TOTAL SCAM -- AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!…read more If I could give Martines Recycling zero stars, I would. This guy is an absolute crook who is systematically shortchanging neighborhood customers on their weights and pocketing the difference. I brought in an exact count of 30 aluminum cans--including four 24oz ones. Anyone who knows anything about recycling knows that 30 cans is the golden benchmark for exactly one full pound. I watched my bins on the scale, and it clearly registered 2.5 lbs total with the container weight. Yet when it came time to pay out, this guy confidently looked me in the eye and claimed I only had a HALF POUND of cans. He didn't stop there. He blatantly rigged the numbers on my HDPE 1 and HDPE 2 plastics as well. All said and done, he skimmed a solid $2 to $3 off a tiny, single household load. If he does this to 50 or 60 customers a day, he is stealing over $100 daily from hard-working local residents. To top off his illegal behavior, he forces you to sign for your recyclables but flat-out refuses to give you a physical copy of your transaction receipt. He knows exactly what he's doing--hiding the evidence so you can't prove you've been robbed. I would rather throw my bottles and cans straight into the trash than get bent over and ripped off by a dishonest business like this. Do yourself a favor and drive right past this place. Take your hard-earned recyclables to an honest facility that actually uses automated, printable scales and hands you a real receipt. Martines Recycling on Canby Ave is a predatory scam operation. You have been warned!
