Be sure to double check the amount before check out. ### I unfortunately left disappointed after a decent first experience in the salon. They quoted me initially during a consultation for 3 hours from 1-4pm. When I arrived for my appointment, my stylist took me 20min after my appointment time started as she was busy with another customer. We ended the appointment at 4:22 and I assumed it would still be 3 hours given the delayed start. The receptionist pulled the price up to have the stylist confirm. The stylist shrugged and said "we started a bit late but that's fine." Then I saw the price and they added a full hour to the total price. After tip, it was over $460. Given it was my first time I felt overwhelmed and didn't say anything and cause a scene. I regret not speaking up in the moment. However I don't recommend people go here as they may do the same to you. I won't be returning.

I was so stoked when Skyler came back since she's the stylist I like to go to the most. RPS isn't cheap but I treat myself to it and every cut I get is well worth it. I have been to some of the highest rated salons in the triangle (Douglas Carroll -where the top stylist did my hair, Sam and Bills -near Cameron Village, and Rock Paper Scissors- Downtown Durham). Since I quit my job to be a stay at home mom, I can't afford to spend $$$$ on my hair anymore. I needed to find a place that was reasonable with talent and hopefully a group of hair dressers that treated me like a person and not just a customer. I found that and more. Hairplay is a group of the nicest and most talented women. The salon itself is adorable and not over the top! It's very welcoming. Joy, the owner, did my hair and she is fabulous. Upon booking my appointment she blocked off plenty of time for just me. I've been to places before where I was one of three clients being thrown around. Here I felt like it was all about me and my hair! Joy is an amazing hair artist. She got my color EXACTLY how I wanted it and made it look so much healthier. I lost a lot of hair after my pregnancy and it was looking rough...but now it looks beautiful again! The rest of the ladies are fabulous too. Paula did my hair in 2011 for my bridal shoot & wedding and I received so many compliments and people asking me who did it so they could go to her for their wedding hair style. I am so thankful I came here! They will do your hair how YOU want it - and you'll leave feeling like a Queen and not like you didn't have anything done! :) Thank you ladies!

I have used Heavenly Hair by Kim whom I met back in the 1980's. Over the many years of my life, she is one of the top two hair stylists I have met you can go in and say, "you do what you think will look the best". She is amazing, whether working with color, a simple trim or a new style. Loads of experience and great training. 10*s to Kim, you will not regret your visit with her. Nails by Michelle did pedicures for an elderly friend and me. I love the fact, she understands older, thiner, more sensitive skin and in doing the pedicure took an hour with full treatment and massage. It was wonderful. For years, I have been fighting dry, cracking on my heels and she recommended Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair. Why hasn't any other shop done that prior? Also, she informed my friend, she had a toenail fungus and she recommended a couple of products for her which could be picked up at a corner drug store or on Amazon. 10*s vs. the 5*s they allow here on Yelp for being so open and sharing her wealth of knowledge.
