Such a GORGEOUS park in the middle of small town North Carolina just outside of Charlotte. Lake…read moresports, fishing, children's parks and events, the place is HUGE. Camping hours locks you in after closing with private access should you need to exit. Ranger is a friendly bloke that was so helpful. Peaceful, full hookups and onsite black tank disposal. Note, it's a public park - so you're not going to have control over whom your neighbours are, but we got lucky and the possible problem guests were leaving as we arrived (yay!).

Nice, spacious park!!! The playground areas, alone, is worth the drive, it's huge and great for all…read moreages!! There's also a carousel, a barnyard to pet farm animals, an aquarium/exhibit with live animals inside of it in the nature center, a splash pad, mini golf, trails for walking, and some wildlife habitats outside that have wild animals as well. We didn't get to do the train, as it was closed; but there was still so much to enjoy at the park. Me and my bestie brought our kids and they had a blast! We spent a solid 2-3 hrs there and had a great time. It's also very inexpensive!! Some things that I will say is that the bathrooms are not very clean and don't even work but it's an old place, so that's to be expected and we're not there to use the restroom, we're there to play! Bring cash for extra things, like carousel, barnyard, animal exhibits, etc...sometimes their card reader doesn't work and they can only accept cash. There's even a cute place to shop where you purchase tickets for everything with toys and snacks inside! All in all, we had a great time! Keep in mind this place is old, but it definitely still has charm, and stands out against the other parks around. The animal exhibits, including the barnyard petting activity is a hit or miss, because this place is not a zoo. The animals have plenty of room to hide and/or roam to get space, which is a great thing!!! But some people might be upset after paying and not really being able to see the animals. Highly recommend!!! Go if you haven't!!!!

(4.5 stars) How have I never reviewed this place? It's been…read moreone of my regular walking spots for years. Despite the name, High Point City Lake Park is located in Jamestown. It offers a ton of parking, a pool, gazebos and kayaks for rent, and activities for kids. City Lake hosts community events from time to time, and it can get quite crowded on those days, but go during an off-hour and its fairly serene. For walkers, there's a view of the lake and some interesting wildlife (Muscovy ducks, anyone?). The trails also connect to the Piedmont Environmental Center, which is worth remembering should PEC parking ever fill up. Whether you want to swim, fish, paddle, or stroll, City Lake Park has what you need to be able to enjoy the outdoors.

This park should have more reviews! It's has everything! Trains, carousel, putt putt, boat rides,…read morewater park and playground. All under $2. You can actually buy a pass for $5 and ride the train and carousel unlimited times all day! Now that's a deal! The particular day we went, they even had food trucks. The playground has been recently remodeled, all the equipment is very brand new. They have a section for the older kids and well as toddlers. Plenty of swings and lots of opportunities to climb and slide. Everything overlooks the lake and a portion of the train ride even goes alongside it. I enjoyed going through the tunnel the most. Though the carousel is a little dated, it's still fun and only $1. The boat ride was neat too. There's an ample amount of shelters available should you want to reserve one for a party and if you enjoy walking or riding your bike, there are plenty of trails that connect. If you want to find more information on hours and cost of the additional amenities I'd suggest looking at the website. The water park has its own pricing and hours. I'm sure the summer hours of operation of the park are different than the fall/winter. Overall this is a great place to have a day trip and it be fun for the whole family at an affordable rate!

They occasionally put on outdoor events, such as concerts and movie nights, which are always nice and often have food trucks. Really do miss the amazing 4th of July fireworks they use to put on. It's really sad they stop doing them. Would be a five star but unfortunately no pets allowed.

It is a well maintained resource for everyone to use, but that is not extended to pets where signage does note that no pets allowed. The Deets: I had a chance to walk around and enjoy the Shallowford Square park with my mother on Mother's Day. It's a good resource in the middle of Lewisville, across the street from Lewisville Town Hall on Shallowford Road. It is available for outdoor events and it looks well maintained, clean, and neat. The general layout looking like an amphitheater where people can bring their lawn furniture and/or blankets, etc. to see movies and performances shown outdoors, music/concerts and other outdoor entertainment. There is a pavilion in the park and looks like it can be rented through the Town of Lewisville. Alcohol is generally prohibited within the park ("only allowed at events being held with prior written approval by the Town of Lewisville" per the website at this time). The Lewisville Veterans Memorial is within Shallowford Square also. A nice playground is located in the back of this park for kids to use. There are also great celebrations/events held here as well such as the Street Party & Food Truck Festival and also the Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa for example. I do note many signs/painted instructions saying there are no pets allowed in Shallowford Square and it's a bit disappointing. I realize that there are a good number of people out and about that do not clean up after their pets but I remain disappointed that pets that do have responsible owners cannot enjoy this nice open space, so that is my only star off for here. Overall, I find Shallowford Square a nice place to visit in the Town of Lewisville.
