The view from our room - a traditional king size with a Mountain View

Beautiful resort! We stayed at the Red Jacket for an anniversary getaway. The weekend was warmer than usual for late September. My wife and I loved how close a lot of attractions are located to the resort, including restaurants, shopping and mini golf. There were a few weddings happening that weekend, but they did not disturb the other guests. That's definitely a plus for a resort in such a popular area. Everyone was very nice who works at the Red Jacket. We loved the late night entertainment near the fireplace in one of the areas that had a kid friendly music night. We will definitely return to the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort because it was the perfect weekend!

Our tired beds, see that dip in the middle?

Resort sould not even be in name! A tired hotel past its prime. Beds have a dip in them, small flat screen. Dinning in hotel was 3, almost 4, star. NO FREE access to water park for hotel guests. Musty smells in rooms and halls. Staff was friendly. Far too many choices near to stay here.

360° panoramic view from the rooftop observation room. (Must be able to climb 32 spiral steps to access this room)

Mixed feelings about the hotel itself. Lots of things I really really liked and yet some things I really didn't like. The room was very spacious , had 2 Queen beds and enough open space to put in a third queen bed. Liked having a nice big room but they probably should have had a couch and coffee table and a recliner in this space. It was kinda an odd open space with nothing in it. There was a nice sized table with 2 chairs but they didn't do much to fill up the huge open space. My fiancé used the space to do cartwheels for a funny Facebook video. All the normal room amenities, HD tv, decent sized fridge. Great lighting all around, including individual wall mounted reading lamps for each side of each bed. Liked that the sink is outside the bathroom allowing one guest to use it while another uses the private toilet or shower. The bathroom however was the most disappointing part of the room. Toilet paper holder was falling off the wall, shower surround was some sort of "bath fitter" kit that covered something older. The back panel wasn't glued on properly and had a huge bulge in it. If I pushed on it, it was like a huge air pocket trapped behind the panel. Ceiling paint was applied so sloppily that there were huge drips dried on the shower wall panels. Many many other areas of just plain sloppy repair evident all around the bathroom. One towel in our room had major brown stains on it and there was noticeable dirt/dust/hair in the corners and along the baseboards. I am in home repair/remodel industry so I am particularly susceptible to noticing these deficiencies. Had the bathroom been of decent repair I would have rated higher. All that being said. We paid a very reasonable price for the room which makes me forgiving of some deficiencies in the room. If you want a perfect room you pay double to triple this price. The major upside of the hotel however is the attached indoor water park. It's small but still fun. 4 large slides, wave pool , water basketball, 25 person hot tub as well as numerous child water attractions. Your kids will love it and if you are an even moderately fun person you'll enjoy it too. The park was included in our room price (weeknight stay) not sure if it's worth too much to pay extra for if you don't have kids. Other nice features of the park, nice large common area changing rooms for everybody plus lots of showers and bathrooms in private men's/woman rooms. Lockers included free for you to store your dry stuff. Nice decor throughout plus a small shop for emergency items you may have forgotten. Many life jackets for children who need them plus they looked pretty new as well as the tubes for water slides were all very new looking. Also the arcade in the hotel had decent newer games, not the rag tag collection found in a lot of hotel game rooms. The common spaces in the hotel were very spacious and well appointed. Very large dining area with fantastic views , including a "widows walk" rooftop observatory with 360° views of the white mountains. Nice bar on property. Also had an outdoor pool (closed for winter) and other amenities we did not check out) I would recommend the hotel as long as you're not crazy fussy about a little disrepair. Left separate review for the restaurant itself.

