My experience here overall was amazing. There was a heavyset lady at the front desk when I checked…read morein that wasn't as pleasant as the other staff but the rest of the staff customer service made up for it. The room was a nice size for 2 people and we did not feel cramped in there at all. If I would only figure out the thermostat, I would have been fine but I just turned it off and on when needed. The beds were comfortable and clean. Enough soft pillows that I didn't have to ask for more. Breakfast had a few good options. I did enjoy the sausage gravy and biscuits. Overall I will stay there again when I return to Culpepper

Before booking, I specifically asked the reservation agent whether the "suite" was a true suite--defined as having at least two separate rooms--and was assured that it was. Upon arrival, we discovered that the room was simply a larger single room, not a true suite. When we inquired about availability, we were told that the hotel considers larger rooms to be suites. Because we were tired and did not want to search for alternative lodging, we chose to stay. However, we require a separate bedroom so one person can sleep while the other watches television, which only a true suite provides. We are disappointed by the misleading description and believe this practice reflects poorly on the property. As a result, we cannot recommend this hotel and feel it therefore warrants a low rating.

Fountain Hall is a large historic home on a residential street with many stately and beautiful…read morehomes. You have a private room and bathroom, and shared access to one of two kitchens and two living rooms on the ground floor. One kitchen has microwave and toaster oven, but no coffeemaker. The other room had a coffee maker with all the fixings, but no toaster. Both had large tables to sit at and everything was clean and well organized. (Not sure if it's allowed, but we used both kitchens to accomplish our breakfast). There is a coffee maker in the bedroom also. Our room, the Butlers Pantry, was on the ground floor and decorated with antique furniture. It had a private rear entrance. The room was a little cramped with two chairs, a dresser, and a writing desk in addition to the queen size bed, but it was fine for us. The bathroom has a tub with a shower. The common area boasts a beautiful fireplace, lots of antiques and books. There is a private driveway leading to a small parking area and then overflow parking behind the garage. The owners live next-door and we only saw them once, not at all intrusive, but there if you need them. We could hear the train passing by a couple of times in the middle of the night. Did not bother us, just more historic charm. It was about an 8 to 10 minute walk to the restaurants in downtown historic Culpepper.

The proprietors, Kathi and Steve, went above and beyond themselves to make our time there both memorable and enjoyable. The house itself is comfortable, well-appointed (we lacked for nothing!), and convenient to downtown Culpepper. We didn't have a car and didn't need one. Kathi even volunteered to pick us up at the Amtrak station, which is a mere six blocks from the inn, and Steve drove us back there at the end of our visit. I cannot say enough good things about either the house or its owners.

Make sure you get an email day of with a pin. We stayed in the violetta room. It was nice and we thought the bed and bedding was very comfortable. Parking is not included, so their website is a bit misleading on this. There is street parking that's free but it's 2-3 hours parking. No big deal but definitely misleading information from the hotel. Here's the thing. We would stay here again though. It's more like an airbnb than a hotel. There's no one working at the suites so there's no bells and whistles when it comes to service. But the suites were large, nice, clean and near all the things we wanted to do and see on Davis street. We would make sure we got a room w a steam shower next time (our suite had a nice large bathroom and shower but not a steam shower) and we would absolutely make sure we forced an email w our entrance pin out of them before we arrived.

The room was extremely clean which is my number one priority!!! While there is no one on site should you have an issue, the management responded extremely fast, when I reached out. The room came with 6 coffee pods, 2 waters, great TV cable selection...it's a block from a diner, a three minute walk to 2 breweries ( Far Gohn was my favorite for beer, staff and patrons) I can't rave about this place enough!! Oh I came during the week, the rate was 125.00...a steal!!

I'll start out by saying; Im pretty low key. I don't mind if things aren't perfect or high end. Not…read moreso important to me. Especially at a hotel. Im just sleeping there, not living in the room all day. - The room itself was nice looking with what seems to be new wood laminate flooring, clean bathroom and big TV. All good. Its all I need. - The curtains were very thin. With the lights on, everyone outside could see me. The heavier, second set of curtains wouldn't close. They were on 6" runners, so at night, while watching the TV, I felt a bit exposed. - First night, in the room on one side, a dog barked all morning. In the room on the other side there was butt whipping sex all night. No kidding. I was wondering what this cracking sound was until I heard the female. And it didn't sound like a hand slap either. Plus sounded like multiple men in the room. -Second night the same but instead of the dog barking, now both rooms on either side had loud sex. And honestly, it probably wasn't loud. You could hear a fart in the next room, I promise. Not happy. And yes I did tell the front desk about it when I signed out. I wasn't going to say a word but just leave and at the last minute she asked "How was the room?" I told her exactly that and left. -multiple people sex in one room? Somebody needs a sting operation out there but that's prob how that place stays in business. I wouldn't stay there again. Lil sus.
