Within 30 seconds of being seated Chris arrived with waters, warm biscuits and menus. We had heard about an unadvertised Tuesday-only special for crab legs. SWMBO ordered that w/loaded baked potato and a margarita. I opt'd for the AYCE shrimp special and margarita. Chris returned with our margaritas, more biscuits and refilled my water without asking. The food arrived after an appropriate wait. My wife loved the crab legs. I liked the garlic (parm?) shrimp and fried shrimp ... I did not care for the shrimp linguine alfredo. I haven't been to Red Lobster in years, and to be honest, it was never really my thing--even though I love seafood, especially lobster. I always found the quality to be lacking. However, after reading a lot about their new CEO and the improvements he was making, I decided to give it another shot. Lobster rolls are one of my favorite foods, so despite the steep price--$30 for takeout and $38 through Uber Eats--I was willing to try it. Big mistake. It was absolutely horrendous. No exaggeration, this was the worst lobster roll I have ever had. When I googled it, they claimed it was made with Maine lobster, but what I actually got was frozen spiny lagostino. Lagostino is NOT lobster, its cheap shrimp. The taste and texture were awful, and it was so bad that I couldn't even finish it. For that price, they should have used fresh Maine lobster--especially since they literally keep them in tanks for other dishes. Been going to Westland Mi red lobster as long as I can remember. Never had a bad meal. Things have changed. Pick 2 or 3 is no longer on the menu. Meals no longer come with a choice of soup or salid. Walts shrimp now come with just 10 shrimp instead of 12. Total bill was $58.72 for 2 (no adult drinks). Can't see going back as it's no longer a good value for me. read more

This review is for the shrimp fest. Started with the cheese/buttery biscuits. They are so good it was difficult to limit ourselves to just one so we would have more room for shrimp. There were shrimp prepared six different ways. Consensus was that the coconut shrimp was the best. Its lightly breaded with coconut flakes and comes with a coconut dip. My pet peeve manifested itself when I saw the busboy wipe a table top and then using the same cloth wipe the seat cushion. read more

My 9 friends and I went to Red Lobster in Westland, Mi on October 2, 2024. Each of us had a scrumptious meal. I ordered the Wednesday special Maine Lobster and Sirloin Steak. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly.The Maine Lobster was delicious. My baked potato was perfectly cooked. The other ladies really enjoyed their meals also. They ordered Shrimp Scampi, Walt's Scrimp, Salads and a few other items. Our waitress Katherine J was so attentive. She kept the Cheddar Bay Bisque coming, refilled our drinks many times, she got all the orders correct. She was so nice about taking our picture together. We are in the downside of Covid and wanted some good food now that we are negative. We have always liked Red Lobster, but the last time we ate there we had a not so positive experience. It was well before the pandemic started, so because the Fiancé wanted Lobster, we chose to give it a try again, albeit curbside pickup. We looked over the menu, and notice quite a few pleasant changes. Everything was done on time, and looked pretty good without opening the tubs, I chose the wagyu burger, ordered medium, she got the harborside feast. Most items were good, but the 2 we wanted to be great, the most expensive, were not. My burger was cooked medium well, extremely dry and charred on the edge, and her lobster was absolutely charred through the bottom, something you could not tell looking at the tail from the split top side. It looked really good. Unfortunately, this again had cast a doubt on wether we will ever give this establishment another go around. I gave 2 stars for the cheddar bay biscuits, her shrimp skewer and scampi, the timeliness of the order being ready and the very nice team member who brought out our food. Not sure what this review will accomplish: this place has a wait for a table almost every night of the week. This review is a combination of a visit from last week, and a visit from 3-4 months ago. The wait time estimate was off. They estimated 25 minutes and it was more like 35 minutes. It's Red Lobster food - always pretty good, a bit overpriced. I love the biscuits, the shrimp scampi was a bit overcooked, the lobster tail was fantastic. I like the Caesar salad and the clam chowder. The seafood pasta was a bit lighter on seafood than I would have expected at the price point. We ordered chicken tenders and didn't specify and we got the grilled instead of the breaded and fried ones. Which would normally be okay, but my 5 year old wouldn't eat them. Would have been nice if they'd asked. Service was good. Frequent water refills, took our order quickly, and very engaging with us and the kids. They seated us with children in the bar area and I definitely noticed some other tables