I used Metro Cab to get from Logan to near Boston College and then back to the airport. Both trips were great, and they cost about what my friends paid on Lyft. For the return trip I called at 9 am for an 11 am pickup. The driver was super prompt; I got a text that the driver was arriving in 9 minutes, which he did. That had him arriving about 10 minutes early but he cheerfully waited for me to be ready at the agreed time. Both drivers were experienced good drivers, very polite, and a pleasure to talk with. The only small issue was waiting on hold about a minute and a half before the dispatcher picked up the phone at 9 am. Easy to find the taxi stand at the airport -- at the airport you just take whoever is first in line, and I got lucky. I recommend Metro Cab. read more

I booked a ride 3 days in advance for a early morning pick up and no one showed up. The person I booked with was incredibly rude and sounded drunk. When I called to say no one showed up the dispatcher at that time told me it wasn't even booked in the system. He was very nice and sent someone right away for me which is why it is getting two stars instead of one. read more

Your drivers are completely out of line when it comes to safety! Driving past other vehicles is inappropriate and illegal for that matter! Especially on a one way street. I recommend a rigorous study to see if the driver is capable to keep the company in good standards! read more

I really dislike this cab company. Why is it that I have had multiple experiences with this company where drivers take a way much longer than I need? I think cab drivers should become well versed in the major bars of the city they drive in (this is the only time I dont drive places in boston). I usually know where I am going and have gotten in many arguments with cab drivers who have taken wrong turns. One time I took a cab of theirs from the Westin Copley to Norhteastern University (same road), the cab driver wen in the wrong direction. Only reason I didn't walk was because my gf was in heels. My girlfriends and I were visiting Boston and staying downtown. We needed a ride to airport so our hotel the Hyatt front desk said it takes a few minutes for a taxi to come so we preordered it in advance. It was on time. I asked my hotel to give me a name of a reliable cab company because I had a very early flight out of Logan the next morning and they gave me this name. I called the night before and scheduled for 5 am pickup. My hotel had to call them Twice to find out where they were and the guy shows up 20 min late!!! No apologies or explanation for the lateness. Not my choice to take taxi cabs because Uber and Lyft are sooo much better but figured a scheduling ahead is a no brainer for them. When we got to the airport, driver expected a tip and gave him a very small tip for being late. He's lucky he even got one! The inconsistency of MetroCab is just downright ridiculous. I am secretly laughing at all of the five star reviews. I know its evil, but I can't wait to see their updates with the one star and the pissed review of how they were left in the rain to be attacked by an alleyway of hobos cuz they weren't picked up in the 5 minutes that they were promised and how they were so mislead and will never take the service again. Cabs just suck. How can anyone say that a cab is reliable is beyond me. Sure, they're faster and sometimes more convenient than the T, but like said, they're very inconsistent. I only gave a 1 Star because the dispatchers are nice. Left my fathers "Erickson Metals" coat in a cab from the airport. The airport police knew exactly who he was and which cab. They spoke to the Eastern European individual very soon after I left the cab. He said he didn't have it which is complete nonsense. My father had just died. No monetary value but priceless from a sentimental standpoint. Nobody wanted to help because nobody cared. He didn't want to deal with it. The B&B that I stayed in in Brookline called them to arrange for an 8:15 pick up on Saturday, June 8th. They were prompt and very courteous. Later that day, the same B&B reserved another car with them at 6 pm for a pickup at 9:00 p.m., to take me to a train that was leaving Bay Bay station at 9:36. They did not show. I called. A man who was slurring his words said "No one's picked up the fare." He was barely understandable. I had to repeat myself numerous times. We got disconnected. I tried again. Put on hold or no one picking up. I contacted the owner of the B&B, who may have gotten through. At approximately 9:23 p.m. a Metro taxi finally arrived. The driver did not get out of the car to help me with my luggage, which I was struggling to place in the SUV (I'm short and not strong). I worked as quickly as I could and repeated my destination. I asked the driver if we could make it. To his credit, the driver tried. The traffic was pretty thick (it was Gay Pride night and there was a home baseball game, to boot) but the driver managed to get me across the street from Back Bay Station at 9:34 p.m. He got out of the car and stood in traffic and put up his hand so that I could literally RUN to get my train. He didn't need to do that, but I was grateful that he had. Luckily for me, the train was late. Very late, like 40 minutes. But Amtrak hadn't bothered to text the passengers about that, so we didn't know. I could not say that this company was reliable. My experience was that they were reliable 50% of the time. I cannot get back the half hour of my life during which I was panicking that I'd be left for the night in Boston (I was very unhappy with the room at the hotel, and had left early. Since it was a busy weekend in Boston, there were very few if any hotel rooms left). If you're in a hurry or REALLY have to be some place at a designated time, you may want to call another company. It's really too bad because the first driver was great, and the second one made up for not helping me with my luggage by "stepping on it" to get me to the train. And the dispatcher -- well, I don't know what was going on there but he was slurring. read more

