We had an absolutely wonderful experience! We arrived right as they opened and it took some time to get a trail group settled and ready to ride. The owner pretty much blasts you with questions about your familiarity with horses, but she is spot on with matching a rider with the proper horse. In about 30 seconds, she knows exactly which of her over 100 horses to put each rider on. We were able to meet each horse going on the trail with us, not just the horse we were paired with. They also have some of the largest horses I've ever seen. This is one of the only stables I have been able to find that can accommodate a wide range of people. As a plus size person, it takes a plus size animal to carry me. I hadn't been riding in over 20 years, but it felt like I'd never quit. My son rode Flash- like the sloth from Zootopia. Very gentle horse, easy going for a first time rider, but liked to set his own speed. I was on Marty- like the zebra on Madagascar! He was a little frustrated with going at a slower pace, but behaved beautifully for this out of practice rider. Our trail guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. He made sure my son was comfortable in the saddle before we left for the trail and kept him close just in case he had trouble. We are already wanting to go back to ride again.

    Great horses, great people!

Probably the best horse riding facility we have ever get been to! About a 2.5 drive each way and well worth it. Very friendly people that care about the horses and rescues they have. Honestly if you have a problem with anyone or anything here it's probably you! We cannot wait to return!

    Tame friendly horses.

Great time spent in The Dells. Nice folks. Fair prices. Beautiful ride through the woods. Staff was helpful and treated the horses like family. Helmets available for those who want them. Tame trail horses that basically follow each other down the path on a guided tour. Some nudging required at times but a good ride if you've never rode before. Ride was about 50 minutes to an hour. Lots of fun!

We had a great time riding horses. The horses were gentle and easy to guide. Marty was saved from a slaughter house and my husband enjoyed riding him on the trail. My horse was Ramey. Great family fun, definitely worth the money.

We were in town from STL with two teenagers, one who was very scared. The staff was very kind. I really wish we lived closer because we would absolutely be going back. Lovely trail ride, too!!

Horse people tend to be nice people. That is my experience. But sometimes they can make you feel a little foolish when you get around their animals, even if they don't mean to do so. That was not the case at Red Ridge Ranch Riding Stables. Cindy and her crew made us feel welcome and right at home the instant we set foot on the ranch. We had the trail and our guide to ourselves and our horses were gentle, the trail beautiful and our guide knowledgeable. The price was very fair ($25/hour ride per person) and we were excited to hear about all the offerings throughout the year. I'm particularly interested in the camping trips they offer where they'll meet you at a camp site with horses. They don't do riding lessons or equine therapy because they focus so much on trail rides, camps and their other experiences. I appreciate a company that can narrow its focus so that it can really deliver on the services it does provide. That's what we found here.

So much fun! Lots of cats, ducks and ponies to pet before the ride. Horses are great and so are the guides. They hand you the reigns and gave you help out a bit too, which is really cool.

We were visiting from Florida and decided to go on a trail ride with our entire family. When we got there we were greeted by the owner who was super friendly and had a great sense of humor. The horses were gentle and friendly. Our guide was fantastic. She talked to us the whole time. We had so much fun and we will visit again when we come back. The best part was that it was a winter wonderland. We would definitely recommend red ridge ranch.

We really loved our horseback riding experience at this ranch. We went on the advanced horseback riding trail. It allowed us to do more than just walk with the horses. We were able to have the horses run and canter. We really enjoyed it. My husband has only rode a horse a couple times in his life and it was mostly when he was younger. He felt very comfortable doing the advance ride even though he is at beginner level. The staff were all very friendly and the horses seem to be well taken care of. We decided to buy treats for the horses and the horses loved it. Definitely come visit this ranch as they have activities all year round and so much to do.

This was a nice family owned farm about half an hour from the dells. My girls and I went horseback riding in the Dells a couple years ago and had a great time and liked the scenery. So we thought we would try a new place to get a new view. It is not a commercialized experience here. My girls appreciated the farm atmosphere and took full advantage of petting the cats, dogs, ponies and anything else that came looking for attention. The staff made sure to size the correct horse to each person. Plan for the experience to take some extra time as the crew needs to saddle the horses and whatnot. We were there for about 2 hours for the 1 hour ride. The trail was dusty the day we went since hadn't rained all week. The trail goes through the woods and along the side of the field. No big cliffs or anything to worry about, but not as scenic as the dells ride. If you are nervous about drop-offs, this would be the place to go.