giving us the stink eye when our kids were being a bit loud or boisterous, as 3 and 5 years old tend to be in restaurants from time to time, despite by best shushing efforts. I've gotten sick to my stomach the last two times I ate there. By the time I got home from the restaurant. We only had a 15 min wait time which was really nice. We had a wonderful waitress who was very friendly and attentive to us. We ordered New England lobster bake and my husband ordered lobster and steak. The sauce for each one was amazing and the lobster tails were cooked wonderful and so was the blue crab legs. The muscles tasted so good, done perfectly. The corn tasted really good too the seasoning on the corn was really good. It was the best meal we have had there in a long time. It had been about 14 years since my last visit to Red Lobster and I said then I was done. At the requests of my grandsons we scheduled Christmas Eve dinner but couldn't go because we were all sick. We went last week. If I live another 14 years I will not be back. I rolled in the front door (in wheelchair) with grandsons and husband. "Hi, how you doin" the hostess asked without even looking at us and then she turned around to chat and chuckle with the group of waitresses around her. After what was probably only a minute but seemed quite longer I finally asked, "Are we disturbing?" At this she asked how many - we were clearly four. We were seated nearly in the back near the exit door passing all of the empty booths. I asked if we could have something closer. "Oh no, you need a table", was her reply as she kept walking. (I can get it n and out of a booth - I just cannot walk) We were seated at a 6 top. My husband and I each just ordered the fish and chips. No comment. The little grandson had popcorn shrimp and ate it all - it had the same greasy look as the fish. Older grandson had the fried green beans app, the coconut shrimp and a side of crab legs. He liked the beans, took one bite of the shrimp and could not crack the crab because the shells were rubbery. Truthfully, the reason they hit the list 14 yrs ago was everything tasted as though I was pre-cooked, off a steam table or deep fried. At least the biscuits were good then. It's been several years since we came to this location because of the slow service and now it's extremely super slow. I'm only giving them one star and that's only due to the fact that I'm writing this review. We wanted to support our local restaurants and this right here just doesn't make any sense to me. I truly understand that restaurants are opening with curbside and deliveries only. When you have a parking lot full of people waiting for orders that they can only do online, especially on Mother's Day. staffing shouldn't be an issue, my husband placed our online order at 5pm for a 6pm pickup, we paid and he waited until 5:50 to go get our order. Well, he's met with a parking lot full of people waiting and a long line of people waiting to get in to pick up their orders, he goes up and ask someone what time they placed their order, and a gentleman says he placed his order at 2 pm for a 3:45 pm pick up, well guess what it's now 6 pm, so my husband comes back home and we call and they say, they're running 2 hours behind. He goes back up there at 8:20 and still no order, it's now 9:10 pm and he's still up there waiting for our dinner order.! Looks like there should have been a cut off on online orders especially if they do not have that adequate amount of staff to serve their customers, especially on a day like today, it's Mother's Day, that's a National Holiday. My partner and I are both Red Lobster fanatics (we are platinum reward members) and come here all the time, but last night the food was the best we've ever had it! To start, the biscuits were soooo fresh and our server gave us 6 instead of the usual 4, and even brought out extra when we finished them. We had the mussels as an appetizer and the sauce was so good I could've drank it off the plate. The bread that came with it was grilled and tasted so good dipped in the sauce. I planned on getting the salmon Caesar salad, but it was crabfest so I had to get that of course! My snow crab legs were so big that they were actually queen crab. Lots of meat and it easily came out of the shell. The potatoes it came with were cooked perfectly too. I've been dining at this Red Lobster for years and it dawned on me that I never reviewed it. Well here goes...I have no complaints about the service or the food. I prefer this location over the many others in the greater metropolitan Detroit area. I decided to go for Lobster Fest yesterday (2/10/2019). I had more than enough. I ate what I could and brought the rest home. My lobster tails were delicious. My meal also came with shrimp and lobster linguine and a baked potato. I probably should have swapped out the potato for some broccoli, but I enjoyed the potato. It was baked perfectly! My waitperson was very attentive. Sadly I don't remember her name. I'll look on the receipt for it and do an update to add it. I see the reviews are not too high for this location, but everybody doesn't necessarily have the same experience. Went to Red Lobster Friday night (3-18) to celebrate my wife's birthday... We got there at 6 and there was an 1 hr 20 minute wait. Well, we decided to wait as RL is her favorite, and ended up getting a table in 50 minutes. Our server, Brian, was prompt, and quick with drinks and bread. Needless to say, at the end, he was probably the best server we ever had. He kept the bread, drinks and whatever we needed, coming quickly. If everything was like him, it would of been a 5 star night. