Great dinner! Pub…read morehas great decor and a warm feel. We had dinner in the back dining room. Between the three of us, we had fish and chips, mussels, and the chicken and leek pie. The chicken and leek pie was 10/10, best I've ever had. The fish and chips however we more like 4/10. Over battered and left the fish in more of a mush, do not recommend. The first two times were just for a couple pints of beer, then on my third visit, I tried multiple items from the dining menu. The restaurant itself is modern and cozy on the inside with a beautiful dining area outside surrounded by greenery. Remember to order at the counter instead of waiting for the waitress to come around! The service was well paced and each waitress was welcoming and attentive. While I enjoyed my beers, I ordered the charcuterie board, the miso glazed chicken skewers, and finished it off with the sticky toffee pudding. My favorite item was the chicken skewers because it was perfectly rationed for one person. I had trouble finishing the charcuterie board, but that doesn't mean it wasn't delicious! I do have to say that it gets very busy here, so try to come by before peak hours. They also strictly close at 10pm because it's directly located in a neighborhood.

Brit Friend #1: "Its just the way its cooked out here. The beef in America is much better." Chun P: "I don't believe it..." My British friends were right. £14.50(about $23) 21-Day aged West Country Beef. Everything was good, but the beef was indeed, very chewy and definitely cooked as we call it in America "well done". My fault for not knowing how things are done in the UK. £12.50 Pork Loin...got a piece from my friend. I don't normally like Pork Loin, but this was tender and delicious! £12 Fish N Chips...predictable, but very good as Fish N Chips always is. Prices might seem high, but standard for London. Indoor and outdoor areas are all very charming. The bar has a large selection of draft beers. The staff are all very friendly. Worth a try if you're in the Putney area.

The atmosphere varies greatly: during the day it's generally fairly quiet, but on some evenings they have a DJ, or one of the themed nights. Whatever is on I always seem to have a great time, and the other patrons seem pretty easy-going too. I once visited on a wintery evening around Christmas they has a Caribbean Christmas theme, with a steel drum band, grass skirts and cocktails pretty off the wall but really fun.

As far as the aesthetic and vibes, it definitely met expectations! It's been around since the 1800's and has a beautiful bar (see photo). The food and drink options are classic English staples- we all ordered fish n chips and sticky toffee pudding. I'm no English-food expert, but I can say both dishes were pretty mid. The fish was huge, but not crispy... chips were perfectly fried- peas were, well, peas (lol)! But the service was friendly and the whole experience was a good one! Would I come back? Probably not- but I'm still happy that this was my first English pub/food experience in London!