We brought our two kids and two friends here this weekend and loved it! Very welcoming staff. The water park was designed and layout was fantastic . Designed well to sequester young children away from the older kids. Slides were thrilling enough for my daring roller coaster going 14 yr and her friend and my 9 yr conservative safety girl. The restaurant bar was well stocked and the breakfast buffet was perfect after an entire day of running and sliding all day long in the water. Not well designed for handicapped or walking impaired. There are stairs everywhere!! Even in our room! Only bad points I will give is for cleanliness if the bathroom. Mold on backside of door and in the wallpaper. I was skevied out about how much mold was in the bathroom... I will return again! (*hopefully our bathroom will be cleaner) Our kids had a blast and slept in til 10a! They were tuckered out! :-)

While happy with my slow but steady…read moreprogress, I'm often looking for ski locations offering trails that align with my current ability and offer a bit of a challenge when I'm up for it. Cranmore delivered just that and more. Lots of greens and blues where I could work on my skills, try trails with escalating difficulty, and still kick back when I just want to enjoy myself and not be a ball of nerves. I also enjoyed the length and variety of their many trails I could traverse. Was happy to have more options than just a quick up and down in a straight line over a full day of skiing. Their main lift was quick and skiers were able to load efficiently. Lots to look at on the way up. The day of my last visit there were several ski competitions going on just next to the lift so it was fun to watch people competing and see spectators make the trek up to watch as well. Ski patrol were out and about and lots of staff available to check in with as needed. The lodge itself had everything I needed... free cubbies to store your stuff, bench seating to change into your boots, adequate table space both up and downstairs to grab a bite to eat, indoor and outdoor gas fireplaces to huddle by, a bar and hot foods, and best of all... a bathroom at the same level as where you can ski up to so no having to navigate stairs in clunky footwear. Drop off area for skis, quick in and out to purchase tickets, simple walk over to a very large parking area. I can't wait to return when the opportunity arises!

There was a hot tub for two, a shower for two, and a nice additional seating area. In the morning there was fresh orange juice, coffee, and homemade options such as muffins and pastries. There were also some yogurt, fruit, and granola. Saturday night there was a complimentary cheese and wine night! They offered a mixed variety of cheeses, meats, and crackers. They also had two wine options, and a non alcoholic bubbly option. There was a huge almost pool sized hot tub, which could easily fit 16-20 people. Was looking forward to sitting in the jacuzzi in our "penthouse" the whole weekend. This is one of our favorite spots, as it is such a relaxing and welcoming place. Our technicians were Meaghan and Heather, who both did a wonderful job. They made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our services. We appreciated being able to use the steam room and shower following the services, with their lovely shampure products. We felt so rejuvenated upon leaving here. In past visits, we were able to get more services and at longer durations. Unfortunately, that has changed. This wasn't communicated and there was an issue with scheduling our services. When we received the initial confirmation, everything looked fine (services and durations) aside from it stating "body polish" instead of "body scrub". I was assured that it would be a scrub, regardless of what the confirmation said. Unfortunately, the day before our services the confirmation email had different durations of services. When I called to inquire, I hadn't received a call back, however it was addressed immediately upon our arrival. They noted that our call was received and said they figured they would wait until they saw us. I wish it had been addressed ahead of time, as we had to make a quick decision on the spot regarding our services. I would have preferred time to think it over. Also, the polish was in fact a polish and not a scrub, which was not what was wanted nor expected. Overall, we had a great time and would go back! This has become a staple for our white mountain trips. The services are always great, the staff is always friendly, and we always leave feeling refreshed! Unfortunately, our actual stay was very disappointing due to the management. We booked one of the barn rooms, and I would strongly advise against ever booking in that section. While most of the staff were friendly and helpful, the General Manager, Abe, was rude and unprofessional. On our first night, we received a noise complaint. We were up late due to jet lag, but were not being excessively loud. After a neighbor banged on the wall, I quickly received a text from Abe asking us to keep the volume down. Thinking it was an automated system, we immediately complied and kept everything quiet for the rest of the night. The next morning, around 8am, Abe came banging on our door as aggressively as possible. His exact first words were, "I'm asking you to check out today." He said we had been making noise "all night" and "banging on walls." Neither of those things were true. Once he finally introduced himself as the GM, I calmly explained that we lowered our volume as soon as we received the text and that we never banged on any walls. Instead of listening, he dismissed our explanation and began lecturing me in a disrespectful and hostile manner. To try to evict paying guests early in the morning, on the day of a wedding, without hearing both sides of the situation, is completely unacceptable. This experience left a very sour impression of the property. The surroundings are beautiful, and the other staff members were pleasant, but the GM's behavior ruined what should have been a positive stay. I cannot recommend staying here, especially when there are likely other inns in the area with far better management and respect for their guests.
