I have visited the Dells plenty of times in my life, but have never done the ducks, naturally when in town this past time we decided to give it a try and go for the Original. We visited early October and had no issue walking right up to the ticket window and then walking right onto the Duck. I assume it gets pretty busy in the summer and there is a maze of partitions for larger crowds, and a snack bar to hold you over until you get on the Duck. The driver and guide are great at balancing cheesy jokes and some time for you to enjoy the scenery and the ride. We learned a little about the history of the Ducks themselves, the Lake Delton area, and Wisconsin wildlife as we took about an hour long tour. It was great to see some scenery and lean about the history, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a little something different to do than waterparks! read more

This is definitely not wheelchair accessible; no matter what they tell you when you call. They said someone would help me on and off. They did help me on but my entire family had to help get me off. One of two "Duck" Trips available in the Dells. This one is constantly rated as the better of the two. Can't tell you why because I always choose this one! I've done this trip maybe 3 or 4 times in my life (over many years) and always enjoy it. I have to say that the unfortunate breach (and emptying) of Lake Delton a few years ago has added a bit of interesting recent history to the tour. It made this trip a little new and fresh for me. With most tours, your guide can make or break the enjoyment level and our guide did not disappoint. Would imagine they are all well trained. It was a great spring day, the water level was high, all the trees and ferns were pretty much newly sprouted and green. Lots of wild deer walking around posing for pictures. Always a staple, and must check it off the list for a Dells first timer. We saw wildlife including baby fawns on our trip. We learned about the history of the dam breach and the floods as well. It was nice to see that part of the lake. It was fun and worth the wait. read more

I love the Ducks! A must-do every time we visit the Dells. Has raised in price over the years, but several coupons and deals can be found online or in brochures. Doesn't matter if it's summer or fall, the land and water provide lots of natural beauty. We saw 3 bald eagles, deer, and a crane. I don't know how they keep these machines running, but it's really impressive. Most tour guides are college students, so give them a tip if you are able. Some cool history and lots of Dad jokes which are fun for all ages. You might get wet, the Duck can be a little loud, and the exhaust can be smelled, but it's all part of the experience! read more

This traditional ride is a must at least once in your life. The vehicles are interesting and the tour takes just shy of 1 hour. The views are wonderful and the drivers share their jokes and tour info well. It's just a fun activity with beautiful views. Feel free to ask questions and groan at their jokes. Note: I first took this ride at least 40 years ago and the jokes have not changed at all! I love the kitchie-ness of it though. And the current info does change since Lake Delton drained a few years back. Please know that the drivers make the majority of their pay from selling the books and cards they offer during a mid-ride stop. Bring cash and tip generously. These drivers only make 8-10 rides per day and we need to help support them. An extra few $$ is appropriate, even if you don't take the cards and booklets. Ive lived in WI my whole life and really never spent time in the Dells and never took a Duck tour. Clearly this had to change. Know: *There are 2 companies that do tours, we picked this one. You do you. *You can get discounts by buying online or with one of the coupons that are seemingly everywhere. *Tours are about one hour long and our driver Lydia was unfailingly delightful and full of terrible jokes. *We saw some wildlife - herons, several deer including a big buck and of course, actual ducks. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous! If you sit in front you'll probably get blasted with exhaust and if you sit in back, you'll probably get a little wet. Choose your own adventure! read more

