The atmosphere in the pub is old english pub with a 5-star feel. The staff is small town best friend feel, and they take great care of you. Problem is you better make reservations early, as it is tough to get a room here. And at 99 GBP a night, why stay at a Hilton in Cambridge for 2x+ the priI know I am just making it tougher on myself for future reservations, but I really write these reviews for myself so I don't forget where I need to bring my wife! So if your not my wife you can stop reading now. I ordered the menu starter of potato skins and fish and chips. Wow! The potato skins were almost a meal in itself, but since it was part of the 2 course 12.95 GBP menu, who is arguing? The fish and chips was just as big...uh oh! But amazing to the last bite! So all in all, the hotel and restaurant are worth your time!!

This was our second visit to the cross keys. My husband and I were also here in 2015, and we…read moreenjoyed it so much the first time that we planned to stop here specially on our journey from Switzerland to Yorkshire. Alas, our overall experience did not live up to expectations this time. A number of things on the menu were not available, even though we were there on a Sunday at noon, when you would think that restaurants typically anticipate a good crowd. My husband had the roast beef, which he said was ok, but nothing special. I ordered the Caesar salad and was extremely disappointed. The chicken on it was a bit dry and there was not a noticeable enough presence of Parmesan cheese. Also, the dressing was a bit insipid and the croutons, which looked to be fried, tasted stale, as if they were left over from the night before. And most importantly: the desserts. The main reason we came back was because of the amazing desserts on offering two years ago. There used to be an enormous selection of delectable looking English style cakes and tarts, but now there are a lot more continental types of desserts on the menu, like chocolate fondant and a raspberry mousse. (I had the fondant, which was OK, but nothing to the honeycomb cheesecake I had a couple years ago.) The menu promised a selection of cheesecakes, but there were absolutely none available according to our waiter. On the plus side, the wait staff was attentive and responsive. Our waiter Tom was very charming and full of humor. The food was plated up in a lovely manner. The decor of the restaurant is excellent, with great attention paid to detail. We loved all the mismatched old farm tables and seating, and we were particularly impressed by a table tucked into the old Inglenook. To cut a long story short, I don't think we will be back, despite the good service and attractive decoration.

This is a typical Travelodge, located just off the A11 south of Cambridge…read more Access is slightly odd as the original roundabout has been bypassed by the A11 improvements, and you enter via the Shell garage forecourt past the Greggs/Burger King cafe. The car park is also slightly cramped and could do with updating. However, it all looks up after that. The grounds immediately around the hotel are nicely cared for, and include a wild area on the site of Bronze Age burial mounds. We recently spent 4 nights there on an extended weekend visit to the area. We found the receptionist to be really pleasant and helpful, and the room was very spacious, with a really comfortable super king-size bed. It was all spotlessly clean, and although the bathroom was a little bit tired, it was spotlessly clean too (and had bath and shower). There are tea and coffee making facilities as well as a TV. We got a package which included Wi-Fi access for 2 devices for £3. There is a huge desk, and reasonable storage for clothes including a hanging area. The only thing we missed was having plug sockets by the side of the bed to charge phones next to us. Housekeeping was very good - friendly and happy to accommodate requests in the morning - and there are also supplies of tea, coffee etc at reception so you can replenish these if you need to, yourself. They now use robotic vaccum cleaners, so the carpets were very clean - including under the bed! As we found before, they do not provide breakfast, but you could always use the Greggs or the Burger King next door, and there is a shop in the petrol station which sells some basic supplies. All in all, a reasonable venue, if slightly out of the way. We paid £50 a night (for two of us) for our one night stay, which provides pretty good value for money. It's a perfectly good economy option so long as you realise it is a not a full service hotel. I'm not sure why some of the older reviews paid more (and certainly parking has been free for at least 5 years).

would give zero stars but would not let me write a review…read more Stayed at the premier for new year! I am originally from Newmarket and was visiting my family from Florida. The experience was terrible to say the least! The first room smelt like cigarette smoke. We told them we can't stay there because my husband has asthma, plus the smell was horrible. They second room had no heat. We complained religiously and they would adjust the heat from the front desk.Everytime we returned from being out the room was freezing and I would have to go back downstairs to the front desk only for them to turn it on again. You should be able to control your heat from your room. They finally moved us to another room for the last 3 days of our 8 day stay. The keys to the rooms never worked out I would have to get replacements almost daily. What happened to the good night guarantee? The bathrooms in the restaurant were filthy and had blue mop buckets in the Mens room because the urinals were leaking. The housekeeping cart that housed the cleanliness was dirty and moldy. I have reached out to the premier inn and the corporate office to no avail. I guess because I am here in Florida I don't matter... I would never recommend to anyone.

Lovely place to stay . Very helpful staff. We visit here at least 5 times a year to visit family …read more Rooms are always clean . Reception staff cant do enough to help .. rooms do get slightly warm at times. Shame there isnt another chair in bed room cos sitting on bed at night kills the back,if talking or watching tv. Breakfast is served in the restuarant which over looks the heath where the horses and jockeys go out for there morning canter. Which is nice to see whether continental or full cooked breakfast theres plenty to choose from . Car parking is just across the road . But limited parking reserved for premier in. Otherwise you have to park on the next level up and pay for parking. Besides that. This if a fab place to stay .I'd definatley recommend . Right on the edge of town .. too everything you could need round you .. banks, petrol ,station, foodstores and the rookery centre is a stone throw away for any essential needs or anything youve forgot.

Breakfast buffet was nice, I liked the choice of scrambled eggs or sunny-side up eggs and there were many options available. Using the hotel's valet parking made things easier for us, very quick to get the car whenever we needed it. We also came back later after we had already checked out and they let us into the gym area to change our clothes in the shower area. Much appreciated!

Fantastic hotel!…read more Lobby: beautiful, multi-level with a large restaurant and bar area. There is plenty of lounging area. Rooms: For Europe, in general, these rooms are massive. The bed was a queen (not 2 twins pushed together). Very comfortable. There was a nice desk area with a large mirror for comfortable makeup application for my wife. Bathroom: Sizeable, nice shower. Parking: There is a small place that fits 3 cars in a single lane off the road for unloading bags. Parking is valet only. There is a lot of foot & vehicle traffic in this area, making it difficult to back out. Service: Very kind staff that is eager to help, whether you're at the bar, breakfast, check-in, or concierge desk. Breakfast: 7 to 10. Not your standard breakfast... There is so much well-prepared food that it is worth the stop.
