BEWARE! I have used Red Cab many times, usually not the best service... but today took the cake. I got in a Red Cab at the Reservior MBTA taxi stand, heading to a destination down Boylston street. The driver was on his cell phone, which was causing him to not pay attention to the road AT ALL. I politely asked him to please not talk on his cell while driving. Out of nowhere he went NUTS! He started screaming at me that, if I didn't want him on his cell, I shouldn't have gotten in his cab. He tried to kick me out of the cab on the side of the road and strand me, plus wanted paid. I asked him for the number for Red Cab because I was going to call the dispatcher and report what was going on, but the number wasn't visible in the cab and he wouldn't tell me anything. Refusing, he kept screaming at me in some foreign language, being very verbally abusive and scary. I told him I would call 911, which I ultimately had to because, at that point, with me still in the cab, he shadily hid his credentials, turned off the meter, and started to drive God knows where. I had to stay on the phone with the Newton police, at which point he must have gotten scared and started driving me toward my destination. At the first point that I knew where I was, I hopped out of the cab. He drove off before I could get his number or plate from the cab. I tried to report the incident to Red Cab management, but the "supervisor" spoke no English and was very clearly disinterested in helping me get to the bottom of this. I will be reporting this to the City taxi authority. Please do not use Red Cab, and if you must, (and in general for any cab), protect yourself and look at the cab ID number or driver credential name before you get in!!! read more
