We went there during posted opening hours, 5 pm on a Saturday. Door was locked. Area was real sketchy so we locked our car doors and left.

Santino's Tap & Table - Scrapple Bites

Santino's Tap & Table

(66 reviews)

It is hard to find places right near we live that are consistently good that also have a robust…read moremenu and also offer rotating dishes, especially those that have unique choices that change seasonally; Santino's Tap & Table meets that need. I have been here a few times, with the first visit being the best of the three "attempted" visits, I believe. The first time we were so impressed with both the service and the food that we had been looking for every opportunity to go back and enjoy a meal without the distraction of other people or kids, and when we did finally secure that on a random Thursday early evening, we were sorely disappointed. We arrived at 4 in the afternoon, it was a bit busy for that time of day, with most of the seating already taken. However, there were several booths open as well as a larger table open. When we asked to be seated (no one else was waiting) we were politely told that there was nothing available and that all the remaining tables were reserved for people at 5pm. This is by no means the fault of the hostesses but there was also no reason we couldn't be seated and we left very disappointed and a bit bothered. So having a third chance to go to Santino's again, was also a good experience, just not as exciting and outstanding as the first. Our server was great, as the staff has always been, even when we were turned away, but nothing really stood out as anything special this time. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I was sold on the meatball salad, which was a concept that seemed really strange to me at first, but then I cozied up to it and convinced myself it was a great, unique thing. It was bland at best, but still interesting! Everything else was just okay. Not what I remembered from the original time I had been here. All of that said, this is still somewhere I will go again. The draw of the unique, rotating menu is too great, and the people that work here are wonderful. Plus it's nearby and easy! Give Santino's a try. Maybe it was an off day the last time I was there and maybe the one time, they were simply too busy or worried we wouldn't be finished before their reserved seating showed up. Either way, it's worth some of your time, a taste, and some of your dollars.

Overall, this is a solid restaurant. You are a little better off with pizzas and more of the bar…read moretype food, but each thing I have tried here I enjoyed. It is not the greatest food I have ever had, but when in need of a casual night out to grab some food, it does the trick. Friendly staff and it is a decent-sized space. A lot of TVs, even in the dining room, if it's a sports night.

Terrell’s - Catfish with macaroni and sautéed spinach

Lamar was the perfect host, polite, informative, and attentive. He was ready with suggestions and…read morethey were a hit with both myself and my friend. I had the two eggs platter, but the side waffle stole the show! The peach cobbler waffle was such a sweet surprise. Definitely a must! My friend had the fish hoagie and quite enjoyed it. Her side of bacon was ample. A revisit is assured.

The food here is excellent. The macaroni was blended with several cheeses I think and with the…read morefried crumble that makes it so outstanding. The sautéed spinach has a great balance of garlic and oil but not too much. My catfish balanced its fried crispiness well. They forgot the tartar sauce and I didn't want to ask for it because it took awhile and there seemed to be some confusion. The mango tea maybe could've used more mango flavor but it was fine. The iced tea was not too sweet- very classy. They seem to have a hard time keeping up with orders on a busy night- so be mindful of that. The food is worth the wait. Staff is very friendly. I think the staff was collecting info electronically but navigating through the software and not having a good system for what table needs what food and who is to serve what table may be discombobulating to some among the staff and customers at different points of view. The bathroom needed fixing because a customer didn't have things in order inside of it. There was another bathroom not expected to have to be used but it had no soap in it. With the size of this place sectioned off in two, is there only one toilet? I didn't check to find out since I didn't have to. A small thing was that I accidentally was charged for my friend's meal and vice versa but my friend and I decided not to fuss about it because it was a $1 difference as long as I paid for his entree which was attached to my drink. They were out of yams and some other side. The potatoes and the way they were seasoned were one of the best that my friend has had. One of the customers next to us told us this was the 4th day this place was open. With all the hiccups, I would recommend offering random food to go as an extra bonus or a discount to respective customers if possible . I understand not wanting to offer a discount - especially for a restaurant just starting off. With the jazzy music playing tonight, it fit the vibe so well. The place wasn't too loud but the volume was enough to hear it. This place really feels out balance well in its food, decor, and music. They may have r&b instead of jazzy numbers playing as well. Addendum 10/26/25: I thought of more things I need to add. I personally like that Terrell's wants to infuse technology to make for a potentially smoother process. Lack of paper is sustainable. However, the tiny devices that are typically used for collecting payment only is too hard to navigate as the screen is small and the software might not be the best. Tablets would be more appropriate because the screen is big enough but also thin enough to still be reasonably portable. Also makes things easier to split bills and customize properly etc. I understand that cost could be a factor- so starting back to old school paper is probably most appropriate. If typical paper doesn't suit the setting well, there must be nicer pads of paper to suit the environment well. I want this place to do well and I think it will but much time is needed to work out the kinks. While there is no one right way, there are definitely things that aren't quite working either.