This is the first time I have ever done an abacus-like addition and subtraction game of giving stars in my head while considering a yelp review. Tired after a long day and leaving the Prudential center, two friends and I picked up a Metro Cab for the Boston Convention Center. Immediately upon entering we were surprised to see the cab driver SMOKING. In the cab. RIDING WITH HIS TEENAGED DAUGHTER in the passenger seat. What. The Hell. I was exhausted, and i wanted to shout a loud loud HELL NO, but I just sighed, and stared with amused detachment at the "This Cab is Smokefree" sticker mocking me in the backseat. Five minute mark: Mental rating: 1 star and bitchy review on yelp. Then we started chatting with the driver. "What're you guys doing here?" he asked. "We're at a teacher's conference," we replied. "Teachers huh? You guys don't get nearly enough respect. You do everything! You make the whole world." I coughed over the smoke, but smiled a half smile as the bright lights of the city flashed on by. 10 minutes in: Mental rating: 3 stars. "As long as you don't teach history," he said through the cloud of smoke. "I hated ancient history." New mental rating, eleven minutes in: NEGATIVE FIFTY STARS. "But I learned later that if things could be taught that mattered, I'd love it," he said, suddenly turning warm and philosophical. "Real history, that's what counts. I've lived it. Kennedy's assassination, Watergate, the wars, Iraq and all. I've been there. And take my daughter. She's seen so much, been through so much. Been to more wakes than I have in my entirely life. Her friends dropping to drugs or violence, or the neighborhood. Breaks my heart. That's history I can understand." Suddenly, I began to understand why he drove around with his daughter on a Thursday night. Perhaps he didn't feel safe having her around at home. More importntly, he was friendly and honest, and helped me know so much more about local history, about Boston, in the short trip we took through the brightly lit streets. Twenty minutes in, smile on my face, and watery eyes either form the emotion or the damned nicotine filling the air, I had to give MetroCab a 4 stars and the driver an extra tip. I live in a high rise and the concierge calls for cabs. I went downstairs today to see it was raining and decided to ask for a cab instead of walking the two miles in the rain to my pub. My concierge calls Metro Cab, gives them my apartment number, name, and where I'm going. He very, VERY clearly says, "Kendall Square, Cambridge". I head out front to wait for my cab. 20 minutes later a bunch of cabs show up, most of them fill up. I approach a remaining one, they give an apartment number that's not mine. I approach the second, they give my number so I get in and tell them where I'm heading after saying I'm going to pay with credit card. The cab driver is silent for fifteen awkward seconds then says, "I don't know where that is." I ask if he knows where various other landmarks are (i.e. MIT) and he responds after another period of silence that he doesn't and I'll need to get another cab. I say to him that I can navigate us there and I'll give him a fifty percent tip if he'll just take me. He turns around in his seat and yells at me, "Get out of my cab". Thanks asshole, how terrible of me to offer a lot of money for you to follow my directions. I wish I could be such a huge cock gobbler in the face of someone offering me a massive tip I'd never deserve. I tell him because he was called FOR ME that he needs to call in for another taxi to come out and get me. He tells me to call again myself. The only thing that kept me from verbally ripping this massive douche balloon a new asshole was a Checker Cab driver who pulled up right next to us interrupting me and saying he could get me to Kendall Square super quick and cheap if I didn't mind sharing a cab (which he did and I'm about to go leave them a glowing review). In short though, screw Metro Cab and I'll be sure to specify to the concierge if I ever use them to call a cab again that I want NOTHING to do with this joke of a company. read more

