The cabin was clean and had lots of things we didn't expect (plenty of cooking utensils, dinnerware, dehumidifier, A/C, etc). The water pressure and hot water were excellent. There's a firepit close to the cabins. Unfortunately, we're city folk and weren't able to get the fire going. Maybe we should have YouTubed it! But it was nice that they had a storage tub full of chairs and a picnic bench. The entrance to the property can be easy to miss because it is at a steep grade, but Wendy and Craig emailed us very specific directions that we printed out and had no problems. Everything was great about our stay. Except for that wasp that wouldn't leave. We also booked a climbing tour through RRO. Dan was our guide and did an awesome job. Highly recommended if you are into climbing but don't have all the gear and/or experience to lead and set.

We had three families staying at the same time and there at least two beds to spare in every room. Not to mention the three couches down stairs. The place had some of its own board games so the kids got to learn a few new games like pool, mancula, and apples to apples. There was a fire pit,hot tub, and a pretty nice grill out side. The whole place was built on a ledge that overlooked the tree filled hills of the red river gorge region . There was also a huge wrap around porch. It was cool but be careful leaning on the edge there might be a few places it's weak. Draw backs... there really weren't many. The first draw back was the place is set up a long steep stairway. It looks small until you are trying to bring your groceries and suit cases up it. Still it's not a big deal if you aren't elderly. The other draw back was the shower, it had a little mold in the corners but over all it was a spacious bathroom with towels and working facilities. We have decided we will be returning to this place and we hope it will be as great as this weekend!

I noticed they use a tennis ball with Lavender Oil for fabric softener. Lavender Oil is used to keep bed bugs away! I also noticed mattress covers wrapped in plastic. This was a red flag and unfortunately I ignored being so excited to have this opportunity. I still accepted the position not knowing how bad the bed bugs were! I moved there in August 2020 where I AGAIN picked up bed bugs. They were even in my car and the rental trailer I leased. I purchased pesticide and worked very hard to get rid of the bed bugs. I am highly sensitive and allergic to bed bugs. I was bitten inside the cabins when cleaning. I tried to come to some kind of agreement for preventative measures with Johnathon Hicks. He had my internet connection turned off then pretended he didn't. Even telling me to unplug and reboot KNOWING it was disconnected. I was 16 miles off the grind all alone with no connection. I had to drive in town to make a call to him. He told me to call their advocate Sharon Keefe to talk the issue over regarding the bed bugs. He told me to call her that day bc she was leaving for vacation the next day. He told me to go back home and unplug to see if I would have a connection. Again, while he ALREADY knew he had it turned off. So I went back to town to call Sharon when he sent a text saying he knew Sharon already left for vacation and they hired someone else! I have NEVER known any employer who would be this cunning and DECEITFUL. Why not just tell me instead of lying and having me run around. He did it on purpose! What immaturity! I was devastated! I had to move again after uprooting my life for this job! I moved back and ever since been fighting bed bugs since August 2020! I have now lost 3 beds and couches and so much more. Jonathon Hicks has denied any issues with bed bugs and completely ignores me. I now have a visible manifestation of the bed bugs. They have spread from the basement (where my br is) to the upstairs. BEWARE of bed bugs and take preventative measures. They do not effect everyone the same. But with people like me who are very allergic are tormented by bites.

Trails around Lago and are not marked but clearly visible. They are very easy trails. Kayaks are available. Lifejackets are available. Propane grills were available on the cabin porches. Just make sure when you check before you get there that you have a full propane tank. Firewood is for sale or you can buy it at the nearby groceries or gas stations on your way in. Speaking of groceries and there's an IGA and Save A Lot within 20 minutes, gas stations, liquor, stores, Family Dollar and there's a downtown Berryville with shops. Farmers markets are seasonal. Check-in is super simple. They will email you a code to get into the door. You don't have to stop by and or check in with the office. We never met the owners. We met personnel on the campground. There's also docks that you can go sit at, gazebo, picnic tables. The actual cabin had towels, hand soap in the bathroom, dish soap, basic pots and pan utensils knives but if you want anything special, I highly recommend you packing it. Definitely want your seasonings food. There's a microwave. There's a coffee pot that uses filters for the 12 cup coffee maker. My husband and I planned a fun weekend camping trip as our last one of the year, and after some…read morerecs from friends, decided to book sites at Lago Linda Hideaway. The booking process was decently easy; however, we were disappointed to see that it cost an additional $27 to choose your site, which felt steep and unnecessary. We forewent the cost and selected the option to have staff choose our site. We arrived around 8:30PM due to some hiccups on our travels. The office was still open and the place was busy. My husband went and checked us in. Since we hadn't selected a site, nor had they selected one for us, they gave us our choice of the 3 remaining sites. We drove around a few times and eventually landed on Piney Ridge #2. It was tricky to maneuver our truck/tent into the spot, but we managed. The woman who checked us in (one of the owners, I believe), said she didn't know that there was an extra charge to select your site or an option not to... seems like good info for them to know... Each site is supposed to come with it's own water and electric hookups. Sadly that wasn't the case for us. We had to call the front and ask to borrow 40ft of extension cords in order to use the electric AND had to ask the neighbor to unplug from one of the two outlets at HIS site. We also had to go into his camp or the other neighbor's whenever we wanted water. It wasn't the end of the world; just wasn't what we paid for. The campground is exttremely quiet after quiet hours (11PM), during the night, and in the AM. Super peaceful. It was also quiet during the day. The only time it was crazy was from 8-11PM when folks in their RVs were blasting music and partying. There are two bathrooms with showers and hot water. Be warned that one of them wasn't heated and I only got 2 min of hot water for my shower. They also aren't very clean or updated, but they certainly did the trick. They are also a HIKE from several of the sites, including ours, so be ready to go to the bathroom in the woods at night. The property itself is pretty and the skies were SO clear I think I saw more stars in one night than I have seen in years, cumulatively. The lake was the highlight. My husband and I spent an evening sitting on the dock talking and it was silent and peaceful and beautiful. There are several shared facilities on the property-- like a heated lounge area with a kitchen and a large covered deck and a communal dish washing station (which we used twice). Overall we had a REALLY good weekend and would stay here again. We like a mix of roughin' it and creature comforts when camping and that is just what Lago Linda delivered. I have a feeling we will stay here again!

