Today I brought some records in to be possibly sold. First impression opening the door, business smelled like your grandpa's 2 bedrooms no one has been in since 1947. They need some serious Lysol and Febreze spray. I brought in one record box, sat it in an out of the way place next to the counter to go get my second record box. I got the side eye stare from employee Mike. By the time I got back into the store, a whole minute later Mike has my box on the counter looking through it. No hi, how can I help you, what's your name, a smile or anything. Most people who work the public do not start rummaging through someone else's stuff without some sort of acknowledgment to have permission to inspect the items. In the minute I was outside getting my second box, he decided nothing in the box (50 records) was totally unplayable. It did not matter to me if they bought my records or not. It's the way it was done, disrespectful to someone his elder, you could tell being rude and angry was his work M.O. There is enough anger in the world, no need to spew your anger on people you have no idea who or what they are about. This business earned a -10 and I will tell everyone I know not to do business with this company. read more

Been going to Recycled Records since I was a wee lad. The old location was nostalgic but I really appreciate the natural lighting in the new location. DVD prices have not changed over the years and that business decision alone has kept me coming back. If you are a film buff you will find some great stuff. CDs and records are at market value. We think it's fun to check out all the different genres of music they have in stock. My son was in town over the holidays and was happy to find some old progressive rock records that had been on his radar to bring back to Scotland where he attends university. And several years ago my daughter bought the same "Recycled Records of Reno" t-shirt that seems to be a favorite of Chrissie Hynde - she has worn it in concert fairly frequently! I used to love this place. My spot to go to for Record Store Day, Chrissie Hynde wore their t-shirt, etc. Today I asked where they have their Lucinda Williams records. The answer was a stone-faced "never heard of her." I was stunned and said, "Uh, I guess I'll look around for them. Wait, are you saying that you're sure that you don't have any?" They carry real live physical music in a real live brick n mortar shop owned by real live small business owners. It's so worth dropping in if you are in the neighborhood, which is super close...minutes away...from the downtown casinos. They have diverse genres such as jazz, blues, rap, rock, country... blah blah. I had a great time perusing their vinyl, it brought back memories from my teenage angst filled years. I just love this store, I can be in there for hours... they have so much to choose from! You can go back in time and just be mesmerized by the selections! I try and go in and have an idea what I'm looking for, if you can't find just go to the counter and they are so helpful to show you or maybe they might have in the back as they get so much music daily! I usually go in and get 4-5 cds and yes folks they are about 6 bucks...I bought 5 for $30 this visit!! Check them out in midtown and they have 3 parking spots in front and I was happy to get one! Well, I almost do not want to review this place because it's a hidden gem! I just moved here a little less than a year ago and this reminds me of all things Austin (insert swoon). Have been warmly greeted by each person that works there. Never had a bad experience. Won't say much more on this place because it's a see it to believe it. I have so much fun at Recycled records I stopped seeing my psychiatrist. Great people and great fun. Not to mention all the great music.

We brought in a large vinyl record collection, many rock albums, and easy listening music, Andy Williams and such. They had no interest in the easy listening music, and offered $1.00 per album for the rock music without even looking at them. The long haired , long bearded dude didn't seem interested in helping us at all. So we took the easy listening to the Goodwill, and will sell the rock albums on line. At least we got $5.00 per album at our garage sale. This was the first time I had been in Recycles Records, and was not impressed with the personnel at all. read more

This is a favorite place for my wife and I when visiting Reno. They moved to a new location and it seems to be working out. The store is brighter, wife and I still like the old store vibe, which is easier on the eyes when looking at records. The selection of albums, CDs, Cassette tapes, and other media is great! We can spend hours looking and walking away with great finds! The staff is friendly, very informative, and give off "let's go to a concert" vibe. Went in the other day looking for the Birds of Prey soundtrack which they didnt have. But the sales associate helped me look. May have to shop for this online but It's so much more fun to shop in person. I believe this business is great for anyone interested to buy, completely disrespectful and cruel to anyone wishing to sell, and I am relieved (but also horrified) to see other reviewers report the same. I was made to wait a week to make an appointment to try and find my deceased grandparents' vinyl collection a good home, only for the appraiser to look over my items for approximately 90 seconds, declare them all "warped" and "mistreated" and told me they would be better off being dumped at Savers. To not even look at the items I brought in and then so callously imply that they are garbage and mistreated absolutely broke my heart and opened up fresh wounds of grief. They really need to take better tact and care with their customers, because I'm still very hurt and will never be going back. And by the way... maybe 4 out of the 60 vinyls I brought in were warped. If you aren't interested in buying, then maybe don't advertise that as a service. read more

Very good selection and in alphabetical order. You can spend hours here looking at the everything here.