A couple of things.... 1) I've never been in a Metro cab when the driver was NOT talking on the phone. Really...never in 5 years. No one has that many friends and family. 2) The entire Mastercard industry needs all new IT people because their credit card machines never work....apparently. 3) Yes I'm a 20 something yuppie on my cell phone. Because of all the bad Yelp reviews I was super cautious using this company. I called for a 5:15am cab and at 5:10 the driver still hadn't called me to let me know they were on the way so I called dispatch and wow...AWFUL AWFUL customer service. Huge attitude and actually got hung up on. Luckily the driver showed up right on time and was so pleasant. The ride was cheaper than Uber because of the holiday. Outstanding service to the airport. They have a great system that remembers your phone number and address. They even know apparently, where they took you last time. They text you when they arrive at your house. They accept credit cards. They are incredibly prompt. They are the only people I can depend on to get me to Logan. Don't ever use their service if you are trying to get somewhere on time. After waiting for a car for 25 min i call them and they said the car would be there in 5 min, i waited 10 more min before i called them again and they told me, the car was a mile away, after 15 more min, they told me the driver picked some up on his way, and they couldn't do anything about, and they didn't send me another car. Zero star really! Very dishonest! Picked up this cab the night of 8/27/18 from Faneuill marketplace to take us back to Black Falcon cruise terminal, 2.6 mi. The driver (10059, he said he's from Haiti) gave us the runaround, told us there were 3 terminals, confused us. It's hard to believe that a local driver wouldn't know where the cruise terminal was, where a lot of their business comes from. This was very obvious as he was driving into empty parking lots and navy shipyard where there was nobody there. He pretended to offer to stop his meter at some point, which he did at over $40. Going to the marketplace from the cruise terminal earlier only cost us $10-12. While deep inside we knew we were being taken for a ride, we kept our cool as we didn't want to be thrown out of his cab in the middle of nowhere. But we were nervous and silently panicking as we didn't want to miss our cruise. A sour taste to an otherwise pleasant experience in Boston! read more

I would never recommend Metro Cab to someone, unless I hated that person and wanted to ruin their day. The dispatchers are curt and rude and make it seem like they resent your business. I have had bad experiences every time I took a Metro Cab and once after waiting for a REALLY long time for a cab I had called to arrive and calling back SEVERAL times and being LIED to about where it was, I instead called Yellow Cab in Medford. I adore them and that will be my next review! Although I don't understand the logistics of when a cab will take you from the city to a suburb and from a suburb to the city, I know Yellow Cab will! read more

So there is definitely a love-hate relationship going on between Metro Cab and the customers who have reviewed them here on Yelp. My personal experience with Metro is nothing but pleasant. I have consistently used them while being in Boston (they are the ONLY cab company I have saved in my phone) and I have always been satisfied. From the phone operator to the cabbies themselves, they are always friendly and fast. I've had short, friendly convos with the people who have answered the phone and long, friendly convos with the cabbies who pick me up. When I reserve a cab, I usually get one in 10 minutes or less (most often about 5 minutes). I decided to write this review after a metro cab picked me up from the South End after the gay bar crawl and I had a great conversation with an awesome driver. We smoked some butts in the van and just chit-chatted the whole drive. And not too long ago, another metro cab drove me to Machine and I had the nicest driver ever. He was friendly and very happy to be working. He even gave off a 'father' figure attitude when he was telling me to be careful when he dropped me off and to make sure I be safe at the club since I was alone at the time. Nothing but great experiences here. Will continue to keep them as my ONLY cab contact in my cell. read more

