Food was good and service was so awesome. Amy was our server and she was so so sweet and super attentive. Overall super great vibe

The service was horrible. Our waitress never came back to check on us and left our drinks empty before we even got our food. The chicken was flavorless and took minutes to chew one piece, and the steak was raw (completely pink). When I went to pay for my food, I tipped our server $1 (which I would consider kind considering how awful the experience was) then another server proceeded to ask if that was all I was going to tip. Highly recommend NOT coming to this restaurant. read more

Located in Tiger Plaza right off Tiger Blvd in Clemson, this is a great place if you want sushi or hibachi. The hubby and I had both and it was all yummy. Between us we had the avocado roll, the salmon crunch roll, the Philadelphia roll and the half cut firecracker roll. Both came with the house salad with ginger dressing and a side of fried vegetables (tempura sweet potatoes, onions, and zucchini ). In addition, the hubby had the teriyaki chicken and miso soup and I had the fried rice. Needless to say it was waaaaaay more food than we could eat. We had leftovers for dinner. Shakeyra was our server. She was very attentive. Her sweet, friendly demeanor was an added bonus to our visit. The sushi was extremely fresh tasting. (Evidently most ingredients arrive fresh daily.) You can watch as the chef prepares it. Overall ambiance was fine, service was great and food was excellent. The hubby was already a fan-he's been here several times. One of my new faves. read more

Tokyo Sushi Grill - Tuna love. Oceans 11. Sake bomb. - Japanese Near Me - Clemson, South Carolina

The service was very good in spite of a busy lunchtime and a short wait staff. Our server, Jordan, was a pro and balanced the tables well. It was graduation day, so the restaurant was getting hit with those who attended first session, like us, and those who planned to attend the second session. The lunch special is a really good deal. Three sushi rolls for $15.95 or two for $12.95. Many of the rolls are cooked, fusion rolls, but there are a few raw rolls too. Be aware that here, the spicy tuna roll is minced tuna and not pieces of tuna. I have always felt that the minced tuna with a hot sauce was likely older tuna and this was a method of salvaging it rather than tossing it out. We did eat a few pieces with no ill effect, but with the concern in mind, and the texture, I did t finish the spicy tuna roll. It was good flavor wise, but had I known ahead of time, another choice would have been made. (If only I had read my own Yelp review from 8 years ago!) Miso Soup or Ginger salad is included with the meal. I had the ginger salad. It had twice as much of the creamy Ginger dressing than any of our party of four wanted, but we all ate around it. (At least I'm consistent, this was also in my own review from 8 years ago. Should've read my own review!) The sushi is good, we ordered several nigiri options. It is a clean restaurant and pleasant. Who would have ever thought that here "in little old Clemson, SC" we would have a successful sushi restaurant that has now been here for several years?!!! read more

Tokyo is always a go to when I visit Clemson. I got the udon this time and it was great on a chilly night. There were various vegetables in my soup which caught me off guard, but it still hit the spot. Recommend getting there early to avoid a lengthy wait time. They have great selection of rolls too! read more

I've been eating here my whole life and always had a good experience until tonight. Ordered appetizers for the table and got our dinner first where do you go and get your dinner before appetizers? Service was awful coming from a server, she was very rude, threw the check on the table didn't ask if we needed boxes or anything at all. Maybe it's just better when Clemson students aren't in town serving because they do not care about your experience. read more

We took our son, his GF, and their friends to Tokyo for dinner last night for a birthday celebration. Both the food and service were very good! Our waiter, Gavin, was friendly and attentive, and our chef was funny, talented and very entertaining! And we had so much food! Everything was cooked to perfection. I actually ate too much bc I couldn't stop eating all the deliciousness! The only con: I heard from a few at the table that the restrooms were not clean Other than that, it would have been 5 stars! read more

It was a very chill environment. The food was amazing. I was greeted immediately which was great, however had to wait over 5 min before I was even brought a menu after being seated which was not fun. I ordered the muscles for an appetizer and the ginger salad, and the Clemson roll as an entree. I received my salad first, the ginger sauce was a creamy sauce which was really weird but it was still good. Then received my entree and was told my appetizer would take longer. Okay that was fine, however my app came well after I was done with my entree which was a little disappointing. My food overall was great, the service was just okay. read more

My family and I went to eat last night for my grandpas and late grandma's anniversary and the service was terrible, took 22 mins for a server to even come see us and when she did she immediately was dismissive and rude. It took another 30 mins to even get a soup and the food was not good the cheif was literally yelling for the server cause she didn't even bring out my parents rice. My parents and I are both sick today from the food. I have never written a bad review before especially being a server myself but I would be so ashamed if I ever gave someone that service or that bad of food. On top of all of this we were auto-grated and I get we had a 7 person party but in my opinion there was no need for a tip after the experience was that terrible. P.S CLEAN YOUR BATHROOMS THEY WERE DISGUSTING. read more

LOVE this place. It truly never fails regardless if I come here for lunch or dinner. Their hibachi chicken is to die for and the chicken is good, white meat. This is easily my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Clemson area. They have really good lunch specials for reasonable prices but dinner can be a little on the pricey side but definitely worth it in my opinion. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Ive never personally had sushi here but my dad and friends have said really good things about it as well- they have a huge variety of sushi options on their menu. There's truly something for everyone here. Y'all go try this place out!! read more

