If I could give this place a negative 10 I would. They call themselves a sports bar yet they do NOTHING to accommodate their customers. We went there to watch American football and it was very crowded; no seats available. The bartender REFUSED to serve me a drink and advised I needed to sit and work with a server and served me a pile of BS as to why he couldn't sell me a beer!!!!! Had he taken the time to notice there were no seats available? He needs to get some counseling from a REAL bartender who understands that customers are what keeps the business alive. He was rude, ignorant and chose to give me a speech vs serving me a beer. I will be sure to tell all my fiends and family to NEVER visit your establishment when in Florence. The music playing did not match the vibe the club was trying to give off and the lights surrounding the place made walking through pretty disorienting. Really fun bar! I prefer it 100% over Lion's Fountain. They have karaoke which is bomb, and their drinks are really good (but WAYYY too expensive...you'll need to pregame). With Covid, they're kind of limiting on what you can do and how many people can be there, so keep that in mind. Get there at opening! Staff was super sweet and caring. They seemed to keep an eye on everything to make sure everyone was staying safe. Shoutout to the owner (or manager) for talking to my friends and I beforehand and telling us about sketchy men who pose as cops to lure away girls. Red Garter is a great bar to go to if you want to please everyone in your group. They have a bar/restaurant area serving up delicious foods, a bar/disco area to dance your butt off like you're in a club, and then the karaoke area with long communal bench tables to sing your heart out on stage! The food from the restaurant is amazing, I typically get wings and fries which are delicious, but have also tried their burgers and desserts which are equally great! My favorite wing flavors are the Atomic and the Hot BBQ which are great because they have a little bit of heat which is difficult to get in Italy. The bartenders and people working here are amazing and sweet, they are just happy to be working here and love to talk. My favorite drinks here are the peach frozen margaritas (made by the wonderful Kat) or the illusion! read more

Great place for a good old fashioned night out in a bar and American food -- hard to find in Florence. Burgers and fries are just like they are in the States. In most places in Florence, there is no tipping. However here at the Red Garter, "tipping is sexy" per signage. Don't forget to put a pin on their map to show where you come from. It's kind of cool to see all of the cities and countries that have patronized Red Garter. Next door they have the club, which has karaoke every night. They offer vats... literally vats... of beer and pitchers of mixed drinks. I don't think there's any such thing as drinks by the glass. The night we went, we never got to sing... the system is kind of unorganized, but it was still fun to watch and EVERYONE sings along. It's different from the States in that the karaoke crowd was predominantly 25 and younger. Someone said that everyone there that night kind of met up as arranged on the Internet. For being 5k+ miles from home on an NFL weekend, this place is great! It's crowded and a lot of energy, looks like a lot of study abroad college kids show up here for karaoke and football. The games that can be shown are very limited and subject to luck of the draw if you are one of the smaller market teams. Luckily or unlucky for me, I'm a Dallas fan, so it was one of fox's games of the week. They were able to get the feed and they had some technical difficulties, but overall a good experience. I ordered some wings and fries with a pint of beer. Overall it was ok food but for a fair price. But I was just happy to catch the game deep into the night. Spent a bit of time at the Red Garter on New Years' Eve because our tour group stopped here to celebrate. We had a private room in the back for Contiki (6 tour groups) complete with karaoke. Boy, do the Australians love karaoke! Anyway, as part of our deal, we had drink tickets good for certain types of drinks but you could combine them for a liter of alcohol too! I LOVE this bar. It is one of my favorite spots in Florence. It was walking distance from my apartment so my roommates and I came here more than I'd like to admit. It is definitely geared towards Americans. There are a lot of people here from all over, some who are vacationing and some who are studying abroad. It does attract some creepy Italian guys who like hitting on American girls, so make sure you go with friends and stay with them all night. This place is always crowded, no matter what day it is. But don't let that deter you. It's still fun regardless. Aside from the crowds, it is LOUD in the Red Garter, so prepare yourself for that. I never tried the food, only the drinks. The drinks were very hit or miss. Sometimes the drinks were really weak and sometimes that were crazy strong, sometimes to the point that they didn't taste good because they were sooo strong. Also, a lot of the popular drinks in America are not known by the Italian bartenders. Just get a simple drink like a vodka/soda and you will be good. There is also karaoke which is awesome!! We made a darling friend here right away, who we had dinner with again on our last night in Florence, and we've stayed in touch with in the States. If you're studying abroad you can feel a little bit at home and meet some other students here as well. The bar... don't expect too fancy drinks. They don't really know how to make long islands or an adios and I eventually gave up and got cran-vodkas. No big deal, just be aware they may not know your "American" drinks. That being said, it also can be sort of expensive. Drink before you go out drinking. That's the true American way anyway, right?! The great thing about this place is they have karaoke! However, after a long day of sightseeing, the bf and I wanted to go somewhere to watch the soccer game and grab a beer. This was the first place we saw so we decided to roll the dice and go for it. It's not that bad, I promise. Yes, they totally cater to Americans with their beer selection, nightclub area and taco Tuesday night, but they do so fairly well. The first night we came here, we each had a beer, watched the game and left. We decided to come back again the next night to catch the following big soccer game. This time we were hungry (and extra thirsty apparently) so we got a liter of Heineken for 7€ and indulged in 40 cent wing night. We got garlic Parmesan and buffalo flavor. I can't believe I'm saying this but they were some of the best wings I've had. They could have been a little crispier, but the flavor was good and they were tender and large. Definitely worth trying. Honestly if I were staying in Florence long term, i would try to seek out some more authentic, local spots to hang out at night.