I mean, let's be honest. All cabs suck. I popped Metro Cab in my phone when I first moved here simply because I saw a lot of them around, and the bf knew about it. That was reason enough for me to insert the obligatory 'cab' phone number into my phone. I then called on them weekly to take me to the airport for early Monday morning flights, and surprisingly those were always on time and consistent, not taking me some backasswards way or anything. And, they even called when they were downstairs (given it was a recording, but at least you didn't have to wait around!) So I generally liked them.... ...then they didn't take a credit card on a day I had NO cash. Why ask? Why ask "cash or credit" if you really only mean "cash or I'll scoff at you and get pissed". ...then they bitched at my bf because they had been waiting 5 minutes to take him to South Station for an early am train to NYC....thing is, they showed up 10 min early to pick him up. Whose fault exactly is that? ...then that same cabbie yelled at my bf because he didn't have cash. Again. Why. Ask. Cash. Or. Credit. If. You. Don't. Take. Cards. Ended up essentially throwing him out of the cab (bf didn't pay) ...then the auto-recording called up to say "my cab had arrived" and by the time I came downstairs, it was gone. What?!?!?! I changed my default 'cab' number to Top Cab. The only reason I'll call MC again is in case Top Cab has a long wait. I'd say I'll never use them again except they are f'ing everywhere. read more

I'm right there with Jess K. I called to have them take me from JP to Brookline and was given the "expect someone in 15 minutes" routine. Called after 20 minutes to check on my ride and was told I didn't give a legit location for pickup so the request was never placed. This information would have been helpful at the time I made the reservation. SO I made another one, waited another 20 minutes, canceled my appointment in Brookline and accepted whatever charges and proceeded to ignore calls from Metro when the finally showed up AN HOUR after I first called. Bullshit. Never use this company if you want (A) Reliable service or (B) Friendly and helpful dispatchers. They have the ability to ruin your day. AGAIN this place sucks so bad. Forgetting which company ruined my day back in May I mistakenly called Metro for a ride out in Arlington. Called back 30 mins to check on my ride and SOMEONE CANCELED IT. Wow. Lots of haters here. I have had fantastic luck with these guys when I reserve a cab the night before. If you are going to the airport or somewhere else where timing is super important, call ahead and they will be on time, if not early. They have never let me down, they come over from Boston to pick me up in Cambridge (they can do this if you call ahead and reserve), and the drivers are always super friendly. That gets them four stars in my book. Star number 5? Imagine this....dislocated kneecap, immobilizing brace, car encrusted in ice, sidewalks impassably icy, even for the able-bodied, have to go to work, all of Boston/Cambridge/Somerville is calling a cab. I called these guys, they have me in their computer as a good customer, they pull a cab off another call (sorry if it was you, but being a good customer has to get you something, haters! :) ) and get me to work. They were super tolerant of the fact that it would take me awhile to get downstairs, the driver got out of the cab to help me in without falling on my ass, and he got as close to my door at work as possible. This is the worst cab company in the city of Boston. Seriously, use Redcab or Veterans or ANYONE else. I once called a cab when I was by myself downtown to go to Brighton (several years ago). I waited for half an hour, called several times to find out where they were, to no avail, and finally hailed another cab that was passing by. I got a phone call from the phone operator maybe 15 minutes after that, literally screaming at me for not being at the spot when I had left. Picture a middle aged man, bright red with blood vessels in his forehead brusting because he is screaming in anger, and thats what this guy (probably) looked like. Anyway, my friend recently called them without my knowledge from my cell phone, and they informed her that my number was "blocked" from ever receiving service from them. INSANE! They took 30 minutes to get to me when they said 5, and when I leave they "block" me? What kindof cab company is this??? Veterans and Redcab. Do it. read more

