Here what they say about our refund

do not do business with them ! They steal from paying customers and refuse a refund due to leaving because the park floods often. With no warning, no accommodations and no help from the park itself not even a notice "the fire department is who told us !!!! last minute evacuation to leave by dark .... paying rent a month in advance with no refund.! so unless you like to give away money and move your camper at the last minute due to the campground flooding stay away ! I'm here due to construction work so me and my coworker all had to move and no refund for any of us !

Single person canoe, not a kayak!

We were very disappointed with our latest trip to Red River Canoe. We've been going for many years and usually have a great time renting kayaks. This year when we went we paid $50/person for kayaks and after shuttling to the river realized we were sold single person canoes. These things are heavy metal, hard to row and tip over easily. Even one of the people in their own kayak looked at us and said "wow--you know those are single person canoes?" Keep in mind that if you're expecting to rent a kayak, they don't have them anymore. We'll be tubing at the place up the road from here on out.

Unforgettable from beginning to end. Getting in the canoe and getting out was an adventure as well lol

I had a great experience using this company, and will definitely be back! When I called earlier in the week to verify some info, the girl was extremely helpful and friendly. We rented kayaks on Saturday and I was a bit worried about the crowds, but the entire process was quick and easy! We were a group of 4, but even the larger groups I noticed had no problem getting on the shuttle together and finding enough boats for their needs. Thanks to everyone at Red River Canoe for a wonderful weekend experience.

Cool Red River site I checked out with friends. We saw a pirate bus go there and decided to follow. It was picture perfect and delightful. Definitely will come back here again to kayak!

We went to go kayak yesterday and things seemed to start out ok. We were told that the kayaks were first come first serve. We stood around for 30 min or so before the next shuttle was ready. We boarded a bus that was completely caked in dust. You could run your finger over the seats and there was dust all over your finger. I am typically ok with some dust because, well, it's a kayak shuttle. Not expecting anything amazing. We then had to wait for the driver to select a volunteer from the crowd to crank the bus while the driver jumped off the engine. It cranked and with 55+ people crammed on the bus we coasted about five feet and then the engine died. We had to disembark and then load another bus which had just arrived back. That bus had the back half of the roof absent and people were sitting on the sides and one person almost fell off. Once we arrived to the place with the canoes and kayaks, we all had to wait for the driver to slowly one by one push canoes down. We finally realized if we rented kayaks we needed to go back up the hill a ways and grab them ourselves. Once we got back down to the water we started packing our things onto the kayak until my friend noticed a mouse scurrying around in his kayak. We asked the driver to come get it out, but he said you need to flip the kayak and walked away. After we cleaned the kayaks after they seemed to have been sitting for the entire off season, we were on our way. About ten minutes into the float my friend noticed a lot of water filling his kayak. Great here we go again. We pull off and we see a hole in the bottom. We call the kayak company and they said they would have somebody out within 30 minutes. But before they agreed to bring us a kayak, they wanted to ensure multiple times that the hole was indeed big enough to stop our journey. We waited an hour and it appeared that the staff asked somebody already on the river to bring us the kayak. We floated the rest of the way and enjoyed the journey after the three hours of inconvenience. This place is $45 for a kayak rental and is not worth a cent. It is cash only as well, probably because they know if they accept card they would be getting a lot of chargebacks. Avoid.

This was an enjoyable float but a couple things to mention. We were told on the phone that they go out hourly and when we arrived at 8:20 a.m. a gentleman told us they were leaving out at 8:30 and we need to get loaded. I said we were told hourly and will wait until the next shuttle and he told us they leave out every half hour and the watermelon bus would be there for a 9:00 a.m. departure. I told the gentleman that the website says starts at 7 and shuttles hourly until 2 and when I called they said hourly. We were good waiting. So, we proceeded to load up on a bus that was already there (not the watermelon bus) and once loaded we got on the bus at 8:50 a.m. and sat on the bus until 9:30 a.m. and then it finally left. It did not leave at 9:00 a.m. as we were told so it was hot sitting and waiting on the bus for 40 minutes. The float itself was beautiful and only a couple obstacles (rocks and sweepers/strainers) along the 7.8 mile float. It was not too busy on Sunday either. Several quiet moments along the way. We were told it's a perfect float when the water level is at 5-6 feet and the water level was right between there when we floated Sunday, June 23, 2024. I have to mention the put in and take out are some of the worst I have ever encountered. I float a lot in Missouri. There are no port o pottys at the put in so be sure you go to the restroom at the office of the Red River Canoe Rental before you leave. The put in is a downhill dirt path that is steep and carrying 12 foot kayaks down it is a little difficult. There is not a lot of river bank area once you get down to the river. We are in our 50's and brought our own kayaks and paid $25.00 each for shuttle service. The take out is even more difficult, and I would classify as treacherous. It's mud/dirt concrete and railroad ties and it's steep! You have to walk up two sets of these steps. Just a heads up. Had we known this, probably wouldn't do this float.

Went today for the first time with my kids and a large group of friends. Drive to the drop off was quick. They keep the boats in decent shape, no one had any issues with their canoes or kayaks. Life vests are provided for everyone. Family friendly.

I had just returned from a grocery run. I assured him that actually I was since we were packing out and moving to a different campground a day early. He insisted that I was driving above the 10 mph speed limit even though my Life360 app clocked me anywhere from 3 to 10 mph once I entered the campground. He continued to yell so I finally closed my truck door because it was too much. My husband came over and he tried to "tattle" to him and he told him I didn't stop at the stop sign on the way in. That was not entirely true. I actually saw it late and stopped just beyond it because I missed seeing it due to its placement. He peeled out on his golf cart after not being able to tell me how fast I was going. I asked him a few times and my husband asked how fast I was going and he kept screaming, "that's beside the point!" So - I had told him that unless he had a radar detector he really didn't know my speed. He must have called the park ranger, who was very kind and I explained that I was not speeding, and we had a nice conversation. I told him how incredibly rude and hateful the "person in charge," is. We continued to pack up and the sheriff drove by for the first time in our stay which I doubt was a coincidence. He didn't speak to us or stop, but the boomer in charge was giving him an earful as we were leaving. Also, the spot we were in was nearly impossible to back into because it was so narrow and there were huge drop offs on the road where you couldn't properly maneuver to back in. I am told that you can't leave an honest review on Recreation.gov because they are monitored to buy the people in charge. I will attempt to leave one once I am able, but there is a reason why this campground is rated the lowest in the area. I guarantee you it's because of the "people in charge."

The girl in the office never opened the door and just let us sit when I noticed that the blinds were open. The site we were assigned was next to someone that was living there. They had two hoses connected to the water faucet one to their fresh water inlet and one to their sewer hose. The sewer hose connection was the one that was to be our fresh wate connection. We definitely recommend looking for somewhere else to stay.

There are roughly 60 sites, all with electricity and water but not sewer hook-ups at the sites. (there is a separate shared dump station). Prices range from $28-$32 with the more expensive sites being those that are waterfront (if you're lucky enough to snag one!) Kudos to the gentleman at the Attendant Booth. A bathhouse with showers and laundry facilities. Benches with a water view to enjoy the sunsets. Some pull-through campsites. Good security. The gate is locked each night from 10 pm-6 am (although we were informed how to enter/exit if we needed to). Reasonable price. Also, Nashville is within 30 minutes. And, what's not to like? We were informed that skunks frequent the area, so you need to store food in approved containers. (We didn't see or smell any). We experienced high winds during our visit, so boating and/or swimming were out of the question. Also, Wi-Fi is not provided at this campground.
