This is across the highway from Stitchin' Heaven Quilt Store, which was our destination. What a find this restaurant was for lunch today. Lunch plate of meatloaf with delicious chunky tomato sauce, mashed potatoes with cream gravy, perfect country green beans and coconut meringue pie for dessert. We loved it. Great restaurant! My favorite is breakfast. The have a great lunch buffet on Sundays not sure about other days. The buffet has so many different choices for meat and sides!!! The wait staff are very kind and keep your drinks filled. We go at least once a week even for dinner occasionally . We live about 30 miles away and we don't mind the drive at all. read more

While at work, I called and placed a to go order for the 2 pork chops, pinto beans, cabbage, a cornbread, got all the way back to work and there was only one pork chop, so I called up there and spoke with the manager, her name is Jan, I informed her that I ordered two pork chops, she said the lady who took the phone order put it in for a senior citizen order and that comes with only one pork chop, I am no where near senior citizen age, nor was I asked my age when I placed the order, I asked if I could be accommodated l, Jan the manager said, "No ma'am, you get what you pay for" . Service was great! I get takeout here fairly regularly. Today they have improved the fried Shrimp to larger shrimp and a better batter, crispy but still a bit too salty and a tiny bit overcooked. Fix those problems & they will be the best shrimp around. Squash is great but leaked all over cause it wasn't in a closed container. Fried Okra was good but could be crispier. Hush puppies were good. Tartar sauce is awful, gotten so bad I can't even fix it up at home. Tonight I just threw it away. So, now I can't get the catfish or shrimp inside cause good tartar is mandatory. It's so easy to make too so I just don't understand. Hate, hate, hate dill pickle relish in it should be a bit sweet. We stopped in at Red Dome Smokehouse in Quitman, Tx., Saturday, August 17 while on a trip from Dallas. We were impressed with the variety on the menu. That impression changed once we received our order. I ordered the small burger. It tasted flame broiled, which would have been good had it not been so dry. Hubs ordered fried catfish. He said it was just ok. He requested lemons for it which he never received. He requested tartar sauce which was more like ranch dressing. Service was a little slow. I did notice two females in the kitchen standing around chitchatting. I don't know if that affected the service or not. I also noticed that ordering from the menu was cheaper than ordering one of their specials of the day. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely find somewhere else to eat. read more

Been going here for 10 + years. Never had a reason to complain.... until today. Went thru drive-thru after ordering an omelet... as I do several times a month. It is always $10.80. Today it was $16.40... same omelet I order every time. I was flabbergasted and asked how this could be... for an omelet with no bread or potatoes? The nasty lady at the window announces she is the general manager... and she could have fixed the problem if I was nicer. I advised, no problem, I will just NEVER come back. It's obvious many locals frequent the place and are treated as regulars.. fast service, quick refills etc...but those who are not are going to wait a minute. We went to Red Dome this morning (3/29/2025) for he Breakfast Buffet out total bill was almost $32.00. The Buffet was old looking and not well kept. I love their omelets on the buffet but the 2 left looked like they were from last week. I opted for something else. The bacon was seriously over cooked. Went back to get French Toast which was so bad I could not eat it. The syrup was so thin it would not stay on it. My Husband got pancakes that you had to cut with a knife. Will not be going back any time to soon. Would rate it less than a 1 if I could. read more

Actually is a large size restaurant inside. It looks like a diner on the inside. The building outside is very nice. The could use better seating (chairs and tables). But the service was great and they were all smiling as I watched the servers at other tables. I ordered the hamburger steak and it was well seasoned. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and homemade fries. He said it was really good. Big menu with all kinds of atuff. Don't know how the can offer all the different choices. Thank God they got rid of the nasty carpet that looked like it should be in a fun house and those awful, split faux leather booths. Decor is now western and looks great! Food, especially breakfast is good and priced reasonably. Watch closely though on the menu. Some breakfasts come with coffee, others you pat $2.50, which is ridiculous. I didn't pay for coffee but my friend did. It is always busy and the staff is friendly, very down home. Unfortunately, there is a high turnover for wait staff, so don't get too familiar with your favorite waitress. What gives with that? read more

In April we had family come in from Oregon and Houston so we stopped by the Red Dome Smokehouse for dinner with a large party of eleven. Their staff is friendly and polite, considering my adult children can get quite loud and playful at times, LOL. The food is awesome, unfortunately not only did I eat my plate, I tasted what everybody else had as well. I had absolutely no complaints about everything I tasted... Recently, I lost my granddaughter and there are many days I just don't feel like cooking. When calling in a takeout order, they answer the phone quickly, they don't leave you on hold forever, take the order politely, and when they say it's going to be ready you can trust that it will be. On our road trip through eastern Texas we came up on the only place open for dinner on a Monday. (We were coming back from lake fork) The reviews were good so we took a risk. You'll never know, right? So upon arriving we were greeted by a very friendly host/ staff. Seated quickly. There was maybe 3 couples/locals? We noticed a small buffet besides what you can order on the menus. Big in their bbq. So we decided on the buffet and ordered a lb of the bbq ribs. After we sat down a fresh batch of food came out. Not too much of a selection for the buffet. The food was mediocre. Something I would make from a box (I.e mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, gravy, etc) the breaded fish wash cold, the chicken tasted like came from a frozen box of banquet chicken. Ok so the ribs were offered at the end of our meal. I know my bbq and the ribs could not live up to my standards. Sorry but no. Dry and it wasn't falling off the bone. The wife and I stopped in at the Red Done Smokehouse for lunch while we were up in Quitman a couple of weeks ago paying our property taxes. The food was outstanding. I had a sausage sandwich with onion straws and the wife had a slices brisket sandwich with fries. We also shared a slice of coconut cream pie which was amazing... We were totally satisfied and will be back next time we are in Quitman. read more

Let's start with the pros: The waitstaff is very friendly. Alright, now for the cons: For starters, we had a group of 8. We were seated immediately in the side room and ordered shortly afterwards. After an hour we finally received our breakfast and it was sub-par, cold, boxed ingredients. The eggs were edible, but that's about it. We would've been better off making breakfast at home. Also, if you're gluten intolerant, definitely don't bother coming here. Also, the side room just feels dirty. It needs a good scrub down from top to bottom. read more

Yuck. My grandmother lives nearby and brought me to this place for dinner, she said it was the best in town. The food was hardly edible and tasted like everything was processed, then dipped in butter. The restaurant was dingy, old, and run down. And, the menu had meat in nearly every plate, which means us veggies starve. I ate a baked potato, which was, in fact, dipped in butter, served with a side of liquid butter. Im sad to see that the people in this area have rated this place so highly, it means their choices for tasty and fresh food are that limited. It might be 4 stars in their town, but it isnt 4 stars for this foodie and I will not be back. read more

It has been about six months since that fateful first day...Went back a couple of weeks ago and it looks like they finally got it together. The menu was simple and they had three or four items on the lunch special. Their turkey and dressing special was good and had reasonable portion sizes.