My cab company of choice, and I use them at least weekly. Always show up as promised (Charlestown) usually a minute early. So far the drivers have been personable and professional. Also honest... My 3 year old son left his backpack in the back seat on Halloween evening. The company put out an alert and the driver called us back within an hour. I would most definitely recommend Metro cab to everyone I know! I call them at the very least twice a week and they are always awesome. The dispatchers are polite and helpful. I love that they take credit cards for the days when I'm running late and have no cash (but as mentioned below you do need to ask for a credit card cab b/c they are not all equipped to process them). The cabs always arrive in a timely fashion and get me to my destination with no trouble. The drivers themselves are very respectful, kind, and friendly. They can chat you up but also sense when to just let you be. I have been calling them for a year and wouldn't dream of using anyone else :) My one complaint is even though they have vans that can technically seat 6 people they won't let you have more than 4. So if going out with a larger group they'll send 2 cabs which kinda sucks. read more

Do NOT rely on this company to provide any special accommodations. My friend who uses a motorized wheelchair needed a cab at 4:15am to get to Logan Airport last week. He called 4 times over the previous month to explain to them his needs, and was assured again and again that they could accommodate us. When the cab came, he and his wheelchair could not fit inside, and the driver said "oh, you need the other van with the lower floor", despite being assured on several occasions that the correct van would have been sent. After waiting 35 minutes, the other van never came, and we had no choice but to drive ourselves to the airport less than an hour before our flight - we even called the airline for a later flight but it was full. We had to pay $192 to park at Logan, and contacted the taxi's manager, Steve Sullvan, who told us that his employee was misinformed in promising us accommodation, but he would not help us simply because his "cabs conform to city regulations" and that he "honestly doesn't think he did anything wrong". Apparently, admitting an employee was "misguided" in providing inaccurate information that caused us inconvenience and great expense does not qualify as a problem in his mind. Not only are the employees misinformed, but the manager could not have cared less about fixing the situation. ANYONE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS SHOULD AVOID THIS CAB COMPANY. read more

I gave Metro two stars in February. Now I wish I could give them zero. Don't even read this review. Just go find another cab company. Are you still reading? Well, we needed a pickup from a store on Sunday. We called and the rude dispatcher didn't even even give us an estimate - she just said, "Fine," and hung up. So, not knowing how long we should wait, we waited 35 minutes before finally calling them back. This time they said 10-15 minutes. So we waited 20 minutes. Nothing. Finally we called another cab company. While we waited for the other cab company, a Metro Cab pulled into the parking lot. But not to pick us up. The guy parked, did some shopping, and pulled away. All in all, we stood outside the store for 80 minutes without ever having a Metro Cab show up (to pick us up). We've had problems with them in the past. The other reviews on here are atrocious. They are unbelievably rude on the phone - you shouldn't speak like this to anyone ever, let alone a paying customer. They say they will pick you up and don't. Don't take the chance that you will be waiting outside for over an hour. Just give another cab company a call. read more

While I am one to usually give the benefit of the doubt there are a couple of simple rules I go by: 1) You don't spit into the wind 2) You don't tug on Superman's Cape 3) You don't pull the mask off an 'ole Lone Ranger 4) You DON'T make me miss the train when I need to pickup/drop-off my kids. I called Metro Cab 55 minutes before my train was due to depart from Ruggles. I live in Brookline, less than a 10 minute ride. This was on a Sunday afternoon, no big events going on that I knew of. So I am outside and I see a metro cab down the street and they stop, turn around and LEAVE. I call them frantically and ask what is going on and of course I am put on hold. They then tell me that is not my cab and my cab is on the way 5 minutes away. But then in 10 minutes later they call to ask the address which of course they had correct to begin with. So I proceeded to call Red Cab who showed up in less than 10 minutes. I then called to cancel metro Cab. While this is a one time experience, I will probably not try them next time I have a train to catch or something like that. I have no problem hailing one in the street and in fact had a nice ride from Back Bay back to Brookline a couple of weeks ago, but I took the cab from the cab stand. read more

