The views of the lake are beautiful, and the bridges you get to walk or run over add a really nice touch. I went in January when it was cooler, and it was not crowded at all, super peaceful and relaxing. Parking was free, which is always a win, and there are bathrooms and a water bottle refill station on site. There's also a park ranger station and a boardwalk that goes out to the lake (though it was closed when I went). Other visitors mentioned they sometimes see wild turkeys and other animals along the trail. No wildlife sightings for me this time, but still an amazing experience. If you're looking for a scenic, low-stress running or walking spot, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

I had just returned from a grocery run. I assured him that actually I was since we were packing out and moving to a different campground a day early. He insisted that I was driving above the 10 mph speed limit even though my Life360 app clocked me anywhere from 3 to 10 mph once I entered the campground. He continued to yell so I finally closed my truck door because it was too much. My husband came over and he tried to "tattle" to him and he told him I didn't stop at the stop sign on the way in. That was not entirely true. I actually saw it late and stopped just beyond it because I missed seeing it due to its placement. He peeled out on his golf cart after not being able to tell me how fast I was going. I asked him a few times and my husband asked how fast I was going and he kept screaming, "that's beside the point!" So - I had told him that unless he had a radar detector he really didn't know my speed. He must have called the park ranger, who was very kind and I explained that I was not speeding, and we had a nice conversation. I told him how incredibly rude and hateful the "person in charge," is. We continued to pack up and the sheriff drove by for the first time in our stay which I doubt was a coincidence. He didn't speak to us or stop, but the boomer in charge was giving him an earful as we were leaving. Also, the spot we were in was nearly impossible to back into because it was so narrow and there were huge drop offs on the road where you couldn't properly maneuver to back in. I am told that you can't leave an honest review on Recreation.gov because they are monitored to buy the people in charge. I will attempt to leave one once I am able, but there is a reason why this campground is rated the lowest in the area. I guarantee you it's because of the "people in charge."

Review for knobs campground Laverne Tennessee…read more I drove up to Tennessee to work for a couple weeks. I made a weeklong reservation at Poole Knobs campground. They only had one site available for all week so I felt really lucky to get the last one. When I arrived I realized just how lucky I really was. I saw on the USACE website that they had a family of nesting Bald Eagles in the park. They said they had closed several sites to give the Eagles some space. Did you know that if you disturb a Bald or Golden Eagle in any way at all it's $100,000 fine and a year in prison and that's for your FIRST OFFENSE!! I don't even know anybody who can afford $100,000 fine. So I'm staying away from those birds. First day I was here it was OK; I got my tent set up by myself and got things straightened out. I started a little fire but went to bed early. I was pooped The next day (Saturday) I looked at the weather and saw there was a big storm coming in. Oh great. I go to co ER my tent and wouldn't you know it; I had forgotten the top of my tent. I don't know how I did that because I rolled it up last and I always try to roll the top in with the rest of the tent. I had my hammock tarp, poles and a lot of rope in the car so I decided to rig something up. Come out OK and later when the rain started I was pretty pleased to see I didn't have any kind of leaks or blowing or anything like that. I checked the weather this morning; we have thunderstorms both daytime and night time all the way through Thursday afternoon. Friday is supposed to be nice and sunny about 80°. Guess what I'm checking out on Friday. How about that? Anyway the campground is really nice. The sites are pretty private they're not all on top of each other. There are a lot of pull through sites with full hookups. They also have nice tent sites. There is plenty of shade too. Nice on these scorching hot Tennessee summers. This morning I got up at 5:15 AM as usual when every bird in the county started to sing. I don't know how they all know when to start but they do. It's 5:15 AM. I went ahead and got up. Might as well, I was awake by then. I walked over to the fence to look for the Eagles and tried to find their nest. They camp host had told me if I stand by the sign then I'd probably be able to see them. But wouldn't you know it, there are two signs. I tried one and looked and looked but didn't see anything. I went to the other. I looked and looked here too but didn't see anything. The trees are so full of leaves that you really can't see a nest, even though it as big as a bed. Luckily one of the Eagles spread his wings and flapped a couple of times so I saw where the nest is. I couldn't really see the Eagles or the nest but at least I know where it is. I'm going to add a couple photos the Rangers took and shared. Saturday night a big storm blew in and I'll tell you, it scared the pants off me. I have all these big trees over my tent and I was afraid a limb would come down and smash my head. So my chicken butt got in my truck and drove down to the boat ramp parking area. No trees around there to kill me. I sat there for a little while and watched the boats hurrying off the lake. The wind was fierce and the lake was very choppy. A really nice ski boats came up and had to wait for their turn for the ramp. Before long the big waves washed over the back of that nice boat and sunk it. Right there beside the ramp. I called the camp host and told her and she called the TWRA Rangers. Before long a big big boat with 1000 humongous lights all over it came across the lake up to the sunken boat. You never see lights like that on a personal craft. I would not have wanted to be out on that lake in any kind of boat. Two TWRA pick-up trucks also came into the parking lot and went down to help. The big boat maneuvered the sunken boat over to where the trailer was. They got it up on the trailer and then the TWRA pick-up towed their truck and trailer out of the water. I'm guessing being full of water made it too heavy to pull out with one truck. The TWRA truck pulled them out far enough to open the drain and they were finally able to drive away. I was really proud of those TWRA rangers for coming out in that storm to help those people. The wind was raging and it was pouring buckets and there was crazy lightning all around. They are heroes to me. Anyway back to Poole Knobs campground. I can't say enough good things about this place. They have beautiful sites, really nice bath houses with hot running showers and friendly hosts. A lot of the sites sit right on the lake. I hear it is a great place to fish from the bank. If you're looking to camp in this area (near Nashville) you can't really beat this one. But like most great places you'll need to get your reservations in as early as you can.

