Stayed here overnight for a wedding and it is definitely no frills but beds were comfortable enough and room was clean. Also, the (almost blackout) curtains covered the entire window for plenty of privacy! I did appreciate how friendly and accommodating the front desk was when I unexpectedly had to come a day late and bring my dog. Couldn't have asked for better efficiency when dealing with them even at checkin and check out! Would stay again if ever in the area! read more

No frills! Basic accommodations that are clean but outdated. That being said, the attached bar/restaurant (Peppers) is pretty good. Their complimentary breakfast is spot on with some of THE best biscuits and gravy I think I've ever had. Behind the bar are several kind and warm folks serving up adult beverages. Sharon took great care of us. The pool area is well kept but seemed more suited for adults. A decent place to lay over on a budget. They'll see me again. read more

Overnight here on 12/29/21. For a Best Western with an adjacent grill/ bar, one expects better, especially for the price. Given a room on the far side of the property. Pretty sure there was plenty of occupancy elsewhere on the property. It was not busy, not a lot of vehicles in the parking area. A/C unit requires work. By work I mean better filtration! Air did not smell clean. Tough to breathe and get a good nights sleep. The shower/ bathtub was an adventure. On "shower mode", a good amount of water still sprayed from the main faucet. Plenty of parking, but not well lighted. I like the infrastructure set up of this hotel, but there is a need to install curtains/ drapes that actually cover the entire window for privacy! Desk clerks competent and helpful. Another hotel chain is nearby, it would've met expectations for nearly the same price. read more

Confusing entrance to the low rise building just off the highway. Just doesn't look like an entrance--too dark, no lights and not particularly inviting. One of the magnetic door cards didn't work at all and the door is really hard to open. However major points to William for coming to us rather than making us come to the front desk. He says that they are replacing all of the locks on 10 December at a cost of $41000! Otherwise, an uneventful stay with a good breakfast! read more

I've stayed here several times in the past and it's been great, just like other reviews have stated, however the last time I stayed (in December 2018) things have changed. The two week days I stayed, it was great. But when Friday night rolled around that's when the problem started. The restaurant has parties Friday and Saturday night, and they have some very loud music with heavy bass. My room was in the courtyard, first floor, and it sounded like the room above me was playing music with loud bass that penetrated clearly into my room. I walked to the front desk and asked them to check it out because it was very loud and it was after 10PM. They informed me it was from the restaurant, and it would continue until about midnight! They also said they could do nothing about it, because the restaurant is separate from the hotel. This was ridiculous. They basically said, sorry, but you will have to listen to it until midnight. I was at an event where I was getting up at 5:30AM each day. I pay for a place to sleep. If I were making that loud of noise past 10PM I'm sure I would have been asked to turn it down or leave the property. The GM later said the same thing when talking to me on the phone. Can't do anything about it. You're warned. If you still decide to book a weekend against my advice, and you can clearly hear the bass, make sure to say something. A couple others complained, but it was so loud that I know everybody could hear it. The only way it will get changed, is if more people say something about it. read more

Family stayed for 2 nights to attend a wedding and we're in a roach infested room. We were not happy about that this at all.

I have nothing good to say about this place. The room next door had been broken into with the door taped shut and visible damage to the door jam, the room smelled musty and the shower rod was broken. There was a smoke alarm chirping all night in a room close by and when I brought it to the front desk's attention he (Brendan) handed me a battery and asked me to change it. It wasn't even in my room! When we returned back to the hotel after 8 pm there were people sitting in the parking lot drinking and using a portable grill. Then around 2 am some more party people were screaming "Sweet Caroline" and clanking bottles. I didn't get any sleep. Upon check out my bill was almost double what the rate quoted to me was on Booking then the same front desk attendant (Brendan) said I booked directly with them and got the rack rate. I couldn't find my confirmation email from booking on my phone because the internet was TERRIBLE. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was on vacation in Florida and didn't want to be disturbed. Supposedly he called him on a cell phone but did not resolve the issue or allow me to talk to him. There are plenty of other options in the area, DO NOT STAY at this Best Western. read more

Stayed here for two nights this past weekend. Check-in was easy at the front desk. We paid $109 per night under a group rate. The room was clean and didn't have any noticeable odors. The sheets were very clean and not itchy. The towels were very thin but clean. Hot water was ample and immediate. The HVAC unit worked very well at both cooling and heating the room. My only complaint was that the mattress was not very supportive and the pillows were an absolute joke: five or so mushy squares that were less supportive than decorative couch pillows. When we were checking out of the room, I did notice a small spider crawling on the bed. See ya! read more

