We think it's fun to check out all the different genres of music they have in stock. They carry real live physical music in a real live brick n mortar shop owned by real live small business owners. It's so worth dropping in if you are in the neighborhood, which is super close...minutes away...from the downtown casinos. They have diverse genres such as jazz, blues, rap, rock, country... blah blah. I had a great time perusing their vinyl, it brought back memories from my teenage angst filled years. I just love this store, I can be in there for hours... they have so much to choose from! You can go back in time and just be mesmerized by the selections! I try and go in and have an idea what I'm looking for, if you can't find just go to the counter and they are so helpful to show you or maybe they might have in the back as they get so much music daily! I usually go in and get 4-5 cds and yes folks they are about 6 bucks...I bought 5 for $30 this visit!! Check them out in midtown and they have 3 parking spots in front and I was happy to get one! We brought in a large vinyl record collection, many rock albums, and easy listening music, Andy Williams and such. They had no interest in the easy listening music, and offered $1.00 per album for the rock music without even looking at them. The long haired , long bearded dude didn't seem interested in helping us at all. So we took the easy listening to the Goodwill, and will sell the rock albums on line. This is a favorite place for my wife and I when visiting Reno. They moved to a new location and it seems to be working out. The store is brighter, wife and I still like the old store vibe, which is easier on the eyes when looking at records. The selection of albums, CDs, Cassette tapes, and other media is great! I believe this business is great for anyone interested to buy, completely disrespectful and cruel to anyone wishing to sell, and I am relieved (but also horrified) to see other reviewers report the same. I was made to wait a week to make an appointment to try and find my deceased grandparents' vinyl collection a good home, only for the appraiser to look over my items for approximately 90 seconds, declare them all "warped" and "mistreated" and told me they would be better off being dumped at Savers. To not even look at the items I brought in and then so callously imply that they are garbage and mistreated absolutely broke my heart and opened up fresh wounds of grief. They really need to take better tact and care with their customers, because I'm still very hurt and will never be going back. And by the way... maybe 4 out of the 60 vinyls I brought in were warped. If you aren't interested in buying, then maybe don't advertise that as a service. read more

My go to shop for any "old" records I want. Staff is incredibly kind and selection changes often enough for me. I've been on the hunt for classic rock albums from Steely Dan, Boston, etc. I was able to basically find every Steely Dan album during one of their record sale days. That was a good day. This will be quick and to the point. First, the selection is outstanding. Some of the sections could be marked better, but I was able to find what I was looking for. The guy working there was great. Second, the music being played was entirely too loud. SO loud I had to turn off my hearing aids and be deaf. Third, If you are going to look in the bargain bins, be advised that all the covers in that section have been defaced with a black "X" in laundry pen. They are ruined. So, if you collect vinyl for both the music and the album cover, the bargain bin here will disappoint. I saw a dozen records in there that I would have bought if not for the marking. read more

I hate to be so critical, but upon multiple visits, I've determined this store is underwhelming and not worth venturing into. Recycled Records is primarily a used shop, but their used inventory is really picked over. Basic staples of record collecting are missing, and what's available in their bins are junky quality of bands that have come and gone (especially bands from the 80s). The four or five times I've been inside this store I have left disappointed and empty handed nearly every time. I'm not looking for 8 different beat up copies of Grand Funk Railroad, or Go West, or Quarterflash. Where's the used (or new) Led Zeppelin? Where are the Beatles? Check all that apply: Fleetwood Mac Grateful Dead David Bowie Black Sabbath AC/DC Pink Floyd Rolling Stones Eagles Admittingly, some of the above titles are in their shop for Record Store Day, but unless you're in line early day of, they're all gone within an hour or two of opening. That's the case of any record store on Record Store Day, so even that's not saying much. It's unfortunate that a city as big as Reno doesn't have a quality record store. It really says something when Barnes and Nobel or Best Buy have better quality and selection of in demand titles. They also have a mountain of used DVDs and BluRays, but it's 2021 and those DVDs are starting to look like VHS tapes did in 2006. Everyone's streaming today. All criticism aside, the staff were friendly and offered to assist me, which I highly valued. They were drinking beer in the afternoon when I came in, and I thought that was amusing. Relaxed atmosphere in the store for sure. Just wish they had more to offer. read more

It's a cool place with a LOT of records. There's not a ton of variety and you're not likely to find any tough-to-find items here. My impression is by the time it hits the shelves, it's pretty picked over. However, if you're looking just to flesh out your collection with some tried and true staples, this is a good place to pick those up at a decent price. I don't really understand the organization of the place- it doesn't always make sense. For example, you'll have a section called "Rolling Stones and Associated Acts" but then you'll have Mick Jagger or Ron Wood solo albums in different sections. Why they aren't considered associated is beyond me. Long story short, come with some time to spare to dig through and look for what you want. I almost never spend less than 30 minutes there. Parking can be tricky with the construction in the area so drive slowly leading up to the place or you'll miss it. Also, and this goes for just about any record store, if you're bringing things in for store credit, don't bother if it's not something relatively in demand. All your grandma's Dean Martin or Mormon Tabernacle Choir albums aren't likely to get you even a dollar in trade-in. read more
