Located in Tiger Plaza right off Tiger Blvd in Clemson, this is a great place if you want sushi or hibachi. The hubby and I had both and it was all yummy. Between us we had the avocado roll, the salmon crunch roll, the Philadelphia roll and the half cut firecracker roll. Both came with the house salad with ginger dressing and a side of fried vegetables (tempura sweet potatoes, onions, and zucchini ). In addition, the hubby had the teriyaki chicken and miso soup and I had the fried rice. Needless to say it was waaaaaay more food than we could eat. We had leftovers for dinner. Shakeyra was our server. She was very attentive. Her sweet, friendly demeanor was an added bonus to our visit. The sushi was extremely fresh tasting. (Evidently most ingredients arrive fresh daily.) The service was very good in spite of a busy lunchtime and a short wait staff. Our server, Jordan, was a pro and balanced the tables well. It was graduation day, so the restaurant was getting hit with those who attended first session, like us, and those who planned to attend the second session. The lunch special is a really good deal. Three sushi rolls for $15.95 or two for $12.95. Many of the rolls are cooked, fusion rolls, but there are a few raw rolls too. Be aware that here, the spicy tuna roll is minced tuna and not pieces of tuna. I have always felt that the minced tuna with a hot sauce was likely older tuna and this was a method of salvaging it rather than tossing it out. We did eat a few pieces with no ill effect, but with the concern in mind, and the texture, I did t finish the spicy tuna roll. It was good flavor wise, but had I known ahead of time, another choice would have been made. (If only I had read my own Yelp review from 8 years ago!) Miso Soup or Ginger salad is included with the meal. I had the ginger salad. It had twice as much of the creamy Ginger dressing than any of our party of four wanted, but we all ate around it. (At least I'm consistent, this was also in my own review from 8 years ago. Should've read my own review!) The sushi is good, we ordered several nigiri options. It is a clean restaurant and pleasant. We took our son, his GF, and their friends to Tokyo for dinner last night for a birthday celebration. Both the food and service were very good! Our waiter, Gavin, was friendly and attentive, and our chef was funny, talented and very entertaining! And we had so much food! Everything was cooked to perfection. It was a very chill environment. The food was amazing. I was greeted immediately which was great, however had to wait over 5 min before I was even brought a menu after being seated which was not fun. I ordered the muscles for an appetizer and the ginger salad, and the Clemson roll as an entree. I received my salad first, the ginger sauce was a creamy sauce which was really weird but it was still good. Then received my entree and was told my appetizer would take longer. My parents and I are both sick today from the food. LOVE this place. It truly never fails regardless if I come here for lunch or dinner. Their hibachi chicken is to die for and the chicken is good, white meat. This is easily my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Clemson area. They have really good lunch specials for reasonable prices but dinner can be a little on the pricey side but definitely worth it in my opinion. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Ive never personally had sushi here but my dad and friends have said really good things about it as well- they have a huge variety of sushi options on their menu. They are now accepting DoorDash and Uber Eats and tonight it took over 1 hour to get our sushi rolls. While I understand that the company needs to offer such services, maybe reserve the sushi for just in house guests. (On busy nights). It not only was a stress for us, it was also a stressor for our server because we had to wait so long on the Sushi. She also could not serve as many people therefore taking money from her pocket. Haven't had a bad experience that I can remember. I've been here before and it was previously a rather pleasant time. However, today I had a particularly poor experience that has changed my perception of this restaurant. I called around 6:00pm to place my to-go order and the staff informed that it would be approximately a ~20 minute wait. I arrived at the restaurant around 6:15 prepared to wait an additional 5-10 minutes. I walked inside, processed the payment with the hostess and she informed me the order "wasn't ready yet". I then waited an additional 25 minutes for my food to be prepared. Once ready to go, I asked for an additional shrimp sauce to which the owner responded "that will be $0.50". At this point it was 30 minutes after my original "20 minute wait" and I left without the sauce only to eat my COLD food. read more

Earlier tonight, I patronized a different local establishment (not Tokyo Japanese Stk House) in the Clemson area for sushi, and I was very disappointed. In fact, I was so unhappy that I threw out most of my purchase and decided to give Tokyo Japanese a try. I am GLAD I DID! Tokyo Japanese Stk House was a major improvement! From the minute I stepped in the door I could tell the difference. The staff was pleasant, the vibe was relaxed, and most of all, the sushi was much better. I can't say it's the best I have had, but I can definitely say it's the best I have had IN CLEMSON (out of three experiences thus far). I went light with the B52 roll and some unagi and ikura and ordered it for takeout. See photo for the presentation. I was happy, the price was OK (not great, just OK) and overall the experience was good. I'll be going back next time I am in town and getting a more extensive sampler. One negative - no hotate (raw) available. Only cooked. They said that 'no one around here asks for it'. I find that hard to believe in a college town, but who knows? So this was the most terrible restaurant experience I've ever had... We sat for one hour before getting our food, and when we did, the waiter sat down the plate of sushi in front of us and said "I don't know what the F*** this is." Our jaws dropped, and then it only got worse from there. He got fired mid shift, and then another girl stepped in to help us. One wrong sushi roll was plated and served to us, and we told her that this isn't what we got. She removed the plate, took the sushi off, and served it back with the roll removed.. .Which is weird, wouldn't you expect them to comp it or leave it on the table after served? There was also hair in the food. The checks took 45 minutes because they had a new system. And when service in total took over 2 hours and our waiter got FIRED, they did not comp a cent or apologize. I am so disappointed with the owner of the restaurant. I dine there all the time with my daughter at Clemson. Probably once or twice a month. We had to wait on the food longer than usual. My daughters food came out and then mine in about 10 minutes later. No complaints to anyone. We finished up and sat there for her to finish her drink. The waitress came over to the table and asked us to leave because the owner said they were busy. They had about 6 people waiting and the sushi bar was mostly open. I asked him about it and he just put on a silly grin and said yes he had asked her to request we leave. I've never been asked to leave a restaurant before.