This restaurant is legit!!! Come hungry!!! You want sushi and/or hibachi food come here! Service is great too. Hibachi is cooked in the back so no "show" like your typical hibachi restaurants but it was still good. Sushi options are endless so be prepared to read the 3 pages of options lol. Someone next to us was celebrating a birthday. Staff comes out with the Japanese drum and sing the HBD song in Japanese. It was a great touch. Our new favorite restaurant in Clemson. read more

So if you're looking for authentic Chinese food, this isn't it. If you're walking in the door with realistic expectations, you may find what you're looking for. I had a ginger salad which they make their own from scratch. It wasn't really appealing and seemed to miss on the ginger. The scallops were the best part of my meal. For a quick fix, I would recommend. read more

Probably the best place in Clemson for sushi. The firecracker roll is my go-to and they have decent lunch sushi specials as well as specials for students. Haven't had a bad experience that I can remember. However, most of the time I get mine to go...so I can't speak much to the actual dine-in experience but never heard of anyone I know having a problem. read more

We love love Tokyo, but our past couple of trips have been less than stellar, especially with the Sushi orders. They are now accepting DoorDash and Uber Eats and tonight it took over 1 hour to get our sushi rolls. While I understand that the company needs to offer such services, maybe reserve the sushi for just in house guests. (On busy nights). It not only was a stress for us, it was also a stressor for our server because we had to wait so long on the Sushi. She also could not serve as many people therefore taking money from her pocket. Offering the service for Uber and DoorDash actually hurts the entire restaurant and the experience for everyone suffers. read more

The best sushi in town! The owners are so warm and kind and the servers are on point. The food is delicious and they always get us in and out quickly at lunch. They do an outstanding job. We love the decor and the tables and bar seating are cozy and always clean. Be sure to try the special sushi menu for dinner (but the lunch specials are such a great deal during the day!!) They seriously make the best in the upstate. read more

Lunch menu is the best. You can get 2 sushi rolls plus some tempura veggies comes on the side with eel sauce. The decor is different in there & could really use some cleaning. Just sucks they're always short staffed & closed so you never know if they will be open when you come. read more

I've been here before and it was previously a rather pleasant time. However, today I had a particularly poor experience that has changed my perception of this restaurant. I called around 6:00pm to place my to-go order and the staff informed that it would be approximately a ~20 minute wait. I arrived at the restaurant around 6:15 prepared to wait an additional 5-10 minutes. I walked inside, processed the payment with the hostess and she informed me the order "wasn't ready yet". I then waited an additional 25 minutes for my food to be prepared. Once ready to go, I asked for an additional shrimp sauce to which the owner responded "that will be $0.50". At this point it was 30 minutes after my original "20 minute wait" and I left without the sauce only to eat my COLD food. read more

We just ate here for a birthday dinner and Xander was our sever. He gave us the best service we've had in a long time! Extremely helpful, friendly, polite, quick, and great personality. We were visiting Clemson for the weekend with the family and came across this Japanese Steak House. We had the filet mignon, scallops and lobster hibachi and they were all great. Earlier tonight, I patronized a different local establishment (not Tokyo Japanese Stk House) in the Clemson area for sushi, and I was very disappointed. In fact, I was so unhappy that I threw out most of my purchase and decided to give Tokyo Japanese a try. I am GLAD I DID! Tokyo Japanese Stk House was a major improvement! From the minute I stepped in the door I could tell the difference. The staff was pleasant, the vibe was relaxed, and most of all, the sushi was much better. I can't say it's the best I have had, but I can definitely say it's the best I have had IN CLEMSON (out of three experiences thus far). I went light with the B52 roll and some unagi and ikura and ordered it for takeout. See photo for the presentation. I was happy, the price was OK (not great, just OK) and overall the experience was good. I'll be going back next time I am in town and getting a more extensive sampler. One negative - no hotate (raw) available. Only cooked. They said that 'no one around here asks for it'. I find that hard to believe in a college town, but who knows? Maybe they need to offer it marinated in beer! read more

I don't usually place bad reviews, but I came in and placed an order to go & then after waiting almost an hour, with no semi-specific updates after asking...Finally, I asked for a refund & they went into the kitchen and brought out some mysteriously cold wilted food that was supposed to be hot. It didn't look or smell safe to eat. read more

Excellent food and service! Hibachi steak was best I've had. Will definitely be going back.

I cannot put into words the experience of this restaurant -- for, none would surmount to the pure experience of enjoying a student special or spicy chicken hibachi on a thursday night. Tokyo is one-of-a-kind, a gem really. If you're looking for delicious cuisine and a fulfilling contemporary meal in the Clemson area, this should be top three options. read more

3.5 Stars Actually Been here about 3X times now, first 2 service was so-so, short handed on wait staff, only have one Chef that does Hibachi... Bust service does fluctuates with how busy and who is working. read more

So this was the most terrible restaurant experience I've ever had... We sat for one hour before getting our food, and when we did, the waiter sat down the plate of sushi in front of us and said "I don't know what the F*** this is." Our jaws dropped, and then it only got worse from there. He got fired mid shift, and then another girl stepped in to help us. One wrong sushi roll was plated and served to us, and we told her that this isn't what we got. She removed the plate, took the sushi off, and served it back with the roll removed.. .Which is weird, wouldn't you expect them to comp it or leave it on the table after served? There was also hair in the food. The checks took 45 minutes because they had a new system. And when service in total took over 2 hours and our waiter got FIRED, they did not comp a cent or apologize. I get having a bad night but this was just awful. read more