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to it. My wife got the steak and shrimp, ordered the steak medium and he came out like a shingle. Brian let us gnaw on the steak while he had them cook a new one, so we waited for that approx 10 minutes. My MIL had the haddock and it had quite a fishy taste, more than usual, which upset her stomach, so we sent the entire plate back and she ordered something else which was just "ok". My kids chicken tenders and fries came out fine, of course, the easiest to make. LOL I ordered the from the Lobster Fest menu, and got the Bay harbor Lobster and Shrimp Trio. The shrimp were delicious, but the lobster tail was over cooked and rubbery. The Parmesan lobster and shrimp bake was to die for however. Unfortunately, the Broccoli and Potatoes were so overdone, it tasted like they were cooked early in the day and left at the bottom of the warmer... So, outta 5 stars, my dinner got a 3... Wow!!! All I have to say for this Red Lobster is "WOWOWOW!" Well, it was our 14th wedding anniversary on Valentines day this year..just last week. We got to Red Lobster a bit later than we had planned and they gave us a "wait time of 45 mins. to an hour". We decided to go home after we'd put our name on the list and put the light on for our Parrot and I had to change my shoes as silly me, or realllllllllllly sill me....had worn my goofiest slippers and never took them off or changed into my nice shoes to go out to eat! I was mortified when we got out of the car and Iooked down at my feet only to see my most comfortable, favorite, warm but really really UGLY slippers on my feet! The worst of it was the black dress pants and beautiful new shirt that I had bought to wear for our Anniversary dinner! LOL... So we used up our 45 minutes and went back and lo' and behold, they called us NEXT! The timing was exactly perfect at 45minutes pronto!! That's not ever happened before, I don't think? That was what started our "anniversary celebration dinner"out on the right foot. The "HOST" was as nice as can be and smiled and said when we came into the restaurant for the 2nd time "You are next on the list to be called !" Next, they took us to a nice area, clean table and we had the most friendly and good natured waitress "Ashley". I always ask for my soda with "light ice" so as not to get all ice and no soda! Besides that it is too watered down with all the extra ice too. She brought it to me just right and I never had to even ask her for a refill as she was right there refilling my soda as I was finishing my last sip, pretty much! I was dipping my King cra legs into the butter all melted and yummy. I had to ask for more and Ashley didn't mind one bit. I even asked if I could have "extra french fries instead of salad" and she said "yes, of course, after checking with the boss first. I even had to ask her the difference between the "king crab" and the "snow crab"and she knew just what to say and then told us she was a bit "new" and we would never have known if she hadn't told us ..LOL. We gave her kudos and told her she was doing great! We also asked for the manager to come over to our table. The manager , Bob, Came over to us and gave us a survey number to call or go online because we were so happy, he thought it'd be great to share the good news with others at Red Lobster, I 'm sure. He knelt down at our table and spoke with us for a few minutes at the end of our meal. He told us he was really happy to hear that Ashley was doing so great because it was just about time to give her an extra table and therefore she earned it! We were so happy to help and didnt even know it at first , of course! Well, we went home full and happy..Content that we'd had the best anniversary dinner we could have had. I got online and filled out the survey for that Red Lobster and gave Ashley, the Host, the manager,Bob and the Chef (for the food taste) all "Excellents"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Red Lobster's food is always tasty, I've loved it for years. The service is what gets ya, as it did on our first - and last - visit to this location. Forgotten condiment? No worries, it happens. The whole restaurant is out of croutons? Didn't come for the salad, I can live with it. You forgot to put in our appetizer? That sucks, was kinda looking forward to that. I don't think the waitstaff should clean the floor and the table with the same rag....but there it is.