taxi #221 WOW What a MANIAC!!! id give it begative stars if i had the option to! i was just driving home, about 10 min ago at most, & i approached a rotary (coming off from route 1A) at Boardman St & Saratoga St in East Boston. I stop at my stop sign & enter the rotary, where i have the right away when in the rotary, & out of nowhere this car comes FLYINGGG up towards me as i exited the rotary onto Saratoga St., which would be my 2nd exit from when i entered the rotary. This car turned out to be a taxi cab, Metro Cab #221, more respectively. He almost hit me on the passenger side of my Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab pick-up. I slammed on my brakes even though i was going 10 MPH because: A] im in a very small rotary, coming from a stop sign B] there was a red light at the intersection, 50-ft ahead, at Bennington St & Saratoga St C] its late at night, happening at 10:28pm, & it was snowing out so the streets had a coating of snow on it & this guy swerves around me!! i have the right away first off, & second, he shouldnt be traveling at a fast rate of speed for that street, for the weather conditions, & for him approaching a rotary!!! Luckily, i was paying attention & stopped just in time. I seen head lights coming from that direction as i entered the rotary, & as i was about to exit, he wasnt that close to me that i thought id have to slam on my brakes or that i thought id have to stop while in the rotary... esp since hes supposed to yield to me as i have the right away. Also, he is lucky that just as im slamming on the brakes & hes swerving to go around the front end of my truck (right in front of the funeral home, the light turns green & the person first in line at the light, goes straight right as the light turns, otherwise the cab driver wouldve either smashed into the back of his Cherokee, or slammes on hos brakes. i wouldnt be surprised if he went around the SUV to keep maintaining his speed!! As i drive behind him on Saratoga approaching the town of Winthrop, the cab driver was still behind the Cherokee, & up his ass! The Cherokee seemed to be maintaining his speed around 30mph, not once hitting his brakes as he drove towards Winthrop, bur the cab driver would keep hitting his brakes & was up the guys ass! I wouldve slammed on my brakes if i were him, just so the cab driver would hit me.... he wouldnt even be able to stop, thats how close he was to the SUV. Finally the cab driver stops when pulling into the parking lot of the Belle Isle Wine & Spirits. I slowed to an almost complete stop just to get the telephone number that was listed on the side of the taxi cab. I immediately called Meteo Cab at 1030pm to complain. The guy who answered didnt apologize to me, didnt say 'im sorry ma'am'...... he only said 'Thank you' & said something along the lines of he will tell the supervisor? Not sure exactly word for word what was said, the guy spoke so fast & quickly - probably to get me off the phone as soon as possible - but it was similar to that. Then he hung up on me! no goodbye, nothing! & im sure that this cab driver wont even get a verbal warning, if the guy who answered even told his supervisor or whoever is in charge. i know which taxi to never call or take no matter the situation, the rush or availability of taxis or my needing one!!! I could have gotten seriously injured or even killed, he could have, a pedestrian could have, someone in another vehicle could have.... theres absolutely no reason for someone to drive like a maniac. i wish there was a cop who seen this happen & pull him over!! read more

I called yesterday to get a cab for my friend, who uses a wheelchair, to get to the airport. I requested to be picked up at 7:45. They said they could send a cab for 8:15. This morning at 8:10, the dispatcher called and said they didn't have any cabs available. As of this writing, my friend is scrambling on public transportation to try to get to Logan to catch a flight. Air travel can be difficult for anybody. For the disabled it is an even bigger hassle. For the disabled who rely on Metrocab, it is a nightmare. read more

So I needed to send my family to Logan to catch a flight to Miami, and they needed a van to put all their luggage on. I decided to book a van a day in advance through their new app (bad, very bad idea), because you know, the "Uberification" of everything. The van was supposed to arrive at 9:30 am, at 9:45 I get a call from a dispatcher saying that the cab was gonna be at my house within the next 20 (twenty!!!) minutes. His reason, the snow. I'm sorry but if I make a reservation one day in advance, there is simply not enough snow in the world (ok, maybe there is) to keep you from being there on time. That's the whole reason why I made the reservation a day ahead! The guy on the phone wasn't even offering an apology, and he got very confrontational very quickly. My recommendation, stay away from this company and their crappy app. Stick to Lyft and Uber. read more
