First time here. Me and my husband ate here around 2:30. Not too busy, didn't have to wait. Got our food quickly I ordered the lunch special 2 sushi rolls and a salad. Spicy Tuna roll(I couldn't eat it) I thought it was something different. And the Red Bowl Roll which was ok. The salad comes with some weird dressing it tastes ok but I usually get ranch which they did not have. My husband ordered an egg roll which he really liked and the House Fried Rice with just chicken. Definitely not for vegetarians. My husband and I are vegetarian and generally find Asian a safe choice, however there was no tofu or alternate protein on the menu. We told our server we were vegetarian and I ordered the fried rice, no meat. When it arrived it had chicken and shrimp mixed in. When I pointed it out to the server, she said "oh...do you want me to take the meat off?" Seriously?? I told her never mind, I'll eat around it. Tried a little of it but basically it was white rice with oil and soy sauce. The food here is actually good, it's a chain restaurant and it's got many dishes that are better than most Asian restaurants in the South. However, the issue I have is the laziness of the staff at the Clemson location. They are slower than the Columbia location, less attentive, and now I had the experience of seeing them closing up early because they said they had no business for an hour. If you post your hours to say you are open until 10pm on your website and storefront, there should be no reason to arrive at 9:33pm and be told you already closed. I am sure the owners will love to know that they lost the opportunity to earn revenue after a slow night, and lost future business at both their Clemson and Columbia location. This was a big disappointment. We had been to the Red Bowl numerous times in Burlington, NC and we loved each and every experience. We were so excited to see that there was a Red Bowl in Clemson while visiting the University. Ugh. It was awful! I'm not even sure where to begin. We began with a couple of appetizers - but were never given appetizer plates. As a result we had sauces dripping all over the table. The presentation of food was unappealing. Edamame strewn on a plate (dry & unsalted), overcooked beef teriyaki over a handful of iceberg lettuce, fried rice that looked & tasted like white rice with only a few veggies, almost no sauce with either entree & then when I pointed out that I had ordered brown rice instead of white rice they obviously just pushed some of the white rice off of the place & then plopped the brown rice over it. All in all a less than mediocre dining experience with an amateur chef staff. So very disappointing. They should visit the Red Bowl in Burlington to see how to do it right. I ordered the Angel Hair Roll sushi which is described in the menu as Shrimp tempura crumb, masago and spicy mayo top with crab & masago. Since SHRIMP is the first word in the description sounds like you're going to have great shrimp and crab sushi, right. Well NOT. The sushi consists of the breading of shrimp tempura rolled in seaweed and rice and FAKE crab on top. If Shrimp is the first word in your description, wouldn't you think there would be shrimp in the sushi.....Well I did but there wasn't. If it says it's topped with Crab with a "C" and no asterisk, wouldn't you think you were getting real Crab....well you aren't. I asked the waitress and she said it did say it wasn't real crab but it says so. Well if it doesn't there isn't a notation in the menu description. The waitress asked if I wanted something else and I asked if I would have to pay for it and she said yes. Came here while visiting Clemson. I would suggest this place as a sushi place but not for Chinese. Sweet and Sour chicken tastes pre-made and like the same thing I could order for a couple bucks cheaper than here. The sushi on the other hand is very good but comes with a pricey tag. My advice would be just order the sushi and come for drinks during happy hour when they are cheap to get the best bang for your buck and your stomach filled up. read more

Came for supper for the first time in a year, left very disappointed. Ordered the Asian Steak, salmon roll, tuna roll, Thai calamari, and miso soup. The Asian Steak is advertised as New York strip with rice, but the beef was freezer burnt, dry, and tough. I doubt it was strip, but if so they had ruined it. The fried rice didn't pass muster: undercooked and crunchy, basically still white, an insignificant amount of egg, a tiny amount of peas and carrots, no flavor. The calamari was supposed to come with two sauces, but was missing the spicy sauce and delivered with a bowl of some other incorrect sauce, not the Thai lemon. The salmon- and tuna rolls were the only bright spot, hefty cuts of fish. The server was friendly, attentive to drinks, handled our large party with grace. First, Red Bowl is not fast food, it is a bistro with a full bar, waitstaff and hostess. Great atmosphere and comfortable dining. I'm not sure where the other reviewers are coming from, but I'm guessing they were dining together and don't know much about fresh Asian food. The food is fresh, flavorful and abundant.