My mother had never rode a horse and she wanted to check it off her bucket list. Canyon Creek…read moreRiding Stable was the closest horseback riding activity near our hotel. Initially you pay and sign waivers at a small building and the actual stable where you ride the horses is right across the street. I paid a little over $50 for the both of us, at the stable you walk onto a tall platform where the employees walk a horse up to you and you get on. My mother got a horse named Pepper and I got a horse named Scrappy (his name is quite suiting). This experience reminded me of why I don't like riding horses and why I hope to never ride one again. Although, they are beautiful and majestic Mr. Scrappy made it very clear that he was the one in charge lol. Despite my efforts to steer him with the reins, Scrappy was in his own little world. He would sometimes stop in the middle of the trail and when I gently kicked his side he just looked at me like I was stupid from his peripheral, he would turn completely around and just stand still facing away from the rest of the group, he would leave the single file line to grab a little snack (the surrounding plants), and he kept invading Pepper's personal space by walking too closely behind him/her. Scrappy was beautiful but he terrified me lol. (Obviously, the staff can't control the horse's behavior, this portion of the review is not reflected in the rating). The trail was beautiful and we even got the opportunity to see some deer. I agree with previous reviews about the animatronics being too much or a little tacky. I just think they're unnecessary, the trail is beautiful in itself, no need for the extra props. I definitely feel like you get your money's worth, the ride last about an hour, no exaggeration. Unfortunately for me I was ready to get off Scrappy 15 mins into the walk lol. I've seen some reviews complaining about the staff not being friendly, I have to disagree. I never felt like the staff was being rude. However, some Horses did have a bad cough including Scrappy (for the first portion of the trail), additionally the staff is really strict about taking pictures, I'm not sure why. It's unfortunate I couldn't take pictures of Scrappy or the trail. After Horseback riding you have the opportunity to checkout the petting zoo. They recommend you go to the petting zoo after riding with the horses because apparently the horses don't like the smell of the other animals (which mostly consist of goats and I saw 1 donkey). All in all Canyon Creek is really good for beginner riders and first timers. Staff is friendly, and the trail is pretty. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This is a hunter/jumper barn with a great lesson program. Private lessons are offered for all skill levels - beginner (never been on a horse) to advanced. They have ponies for small riders and beginner-safe horses. You don't need to have any of your own equipment, as everything is provided. Currently, I'm leasing a 16.3hh thoroughbred. I love him! This is just one of the many opportunities here for advancing your riding skills. I've been riding for 13 years now, and still have much more to work on. Pam is really great about finding local clinics to go to or even just for fun horse-related events in the area. In the past year, I've done the Racine Pony Club Hunter Pace and a Brad Hall clinic. We also go to the IronWorks schooling shows regularly. Meinpferde Farm is super laid back, which I love. Even though the trainers are primarily focus on hunter/jumper training, they welcome boarders of all disciplines. It's a very welcoming place. There's also a large hunt field in the back, where sometimes we ride. There are jumps set up there too, so it's super fun! In addition to lessons and boarding, they have a breeding program. It's a great place to go pony shopping! Their horses are very sweet and eager to learn.

The gang who gets to eat, sit and talk, play games, eat again and ride horses. It was great getting to know the horses, brush them and then try to saddle them. Rylee had no issue helping (doing) for me as while I've ridden a lot, I've not taken care of the horses. The trails are beautiful and set up in a way that it feels like far more than 70 acres. I Tested a lot of my boundaries - bunk house, people, horseback riding after 50, someone else cooking for me, bunk house Thankfully, staff is wonderful, accepting and nonjudgmental of those who literally needed a bit of a push. Nicole, Rylee, Bri & Jay were great hosts and trail guides. We had a wonderfully small group of women for the May retreat who were all accepting and accepting. Whenever we asked for anything, they were right over refilling toilet paper or checking on things. They always asked before entering which was appreciated & respectful towards their guests. The bunkhouse is much nicer than I anticipated (no spiders seen). Everyone was flexible about activities as the weather kept changing its mind. FYI - Other reviews mention the owner, presumably Jay. Yes, he's a little gruff, maybe ruff around the edges. Good heart and soul under that and it is a campground in rural Wisconsin. We didn't have any issues.

My daughter went to this horse camp with two of her friends and she wanted to come home right away…read more First she said the horses were not taken care of well. One horse was very thin and underfed. Another horse had its tail cut very short because it was very tangled. One of the ponies was misbehaving and one of trail guides rode the miniature pony. My daughter also said one of the horses was chewing on the wood fence and that made the horse get high and the owner wouldn't buy the proper equipment to make the horse stop. Second I specifically requested that my daughter and her two friends would be in the same cabin, but instead they were almost split up because halfway through another camper joined and they didn't have the proper planning, so someone had to go to the other cabin (there were two cabins horses and ponies) and they chose my daughter to get switched to the other cabin and my daughter started to have a panic attack, my daughters friends described my daughter as being very pale, the staff did not seem very concerned and did not do much about it. Also one of the camp counselors said cuss words around the campers. Third the older girls got special treatment, two of the older girls got their own cabin with a counselor, my daughters friends says she even saw one of them getting a free candy bar. The trails were also steep for beginner riders. One of my daughters friends said that she almost fell off of the horse during the trail ride. I highly don't recommend this horse camp.
