Not a bad little pub at all - definitely on the way to being more of a restaurant if the truth be known.
We were on a trip down to 'Fords of Winsford' to buy a new car and having to build up the strength to battle the 1500 cars on offer, we decided a big fat lunch had to be on the agenda!
Think country inn food and you're not far off, with all sorts of pub classics like steak and kidney pudding (which my wife had and was amazing), fish and chips and more.
I went for the steakburger which was tasty but that was at the 2nd attempt - the first one that they brought out was stone cold (I'd asked for it medium but this looked like it had come straight out of the fridge and onto the plate. Thankfully the manager was very good and replaced it straightaway, giving us a couple of free soft drinks as an apology. Personally - I don't think this 2nd burger was cooked massively well (but I couldn't be arsed saying anything 2nd time around) and the chef could do with maybe hitting somewhere like Manchester's Filthy Cow burger joint to see how to cook it well but juicy and the pink in the middle...
Besides the burger situ and my wife and myself having to eat our meals separately I'm still giving this place a 4 star as it was a great menu, surroundings and has friendly staff. read more