Look, it's a Best Western. The most it could possibly rate is 3 stars. There's no way on earth anyone could justify more for a Best Western in my experience. That said, this one is probably middle of the road. Yeah, it was just OK. Lots of parking, typical room, reasonable beds, almost clean, they let me check in an hour early (since I was in a block of wedding guest reserved rooms) even if the front desk attendant wasn't exactly friendly. Decent toiletries included Pantene shampoo and an acceptable shower. But scratchy towels, dim lights, and the carpet could have used another pass with the vacuum. The breakfast buffet, included, was a notch or two above the typical fare and included fresh fruit salad, real eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, REAL thick cut bacon and sausage patties plus a host of other things including oatmeal. Pretty generous indeed. The coffee was weak though. The reason it gets the A-OK 3 star rating and not 2 is because of the breakfast. Plus I didn't hear the neighbors. It does have a pool if that is of interest. read more

We did not have a good experience here. We checked in on a Thursday night around 5pm and when we got in our room it was still dirty. Not only dirty, I almost think the guests were still staying in the room. Glasses on the table, trash all over the place, so we went back to the front desk and told them it wasn't clean. It wasn't until 8pm until we could get a room. The rooms are very outdated and worn down, they seemed clean enough but for sure not worth the $130 that we paid per night. Our room was in the front of the hotel by the road and ALL night there were truckers partying and starting their trucks, loud engines at about 4am. None of us got any sleep between the uncomfortable beds, pillows, and from what we found out, regular loud guests. Most of us had prepaid for our rooms and could not get a refund but that did not stop us from getting another room at a different hotel. This is pretty much the worst hotel in this little area. We got a room the last night at the microtel which was cheaper and SO much nicer not to mention more quiet. Other went to the holiday inn and were extremely happy. This was the first and last time I'll stay at a best western. The service were recurved was obviously less than desired (and less than friendly) during our stay. read more

We were given a 'non-smoking' room on the ground floor (outside entrance) which was directly across from the elevator where a trash can and smoking station had been set up. Our room smelled of smoke. Within 5 minutes of checking in, we found live bugs - a bug in the refrigerator, one in a dresser drawer and one in a bed! We also found dark hairs in the bed. And, the floor was filthy. We removed our items from the room and I went to the front desk, where I explained the ghastly situation and asked for another room. The clerk there told me that there were no other rooms available and that she would notify the manager of the condition of the room and that she would refund my money. Nothing else - no apology, no offer of assistance in finding other accommodations, nothing. We ended up finding another hotel, but paid dearly for a last-minute room at another hotel. Me and my husband came up from New York for his mother's funeral which happened to fall on the same weekend of our anniversary. We booked a reservation at a historic bed a breakfast at a lavish plantation. It happened to be a cold and rainy weekend and the heat in our room did not work. We barely slept and were freezing all night into the next morning. When breakfast arrived it was very small and carelessly prepared. We decided to check out that morning. We found Best Western online and made a reservation that morning. Great food, heat, clean room, television and kind, helpful and attentive people. When it was check out time our cab didn't show up (we did not know cabs were scarce in Culpeper) we were afraid we would miss our train. The front desk attendants were working very hard to help us find a cab company. Then Daniel, the angel who works at the front desk offered to give us a ride to the train station. We are grateful and will definitely come back when we visit our family. read more

We were staying for 2 nights to go to the Montpelier wine festival. The place had good reviews, and I wish I could give it 4 starts, but there it wasn't amazing. Good: 1. Great customer service 2. Received a welcome bag (cookie/bottle of water) 3. Pretty good breakfast (it's a buffet, but not bad). Note - it doesn't include tip as this is a restaurant part of the motel. Be sure to have some cash. Bad: 1. It's an older place, which isn't a problem per se, but it was quite loud. 2. We hears people talking/yelling/laughing outside after 9 PM and.... 3. We heard the person in the next room (using the bathroom, coughing, etc). Recommendations: 1. If there isn't a renovation soon, considering some sounds proofing in the next maintenance round (green glue works well with another layer of dry wall). I'd give it 4 starts, but at $90/night, I did expect a little more. read more

Thank goodness we were here for only one night. The rooms are small, dated, and worn down. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The customer service we received was incompetent and rude. The breakfast buffet was inedible. But I think the kicker for our stay was our trip to the hotel bar (at about midnight , after a wedding). The wedding group was about 30 people. Instead of telling us that the bar would close at 1am, the hotel manager called the cops to tell the group to quiet down and that no drinks would be served after 1am. We were a group of reasonable people having a nice time. I was extremely offended at this action by the manager, and will not be staying at this, or any other, Best Western again. If you are looking for a place to stay in this area, there is a Holiday Inn Express nearby. read more
