Let me start off by saying in the past (pre-pandemic), my family enjoyed Red Bowl. however, upon returning, we were highly dissatisfied and will not be back.
We walked in and were promptly seated at a booth that was out of the way from other guests, which was good. The waitress took our drink order and left us to ponder the menu. My daughter ordered the egg drop soup (which she enjoyed), I ordered a stir fry, we ordered 2 kids meals, and some won tons. This is where it all flew downhill. We received the won tons, which were sub par in my opinion. They had very little flavor & the sweet & sour sauce they are served with was overly sweet, no sour at all. Our food arrived and then cheese sticks that we ordered for one of my girls arrived without marinara. No problem, I simply asked for marinara. The waitress responded-with attitude, might I add- that they don't have marinara sauce. Okay, that's fine. We simply asked if we could return the cheese sticks. If you don't serve the sauce a dish is typically served with, why offer the dish? She huffed and took the cheese sticks back to the kitchen, along with the lo mein on my daughter's plate. She returned with some fried shrimp and the same lo mein. Before the pandemic, I wouldn't have noticed or cared that she did this. However, with COVID running rampant in our area, I would at least expect her to handle that situation a bit differently. I didn't say anything, I just thanked her and let it go. The shrimp they brought out for my daughter was caked in breading (not tempura, these shrimp were clearly frozen), and the shrimp had no taste at all. The lo mein was okay. My stir fry had barely any mushrooms and an overwhelming amount of zucchini, but whatever. I ate what I thought was good enough to eat. Overall, each dish was bland. We would have been much better off going to any of the local Chinese restaurants that serve the frozen stuff straight out of the bag. They offer more flavor with their dishes. I was also alarmed by a total lack of social distancing or any type of safety measures to curb the spread of COVID. As we sat for our meal, the tables to our left, the table in front of, and the table behind us were all sat with parties of 4+ and we were close enough to reach out and touch guests in each of those parties. The attitude of our waitress was beyond acceptable. When I asked for our check, she huffed about that too! If you don't wanna be a waitress, don't apply for the job. That's all I can say on that issue.
The only positive thing I can say about Red Bowl is they offer chopsticks that are rigged in a way that kids can have fun using them, even if they don't know how to use chop sticks.
Needless to say, we won't be back again. read more
