Garrard's was easily one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had!…read more I can't say enough of the service, as it was perfect. Service was top notch, the friendly staff offered everything they could and more (fans, buckets of ice, directions, recommendations, etc, etc). We could easily see that they take great pride in the hotel, their work, and creating an enjoyable stay for their guests. The hotel itself has cleverly named rooms after race horses (as Newmarket is a very famous horse racing and breeding area), decorated with a picture or two of the horse the room is named after, and tastefully decorated with a one or two horse racing knick-knacks. The hotel and the rooms have fresh, comfortable and modern decor, impeccable visually and also in cleanliness. They've integrated technology with a one card master key to enter room and operate everything, you can listen to the radio in the bathroom, and free/fast wi-fi. The eating area was also modern, comfortable and we had a wonderful breakfast chosen off of a menu with a judicious quantity of varied selections. There is parking for four (tight) spots at the back, but there is plenty of parking on the streets with no residents permits needed. I'm forgetting some amenities, but you have 24 hour access to the hotel, and umbrellas as well. Definitely go to this hotel if you're staying in the area, or even for a get away from London!

I have to give White Heart a 3 star review. Their food deserves a two star but their night life on…read morea Friday and Saturday night deserves a four. We recently ate there for dinner. Was far from impressed. Food took over 1.5 hours to be served to us and food quality and quantity is very overpriced along with their drinks and beers. I ordered the chicken, bacon, tomato, brie, potato salad. The tomatoes were char-grilled to the point to where they were blackened. They were not edible. I did pancreatic cancer research at the number one cancer hospital in the world and understand the highest risks for pancreatic cancer, the main risk being chargrilled food. White Heart took a meal that could have been healthy and made it highly toxic. I wrote them a note on the receipt that their tomatoes were highly toxic and can give their customers cancer if they ate them. No competent chef on purpose would turn a normal healthy staple into something toxic. Please review your menu and your cooking practices. My husband had the fish fillet sandwich, it had many bones in it. He was not happy. Their Halloumi cheese starter is a joke. You get tiny slices of Halloumi cheese and it's very salty. Another ruined dish. The fish cakes were good but there were only 3 for what you paid. I paid close to 8 quid for two pints. Much too expensive. Don't go here for dinner. Weatherspoons you can get two epic meals and 4 pints for 20 quid. We spent 47 quid on 2 tiny meals, two starters and 3 pints and one cocktail. White Heart is only good for a night out. We also had a very difficult time finding a clean table. It wasn't busy so I can't understand why the tables were not cleaned. We resorted to a not as dirty dirty table we still sat and ate at someone else's filth which was pretty nasty. White Heart step up your game and fix your menu it's only bc I love your night life on Friday and Saturday night that I didn't give you a lower rating even if your DJs don't actually spin but use Torqs which gives the 'appearance' that they are spinning vinyl but real DJs like myself know they are not!

This is the place where I met my wife on Valentines day and it still holds sentimental value for me today. Newmarket has changed a lot over the past years but one thing I can count on remaining a constant is the White Hart pub and hotel. The service is great with many beers on tap. The deco is modern and cozy. It now has a nice rustic look with steam punk'd vintage lights. This place has its quiet moments but can also be super energetic as it is often the hot spot for a drink and music on a Friday or Saturday night.

Used to be our go to place for pricey but excellent food and drink that was worth it. NOW it's terrible. They kept the prices and lowered the quality of everything! Chairs, tables, candle holders, the menus! God awful looking laminated menus with formatting errors and 15 different fonts, like out of a Chinese take away! Used to have nice mood lighting with candles. Now it's bright as day and candles are burnt to nothing. God the food was so gross. Nachos=crisps, tube squeezed guacamole, bbq, sour cream. I make better at home! Steak and ale pie with Stilton=chef didn't have Stilton cheese so he cut Brie(or goat cheese idk) and melted it on instead. Whole plate smelt like a petting zoo. Beef stroganoff used some kind of short grain Thai rice instead of long and added pickles to the point all you could taste was pickle juice. Vesper was on point tho bartender. Get a new chef! Give a dip about your restaurant. Make it great again!

I think its the perfect place for a couple to enjoy a meal over a few glasses of carefully and recommended by the restaurant wine or a place for a celebration. The service was impeccable the waiter was friendly and had a great knowledge of the menu its a little bit more pricey than some of the restaurants in the area but I think its well worth it! Currently its closed due to no managers but I have no doubt that they will continue with the great service this place provides.
