Five in party and chose different dishes from starters and mains. All tasted each others. Midweek, so enough other customers not to feel too isolated. Warm, friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. Drinks and food arrived fairly swiftly. Food quantities were typically Indian generous.but, silly long and complex menu trying too hard to be all things to all men. Popadums were stale tasting, bordering on flaccid and 4 bowls of chutney and dips were cheap and very ordinary. Starters were disappointing in concept and presentation, dry and mostly lacking in favour and were overdressed with an excess of cheap looking and cheap tasting unimaginative salad. Metal Hot plates intended to keep food warm were brought to table but were only hand warm. Dinner plates were delivered to table bare of food and stone cold. Mains dishes varied in quantity so some were grossly over- supplied whilst other portions looked mean by comparison. 'Spicy' dishes lacked spicy favour. Large lamb shank stood cold amidst a veritable see of hot and quite tasty sauce. Returned to the kitchen for reheating it arrived again at the table only just above lukewarm. Rice side dishes were very tasty, hot and ample. Waiter cleared table whilst we were still eating and attempted to take unfinished dishes. Cost £110 for five starters, five mains, 4 pints Cobra, 1 Canadian Club.
Would I eat there again ? No. I would rather pay twice as much for less quantity of better quality. Should you eat there ? If you know nothing about good quality food and like huge quantities then you will like the place. It is not the worst..just could be so much better. read more