So much fun! Highly recommend! I was not expecting much from this adventure, but for about $30 a person we had a delightful time with our driver. He zoomed through the lovely woods making delightful jokes. We were on the river for quite some time and learned some interesting things about sandstone and Lake Delton. He also was intentionally quiet at several points and encouraged us just to take in the beauty of nature. October is the time to take this ride. The fall colors were amazing. The original Wisconsin Ducks is one of those must do tourist attractions in the Dells. Our group arrived for our tour, and we were split into two ducks to accommodate us. Tours like this are made by the tour guides, and we had an amazing one. Wish I could remember his name, but he was knowledgeable, and his comedic timing was so perfect. It was a beautiful ride on land and in the waters. The nature scenes were breathtaking. I loved being able to travel on land and in water without having to get out and switch. You can't beat the original ducks! Such a fun ride and our driver Steve was funny and clearly knew his stuff. His energy was great and really enjoyed our trip with him as I hadn't been on the ducks in years. If you are sensitive to gas/exhaust you'll want to sit in the back of the duck for sure. I've been to the Dells multiple times before but I never have ridden the ducks since I was a kid so of course I had to bring my own kids and give this tour another whirl. What a unique and fun thing to do. The drivers are fun, the views are nice, and it just makes a great, family-friendly experience to wrap up a day at the water parks. Tour time was adequate for my kids to not lose excitement and the scenery was varied enough to hold our interest. You drove through woods, rivers, and lakes. My significant other, dog, and I came here for a relaxing activity. We walked up to the Tickets area to purchase our tickets. Each ticket was $36.30 with the sales tax already included. Our total for two people was $72.60. It wasn't too bad. Luckily, my dog was free! Before we boarded the boat, our photograph was taken. That was a pleasant way to start things off and gain excitement for what was to come. After that, we walked to the line to board the Wisconsin Duck. We were able to board fast and only waited what seemed to be five minutes. During the ride on this amphibious vehicle, we drove through miles of scenic wilderness trails, the Wisconsin river, and Lake Delton. To explore both a river and a lake on the same tour was definitely exciting! On the Wisconsin River, we were able to see dells, which is what Wisconsin Dells is named after! That's enough of a reason for you to pack a bag and go as soon as possible in my opinion. Our tour guide was friendly and seemed to have plenty of experience. He also had a great vibe. He offered a guidebook and post cards towards the end of the ride for $5.00. I ended up purchasing them. I gave him $20.00, so he had a $15.00 tip for the warm hospitality he provided. I definitely recommend that you buy these items if they're offered to you on your tour. It was nice to take some history home with me. After we hopped off the boat, we walked towards the Photo Gallery. This was where they sold us our photograph that was taken before we boarded the Duck. I ended up purchasing the package that included six photographs and a keychain for $20.00. It was worth the price in my opinion! After I purchased the package, we went inside the PX Store. They had a good selection of items that were organized nicely. I ended up purchasing a Ducks Logo Keychain for $2.99 and a Ducks Scenic Tee for $19.99 for myself. I purchased items for my significant other as well, which helped our total exceed a certain amount that granted us a free tote bag. The prices weren't bad here at all. Overall, this was an awesome place to visit! I feel like it's a necessity for anyone visiting the Dells, as you will most likely learn a lot of history during your tour. This is pretty much a must do for any trip to the Dells, and any adult who grew up in the Midwest probably has fond memories of it as well. We were in a big friend group doing stuff further north in Wisconsin, but the Ducks were a must visit on the way home. There are no reservations since they're so busy - you just buy a ticket at the window, then go around back to get your obligatory tourist photo taken and queue up. There is a bit of confusion since the line also goes past the concessions window, and people weren't sure if the line was for food or the tour. We went on a busy Sunday around noon and had to wait about 20 minutes to get on a boat. The tour itself was fun, and the kids in our group had a blast. Even with the heat wave we were cool in the duck's shade and parts of the tour are in the valleys where the sun doesn't get too as much. Our guide Travis was knowledgeable and dropped all the classic jokes and puns. For all the kitschiness found in the Dells, the Ducks let you get back to nature a bit and actually learn something besides how to drive a go kart or how many water slides you can go down in a day. I've been on duck tours in many cities, and generally the land portion goes through town and gives a bit of history/tourism along the way, and then a trip into the water. This one is more about the nature of the area, with views of animals. We saw deer, turkeys, a raccoon and other animals natural to the area, and then went in the water where we got a good perspective on the interesting sandstone and rock formations over time. The driver/host Logan was humorous as well as effective in sharing information. The ride felt safe and comfortable throughout. At a cost of just under $40 per person, it ended up being a good value and a nice way to spend an afternoon. read more

My family's first experience in a Duck Tour. Boat driving on land then in floating in water. That was cool. However our boat sounded like it was going to die while in the water, So scary! Well, our boat did break down once out of water. We had to wait 15- 20 minutes in the scorching heat, while getting ate up by mosquitoes for a new boat to come rescue us. Once the new boat arrived the tour continued. Great scenery. The driver cracked jokes about football & politics the who time. For the money, we won't do it again. read more

Went with my adult special needs daughter on the first tour of the day at 8am with a mixed group of adults and kids. A friend had highly recommended it, otherwise I don't think we would have done this. I also highly recommend it! It lasted about an hour. Our tour guide was Yev, a college student who was excellent and had been doing tours for 3 years. He was from the area and his passion and pride was apparant. The tour was really cool with going both slow and then fast into the water (fun!), going slow through sandstone cavelike area, seeing where a breach/flood had occurred, and some corny jokes that my daughter just loved! read more

I this a trip to the Dells isn't complete without a Duck Boat Tour. We stayed At Kalahari and the boat we toured with left straight from the resort. It was such a beautiful tour, we learned what put the Dells on the map. We saw great formations, learned about history, saw wildlife, all while cruising on and off land. There are other pickup locations and look online for a coupon. At our resort though, the coupon price is automatically applied. read more

We love he original Ducks experience. My prents and I have been going for most of my childhood, so I was excited to bring my husband (then boyfriend) when we went to the Dells in 2007. We've since gotten married and have a 6 year old so we were excited to bring him to the Dells and on the Ducks. He laughed at all the jokes and thought the ride was great! There was ONLY 1 thing I noticed that was lacking. A Duck replica car toy. My son loves Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars and not being to buy a toy car as a souvenir seemed to be a missed opportunity for all the boys and girls that go on the Ducks. read more
