Back Again Board Game Cafe is an AMAZING board game cafe, and one of my favorite spots in…read moreMiddletown. I tend to swing by Thursday nights for trivia, but I've also been plenty of times during normal board game hours. This place offers plenty of fun events, in addition to a huge variety of board games. Not only that, but they offer a plentiful selection of coffees and teas, as well as frequently-changing specials that never disappoint! This recent visit, I attended trivia and I purchased a tea flight. 4 full cups of tea for a very reasonable price!! They can do any 4 flavors and ask about your preferences, so I told them I wanted to try unique/quirky teas. They did not disappoint!!! I was given 4 teas, 3 of which I purchased full supplies of immediately afterwards. Their lychee lime tea was one of my favorites--fruity with a strong and distinct lychee flavor, which was great. Chocolate chili tea was so unique, it reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate. Mountain Squall was a delicious chamomile with some minty refreshing notes, and finally, Volcanic Inferno was insanely unique and interesting! It's a strongly smoky, delicious tea that reminds me of a smoked whisky. These teas were not only delicious, but EXACTLY what I had in mind when I asked for unique teas! The cafe is so good that I'd come here for that alone--it's a bonus that there's also so many lovely games to play! There were plenty of bags of tea to purchase (I wound up snagging bags of Mountain Squall and Volcanic Inferno for home), as well as some other cute board game merchandise and snacks. The game variety is amazing. While I'm typically there for trivia, there's SO many fun game options. They also run activities pretty much every night--Thursday Trivia, Sunday Blood on the Clocktower, Sunday Dread, Friday Beginner DND, etc. There's always something to do! I love coming here and I am ecstatic to have a board game cafe so close to home for me. I certainly recommend that if you're considering coming by here, you should swing by and try it!

The price is unbeatable, $10 for entry to play over 1000 games, and the beverages are yummy! My favorite thing to order is one of their monthly flavored lattes and a cinnamon roll or piece of coffee cake. Plus, there are daily events/games, so there's always something new for me to try. Lastly, the service is unbeatable: everyone is kind, personable, and treats you like a valued guest. I 100% recommend trying out this very fun and unique cafe!

Plenty of parking as well. Environment was relatively quiet , not too crowded. All of our food came out with very good presentation and it all tasted great .

Inside, the tables are simply yet tastefully decorated with candles throughout, creating a cozy atmosphere. Even the bathrooms were thoughtfully decorated and adorable and no detail was overlooked. They offer a great variety of seating options, including bar seating, high top tables, standard height tables, and window seating, so you can really choose the vibe you are going for. During the winter, they even have lit igloos outside so you can stay warm while sitting by the river, which is such a unique touch. My waitress was also tending bar, yet she remained prompt and attentive the entire time. She gave me space to look over the menu without making me feel rushed, but never disappeared long enough for me to wonder where she was. Even as it got busy, she handled everything seamlessly. The service was excellent. However, I honestly wish I could say the food lived up to the atmosphere, because the ambiance definitely sets high expectations. I ordered the short rib risotto and would probably give it a 6 out of 10. The risotto itself was fine but could have used more flavor, maybe something earthy like mushrooms to bring it together. The short rib was cooked well, but it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall, the dish did not quite come together as a cohesive plate. It was not bad by any means, it just felt like it was missing something. I also ordered the Italian Gabagool Sub with salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. It had all the right components and sounded amazing on paper, but it ended up tasting fairly bland. Typically an Italian sub has bold dressings and seasoning that really make it pop, and this one just did not quite hit that mark. Honestly, the fries and pickle were probably the standout items food wise.

Decided to stop by after seeing a bunch of TikTok and Instagram videos on this new halal desert…read morespot in Middletown and let me tell you it was a hit. The pastries were super good very soft and moist. There were several options to choose from but I settled for a combo of fruity pebbles and cinnamon roll and it was a 10/10. The service was fairly quick considering there was only one person working at the time that we arrived and surprisingly even though it was a weekend there weren't many people around. The shop itself is extremely small and there are two entrances in order to get in however the second entrance to get into the shop is a bit smaller than the first it shouldn't be a problem for most but if you have a large mobility chair it may be difficult to get in. Overall it was an amazing desert bar and I will definitely be stopping by again when I am in town!
