Raley's is my normal store of choice when I'm shopping for groceries in town. They have a super…read morenice meat counter display that I like to check out in case there's any good deals of good looking steaks. I was browsing by the other day and saw these were some nice marbled and thick cut NY steaks. I like a thick cut of meat on the grill. Good thing I have someone to do the grilling. These steaks looked so good I got 3 of them. They were choice grade, but looked almost prime grade to me. I cut one of the steaks in half to cook 2 halves. They cook easier that way when they're that thick. They cooked up super nice and I'm glad I got more then one. These were so big, I think about 1.4 lbs each, they feed two. It's always a good thing to check out the meat counter here at Raley's.

I brought them home and immediately put them in my freezer. Over the next couple of days, I noticed a strong odor every time I opened the freezer and eventually realized it was coming from the chicken. I called the store and spoke with the manager. She told me to bring the chicken back for a refund. I explained that I live out of town and it would be a couple of weeks before I would be back in Red Bluff. I also told her I no longer had the receipt. She specifically told me that was fine and that I could return the chicken when I came back. Today, I finally made it back to Red Bluff and brought the three packages with me. I was then told that I could not receive a refund and that I had to exchange them for the same brand. I explained that I had already spoken with the manager and had been told I would receive a refund. I also explained that the store no longer even carried the same brand. I was already planning to do my grocery shopping there and ended up spending approximately $370. I offered to simply have the amount for the chicken deducted from my total. Instead, I was made to wait for quite a while while the situation was handled. The part that really upset me was how I was treated by the employees. A male employee with dark hair and a short beard came over with the chicken and, when I tried to explain what had happened, completely ignored me and spoke only to the cashier, telling her the amounts to deduct. His behavior made me feel as though I was being treated like I was dishonest or trying to do something wrong. The cashier, an older woman with long hair, was also very rude and never acknowledged what I was saying. When she finally rang up the replacement chicken, she slammed the packages down on the counter hard enough that the packaging popped open. I had to rewrap the packages when I got home. I understand that mistakes happen, and I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply expected the store to honor what its own manager had told me and to treat me with basic courtesy. I spent approximately $370 in the store today despite how I was treated, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I have been shopping at FoodMaxx for years, but after today's experience, I will seriously reconsider where I spend my grocery money. The chicken was one problem. The way I was treated when I tried to resolve it was the much bigger problem.

So I walked through the parking lot I walked back inside, I told a cashier that I accidentally, bought the wrong size bottle, so the lady assisted me with locating the right size bottle, so she found the right size bottle of Vodka, I waited in line, it was finally my turn I was in the middle of returning the little bottle so I could purchase the right size Bottle of Vodka, The Supervisor approached, me and told me you drank that' entire bottle of Vodka, you can't purchase that bottle your drunk, I was as sober as a Southern Judge, I didn't drink a single drop of Alcohol that day. She threatened me and told me to leave or she will call the Police!!! so I left. Today 08/09/26 I walked through Food Maxx, I was trying to get out of the sun, it's 106 degrees Fahrenheit, it's as hot as the Mojave Desert, I saw the same Supervisor I waved at her and I walked outside, she hollers at me to get my attention, her what did you steal, me I didn't steal anything... her show me your left pocket, so I showed her what was in my left pocket, I have a pack of sour gummy worms I bought from Walmart here in town a few days ago, she pissed me off!!! She has accused me of stealing items at this store a handful of times, I'm not a thief, a hoodlum, a degenerate low life, I'm a Man of God I'm a Ordained Priest at my church. I let her have it, I'm not proud of losing my temper, I cussed at her and I told her your assuming I stole something, I didn't steal any F******* thing!!! ( I'm pretty sure this woman doesn't like me for some reason oh well I won't lose any sleep, I hope in the future we can get along.)

This used to be a Staples. Then it shut down, and Grocery Outlet, which was located somewhere else,…read moremoved over to occupy this building. The parking lot is a little messy for getting in and out of, but it is what it is. Store's interior is pretty large. There is plenty of space between aisles and they offer a wide range of items: food, drinks, candy, produce, hair care, oral care, etc. I find this one to be a little disorganized at times, but it does offer many items at unbelievably low prices. Hard to say "no" to that. Workers are reasonably helpful, making for a pleasant experience here.

There were a couple of people in line for two checkout stands. I asked one of them if they could open the liquor cabinet for my purchase. They said they would get a manager to assist me. 20 full minutes later, standing there like a bump on a log an employee walks past me (Slowly) to get a bag of chips and then back to the checkout line. THAT was the manager that blew a $100 sale on liquor for a $2 bag of chips. I couldn't believe it. Walked out. I'd rather spend more across the street than to sit there and watch how natural selection works with these yahoos.

They offer a wide variety of items, so this could practically be a one stop shop for most things. Most importantly, they have a huge selection of snacks for those late night munchies. The employees are quick and efficient, taking care of each customers needs. According to my friend, it's the only place in town to get an actual Vanilla Coke, but you'll have to find out for yourself!

The phone refilling system is better and they will text me when it's ready, sometimes just hours after I put it in. But what's nicer at Walmart, they test the drug and the price to me. This place is OK, they used to be better taking my rebate coupons for drugs, but now I don't need that, so Walmart just works better. I'll still shop for groceries here though.