Our site wasn't next to the water because all of the water sites were booked, but every campsite looked really cool, with: a large round cement table with cement seats, a firepit, an outdoor grill, and a flat space for tent camping. The older gentleman camping nextdoor in the campsite next to us came over and gave us: wood, charcoal, and water bottles, because he said he was leaving the next day on his motorcycle and couldn't carry it all. He was very kind to us. Overall, great experience! Can't wait to return to Anderson Road Campground in the future when visiting Nashville, Tennessee!

We paid $69 plus fees for a pull through for one night. The spot could not even fit our Silverado attached to our 26' camper. And the sewer hookup was completely at the front of the camper! We asked to move and did get to go across the "street" to a spot that we could barely fit in. The space between the campers is about 14' and no grass, just dusty dirt and leaves. There were loud people most of the night so obviously they don't enforce quiet time. The park is directly on the expressway so there is very loud traffic 24/7 including big trucks air brakes, motorcycles racing, and airplanes every few minutes overhead. I'm glad we're only here for one night, would not recommend for longer term. Note to self.

Sunshine set us up with everything we needed for a fun day. Their communication beforehand was excellent letting us know what to bring and keeping us posted on the weather. We could not have asked for a better day. This trip was only the two of us but we are already making plans to go back with the whole family. The Harpeth is the perfect location for river float. We were on the water about 4 hrs, it was amazing. Their shuttle makes it easy and convenient dropping you right at your car. Thanks for taking great care of us!

A nice piece of greenery in Hermitage, Tennessee. The park is located at the intersection of two…read morebusy roads, so this park will never recreate the feeling as if you were away from it all. No, the sound of continuous traffic crushes that illusion, but that traffic, that hustle and bustle, is exactly why we need parks, both big and small, to simply just get some grass under our feet and decompress. The center point of the park is the Hermitage Park Sundial, a sculpture by Joe Sorci called Clear for Landing made of aircraft wings. All in all, pretty cool and I am glad I got to stand before it. One thing that stood out, at least to me, was a child scrawling "Lena was here" in a child's scrawl. Hopefully this park will remain within her memories throughout her life, a place of happy summertime laughter and the simple joy of childhood. The park also boasts a community center. Again, a tie to bond the people it serves. All on all, this park serves this community well. While there are drawbacks, the park stands in defiance of urban sprawl or perhaps it stands in celebration of a growing city, serving as a respite from the concrete and asphalt. I am glad that I visited. While perhaps I did not write my name on the sidewalk, like that child named Lena, I was here and I am better for it.

What a great find!…read more This park is a perfect spot to enjoy the few days of sunshine we have during the winter months. There are two jungle gyms, multiple swing sets and a volley ball court. There's also a few sand pits for kids to play in and dig for fossils. The parking here is tight, but there are two lots. I would recommend the lot near the rec center, there are way more available spots. Looking to have a picnic? You're in luck!, there is plenty of open space and a ton of picnic tables. Make sure to take a walk on the wooden tree bridge near the center of the park!