I can't speak to the cabins, but as for the lodge my review is under "Hemlock Lodge" and it's a solid 4 despite a few cons. But for the park itself--a 5, hands down. A beautiful, well maintained park full of trails from easy to difficult and each with glimpses of wonderful natural beauty such as the main trail here that leads to the natural bridge. You can hike to the top of the bridge and walk it, then trek under neath it for a view of the arches, then to several overlooks to get a glimpse of it from a distance. I'd recommend doing all of the above as each is breath-taking. This area of KY has more natural arches than any place east of Utah and that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough. There's a local business on site at the park that sells passes to ride a ski lift to the top of the resort park trail where you can then trek to the natural bridge in 15 minutes or so (max) of moderate hiking. We opted for the one way pass and hiked down--a really great hike but one that is a bit more difficult and provides opportunities to slip and fall so if you're a casual at best hiker you may prefer the roundtrip lift. It's worth doing if you're up for it though, as it's a beautiful hike. Really great park in a really great location to use as a homebase to explore all of the red river gorge area which offers a lot of other great hikes and natural beauty.

Pros: * Great location--close to shops, restaurants and hiking trails, but tucked away enough that it feels private and secluded. * Customer service was very responsive whenever we reached out. * The property is beautifully decorated. The lighting and the cargo nets on the front of the captain's ship were especially fun and a big hit with my son. Cons: Captain's Quarters The Captain's Quarters, which includes the kitchenette and bathroom, is much smaller than it appears in the photos. I would estimate the actual living space to be only about 8-10 feet wide, excluding the bathroom and sleeping loft. While the listing photos accurately show there isn't a couch, it's worth noting that the only seating is a dining table with benches. If the weather keeps you indoors, there really isn't a comfortable place to relax other than sitting on a hard bench or lying on the bed. Ant Problem There appears to be an ongoing ant problem. We noticed ant traps under the sink, which suggests the owners are aware of the issue. Unfortunately, there were ants in the sleeping loft of the Captain's Quarters, and both nights we woke up with ants crawling on us. Safety Concerns Our primary reason for booking this property was the cliffside room, but this is where we encountered our biggest concerns. On our first night, my son noticed that the bedroom door to the cliffside room did not have a lock (see attached photos). I contacted the property the following morning, and they responded quickly, offering us the other cliffside room since it was unoccupied that night. While I appreciated their prompt response, it only partially resolved the issue. The replacement room did have a lock, but it could only be locked from the inside because of the sliding glass door design. As a single woman traveling with a child, I did not feel secure knowing the room could not be locked when we left or adequately secured from outside access. Additionally, access to the cliffside rooms is not truly restricted. The "gate" is essentially just a screen door on a dirt path, with no fencing on either side. Anyone could simply step around it and continue directly to the cliffside cabins. Another serious safety concern was the ladder leading to the Grey Dancer cliffside room. The second-to-last rung on the upper left side appeared to have been completely cut through. It was a clean break that looked as though it had been cut with a saw, making the ladder feel unsafe to use. Because of these issues, we decided to end our vacation a day early. At 11:14 a.m., I notified the property that we were checking out one day ahead of schedule and asked whether a refund for the unused night would be possible. They responded within about 15 minutes, stating they could not issue a refund because their cleaning team had already left. Since standard checkout was at 11:00 a.m. and my request came only 14 minutes later, I was disappointed that there was no flexibility given the circumstances. Overall, while the property is beautiful and the location is excellent, the unresolved safety issues and ant problem outweighed the positives for us. We would not stay here again. If you're considering this property, one of the larger cabins without a cliffside room may be a better option. However, if secure accommodations are important to you, especially when traveling alone or with children, these issues are worth considering before booking.
