The gym itself has equipment meant more for people who know how to workout and are muscle builders. I wouldn't say this is a gym to lose weight was their cardio equipment is limited. I also wouldn't say it is a beginner gym, compared to planet fitness. However, I knew what I was doing and have worked out for a few years. If you are a muscle builder, there are several squat racks and free weight stations. There is no AC at all, which was my chief complaint for the price of this gym. They have several fans around to circulate the warm air however half of them are off half the time (got a picture of one off that I'll attach). So yea it is normally over 80 something degrees inside and it's like working out outdoors. You sweat from just being in there sometimes, not mention if you do cardio you will probably overheat on a hot day. If you're the type to workout after work when it's warm, it's gonna be real hot. Only recommend morning and late evening when the sun is somewhat down. This place keeps the doors open, therefore bugs and flies get inside and sometimes get on your skin when you get sweaty. Staff isn't that friendly. They're usually working out or on their phone when I walk in. No eye contact or anything. I've walked past the owner of the place several times and he always ignores me when I check in and he will be on the other side of the counter a foot away from me. Owner isn't very friendly to members, unless you're in his private classes. I've never been greeted at this place by a staff member. The bathrooms are pretty gross, obvious they don't get cleaned for several weeks. Fecal particles around the brim of the toilet, brown smudges on the walls. The place itself is kinda beat up, holes in the wall, big hole in insulation in the ceiling, some places you can see the insulation of the wall due to lack of wall, cracked mirror in one of the corners. Hours on their website are not accurate for weekends at time of posting, the update was only posted inside the gym. Prices on Yelp are outdated. ------ Overall I think the equipment availability is great for someone who knows to workout and is looking to build muscle, the big downside is there is absolutely no AC for the somewhat hefty price paid to be a member, and lastly the place isn't very well maintained with the bathrooms being dirty, bugs/flies in the gym and holes in the wall.

I paid the fee and vowed not to come back. However, months later I came back with a friend who had a membership on 'bring your friend Friday's'. Upon entering I was rudely told that he wasn't sure if I was allowed in the establishment, and he had to make a phone call.... Embarrassing and uncalled for. All of this noise & drama after we paid a years worth of membership in advance ... over a $5 fee. Worst gym, owner, and staff I've ever affiliated with. Never coming back.

I was charged a late fee because my credit card expired. For 8 days. I didn't use the gym for the 8 days my card was expired. I wasn't even in the state. They could have simply deactivated access until it was resolved, but they opt to get the late fee revenue in the name of "convenience" to their customers.

My goal: Strength Training…read more My experience: DTFC is filled with great coaches. However, if your goal is 'strength training' and you're looking for a personal trainer who provides you with an actual strength training plan (tracking weights, tracking sets, details your splits), I recommend having a very forward conversation with them or going elsewhere. Their marketing online for 'strength training' is misleading. While the website states you'll receive a customized training plan before you start, what they mean is the plan is day-of. When I asked about whether I would receive a copy of my strength training program, I was told it's provided by-day and day-of. And was told some sort of version of it being up to clients to lead on what they want. Even though I emphasized my goal was strength training and the website stated personalized training plans. You pay for that to be the coaches responsibility, so that was incredibly irritating. Not once did any coach record my sets, weight progression, or give me a proper training split. Anyone familiar with strength training knows that this is standard, bare-minimum practice. Anytime I overlapped with other clients, it seemed like our workouts were pretty similar, if not identical. From day one, I emphasized my goal was not weight loss, but strength training. Yet, anytime I was given monthly photos, under goals they listed weight loss. At times, though not always, the gym felt like a glorified weight loss gym with unsolicited diet advice. The prices are steep, especially when you're not given a copy of any sort of plan to help you track your progress. You do have monthly check-ins, but the emphasis is on body fat percentage and weight loss. Again, irritating when your goal is strength training. Deceptive contract: Thoroughly read the contract, cancellation fees are insanely steep. It's very easy for your membership to just renew and role-over. Perhaps that's why they don't provide clients a physical or digital copy of a personalized, set-month training program. The goal is to just keep you there, why would they give you a program with an end date? Again, this gym has great individuals and coaches, but it's incredibly hard to feel like the money I spent was even well spent. It's hard to trust trainers and gyms as is due to the wellness and fitness industry being misleading, so this experience felt like it eroded trust in the industry even further. Clearly, this…read moreweekend revolves around Eric R.'s interests, so last night when I noticed a TRX sculpt class here, I told Eric R. I would be getting up early today to try the class. I got lucky for signing up last night because the class was full! I got dressed in the dark and as a newbie, parked where I saw "retail parking" which was on the other side of the building, but it was a pleasant walk on a nice sidewalk in front of the building. I was greeted upon arrival and welcomed by Khanh and Rebecca. It is really nice that water and towels are included for clients! The space is very beautiful, spacious, and clean! I put my stuff in a locker and chatted with Rebecca in the studio. She introduced me to one of her regulars who chatted with me before class began. We started with a warm-up in the center of the room, then grabbed the TRX straps for a barre-inspired workout with balance and a lot of good leg and glute burn! It was challenging, and Rebecca was very encouraging. I was in turnout for so long my calves were on fire! We were given a cold towel at the end which is a nice touch. I also got a little tour of the closets which store props and trampolines. I love that this studio has all of my favorite classes: Pilates, TRX, trampoline, and barre! I would definitely return if I am in the area! Khanh also gave me a hair tie and a card to bring a friend to a free first class, and asked me about my experience even though she had just finished teaching a reformer class in the other studio!

For those who are not familiar with…read morePilates, it is a low-impact exercise that helps with strength, flexibility, and alignment, and even the smallest Pilates movements can have a BIG impact! Jeri Ann, the owner, is a very knowledgeable teacher with a fun and caring personality. She provides individual attention to each student, even in a group class. I leave class feeling like I just had a great workout even we do very small movements. Jeri Ann really understands how to communicate with her students. The studio is small and has a great energy. It's clean and comforting and very PURPLE, which I love. Mats and props are provided, so you don't have to worry about lugging around equipment. All of the equipment is cleaned at the end of class. Jeri Ann offers group classes and one-on-one sessions. I've only taken her group classes, but I know people who take private classes think she's wonderful. StraightUp has a really cool reformer apparatus for private sessions so you can get an even deeper workout that's even more gentle on the body. I'm excited about taking more classes at StraightUp and encourage everyone to take advantage of the first class for $10 special!
