Tried thisnplace again with my partner on a Thursday. They ordered the Frog legs, salad, fries and I ordered the 1 pound ribs, baked potato and salad. The frog legs were nicely battered fried, very tender, a huge hit. The ribs were plentiful and very meaty, but tough and chewy...definitely not fall off the bone. This is out 5 star restaurant in right here in croton Michigan ! Steaks and seafood cooked to perfection everytime . Great service with a smile . The owner is on the clock to be certain your dinning experience will be consistently perfect each and every time you go in there. Try the raspberry jumbo coconut shrimp. . My husband I & friend went to Red Anchor Inn for the first time this weekend. The hostess was very nice & the service was ok. The drinks (2 chardonnays & an old fashioned) were nice pours. The ambiance is typical, clean country restaurant facility vibes. Nothing memorable. HOWEVER, the food... My husband & I ordered the walleye dinner to split with a side salad & rice pilaf. Our friend ordered the prime rib with side salad & potato. First off, after the side salads, the prime rib came out a full eight minutes before any other food. (My dudes in the kitchen, you can not successfully drag that much food) Our walleye & sides did not come out, & our friends' sides did not come out. After a couple of minutes, it became awkward to sit at the table with a giant hunk of meat between us while our friend politely waited to start his dinner. So we began to time the situation. Finally, the rest of the food came out, except our friends potato, which we had to ask for. My hubby & I began to eat our fish. Walleye should be a sweet non-fishy white fish. This tasted like how a dirty fish tank smells. We each took a second bite & looked at each other & said "fishy!" I suggested we try a piece from the center where it's thicker and maybe it would be better. Nope! Also, the pilaf was stone cold. So, we alerted the server, who proceeded to tell us other people had complained about the same thing regarding the fishy tasting walleye & that she was sorry & would tell the kitchen. She also said they will likely be out to talk to us. Nope, again! They sent us out warmed up pilaf. When the bill came, the fish hadn't been taken off because "we had eaten over half of it." Which was completely not true, but also, they knew we were splitting it. Restaurant-ing shouldn't be a game of how many bites were taken before sending something back, especially in the case where someone is splitting a meal. Those policies are for freeloaders that come in, & a single person eats 3/4 of a meal, burps, & declares it was awful & wants a refund. Clearly, it's not what was going on in our case. This kitchen, kitchen staff, & managers are serving product that they admit they know is crap & getting away with it based on technicalities. I told the young apologetic server that the kitchen manager is a coward to send her out to deal with this. So we finished our rice pilaf dinner, tipped 20%, because it wasn't the servers fault. Couldn't wait to leave & spend money just down the street on bottle of wine & an appetizer. My husband & I spend A LOT of money eating out. Guess where we will not be spending that money. Avoid at all cost. Very low grade products. Advertising looking appealing but its smoke n mirrors. Service was terrible. Hospitality was zero. Its a bar with bar food. Capitalizing on tourism. This is by far the worst place in the area to eat. The gas station pizza is cheaper and probably go over better. I inquired about the low quality meat and the "chef" said he was aware and its the best they can do. Over priced. Admitted they knew it wasn't good quality and offered nothing for the repulsive me they served me. Burnt my toddler by putting my hot plate in front of a highchair. Just despicable. Owners have deleted all my posts on their Facebook and blocked me after complaining. Put this place out of business, and support any place else. read more

Staff was nice but unfamiliar with the menu and couldn't answer basic questions. The appetizers, mussels and escargot, were decent but several of the mussels weren't yet opened. I ordered the shrimp scampi dinner. The salad didn't look very appetizing, the shrimp was tasteless and rubbery, overcooked, while the baked potato was hard, undercooked. The main course consisted of 6 shrimp and was soaking in butter, no seasoning at all. I could not eat it and sent it back. I was charged full price but after an inquiry I received the response, "$10 off is the best I can do." The best one could do is not send out low quality, inedible food with the expectation of receiving payment for food poorly prepared. The interior was dark and not very inviting. Unfortunately this was my first and likely last visit. Lastly, the prices are high in comparison to some nice restaurants who use fresh ingredients and make their dishes from scratch. read more

This is an enjoyable local restaurant. Food is consistently good. Staff is friendly and service is courteous. The interior of the restaurant is very dated looking and is the reason I didn't feel they deserve more stars. To me dining is the overall experience not just the food. It's definitely a place would return to, just wish they would invest a little to improve the interior. We've had lunch and dinner there. If you like blt sandwiches give the blt wrap a try it's great. The fried fish dishes are all good and the fries (regular and sweet potato) are yummy. So happy to have found this place. Nice quiet outdoor patio. We both had the walleye which was so delicious. It was in a lemony butter sauce. $42 steak tastes like it was boiled in water (absolutely no seasoning) and then covered in sauce; that makes the steak taste like water, covered in sauce. The manger refused any credit but offered another side to make up for it, which really isn't acceptable. This is not our usual experience, but for around $100 for the two of us, we won't be returning. read more

I ended up here by accident with my friend and I am super glad I did! The food was decent priced and our server was great! They had some specials for the day and we both ended up choosing the fresh Alaskan Pollock. It came with a nice salad beforehand, then the main entree came- 6 pieces of fried fish and great pub fries! It was super cheap too, only $10! I will be back when I come to Newaygo again! I love the seasonal menu when they have it. Decent seared tuna, good deep-fried coconut shrimp, and a mussel appetizer, very impressive given the location. There are some low points, like the salad bar (always opt for soup). Decor is dark, service is homesy, the regular menu needs some work, but I'll give them a four because they (occasianally) give me a decent rare tuna in an area where it is verboten. read more

I was there on a Friday with my son the night before a fishing trip and the food was great. 2 beers, clam chowder, NY strip (fries were phenomenal) and ribs all for under $35. Only downside was they still allow smoking in restaurants in MI. read more

My husband and I had Sunday lunch at Red Anchor Inn. The waitress was attentive and we were served our food about 10 min. after we ordered. The cold slaw, Alaskan pollock and Half Nelson (fresh salad, 1/2 fries, 1/2 Rueben) were all good. Prices reasonable. We will come back for more delicious food, we hope! read more
