But I decided to learn it and buy one anyways... so I brought an acoustic cello online which was used and affordable. When I was tinkering with it, I noticed that I was terrible at it and that no matter what I did, I couldn't even keep the instrument in tune... then some family members told me about looking for a Luthier... and so I found Jack. Like a blessing, he taught me a few things about the cello and how to hold a bow and many other things in a few moments time. Then he performed a few modifications and repairs to the cello... Resurfacing the fingerboard, replacing the pegs, getting me a more proper bow and strings... let's just say that when I strikes the strings..... that cello song for me. I'm glad I found a luthier like Jack who does care about players and their needs rather than going for the sell. Absolutely recommend!!!

My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Ms Brown at Mountain Valley Studios for one year…read morenow. She has been progressing very nicely and is reading music and notes better than before. She had four years of piano prior to these lessons and lacked in reading music, she would memorize but not take the time to read. Ms Brown is getting the basics down. Mountain Valley is very flexible with scheduling and make up lessons when noted ahead of time. My daughter enjoys her lessons and her teacher. The rates per lesson are comparable, maybe a bit more than previous piano lessons but we are progressing so much more and she thoroughly enjoys the piano again. Mountain Valley also offers once a month group lessons with games and additional learning with other children in similar age groups at no extra cost. Our overall experience with Mountain Valley has been positive.

I stepped in to Norris Family Music one day with my dad. I had brought my violin along - I had…read morejust bought it, and had absolutely no idea how to set it up or, you know, get sound out of it (which is usually something you want out of a musical instrument). There was a 20-something guy working behind the counter. He informed us that his uncle would fix my violin, but he was out to lunch. Apologizing profusely, he recommended we come back in an hour or so. No big deal! My dad and I headed out to lunch ourselves and came back. Uncle Man wasn't back yet, so we browsed the store. There's not a huge selection of musical instruments, but the guy and an older woman both made friendly conversation with us, talking about music and a bunch of other things. When the man (I'm assuming he's the musical whiz) returned, he apologized for taking so long and asked me what the problem was. I told him, "I have no idea what to do with this thing." He smiled, laughed, and set to work on it, replacing the strings (I had broken one of them when trying to tune it the day before), all the while humming to himself. When he finished, he showed me a few things on it, some basics on how to get sound out of it (yes, I bought a violin with no prior knowledge of the instrument - I'm an impulse shopper). He tuned it, but my dad and I theorize that he didn't need the electric tuner to do it, that he had perfect pitch and only used the tuner to reassure us. All in all, I absolutely adore this little family-run place, and it's now where I go to do all of my musical shopping!
