I wish the tennis courts allowed for pickleball, especially because they have lights and we don't really have any lighted options in Winston (except out in Old Town). They have several bridges you can use to cross back and forth. The trails do go under the Glade Street bridge on the south side (park boundary ends here). The bridge is a little sketchy with all the liter and graffiti. Never had any issues though. Overall, Hanes Park is a nice park to enjoy the day. Dog friendly too.

Coming here for a birthday party, we were pleased by this public area that offered a way to cool down for the summer, be outside, and socialize in an affordable way with other friends. My daughter enjoyed playing in the water, resting to eat treats, and running around the playground afterward when she could dry off and warm up a little. The playground has a spongy mat that I appreciated, considering a trip and fall would be especially devastating otherwise. I'm glad this was thought through!

It offers a ton of parking, a pool, gazebos and kayaks for rent, and activities for kids. City Lake hosts community events from time to time, and it can get quite crowded on those days, but go during an off-hour and its fairly serene. For walkers, there's a view of the lake and some interesting wildlife (Muscovy ducks, anyone?). The trails also connect to the Piedmont Environmental Center, which is worth remembering should PEC parking ever fill up. Whether you want to swim, fish, paddle, or stroll, City Lake Park has what you need to be able to enjoy the outdoors.

The playground has been recently remodeled, all the equipment is very brand new. They have a section for the older kids and well as toddlers. Plenty of swings and lots of opportunities to climb and slide. Everything overlooks the lake and a portion of the train ride even goes alongside it. I enjoyed going through the tunnel the most. Though the carousel is a little dated, it's still fun and only $1. The boat ride was neat too. There's an ample amount of shelters available should you want to reserve one for a party and if you enjoy walking or riding your bike, there are plenty of trails that connect. If you want to find more information on hours and cost of the additional amenities I'd suggest looking at the website. The water park has its own pricing and hours. I'm sure the summer hours of operation of the park are different than the fall/winter. Overall this is a great place to have a day trip and it be fun for the whole family at an affordable rate!

Amazing to think we've been here for almost 3 years now and still haven't been to all the parks even in the very near vicinity! This park is located about a quarter mile down and across the street from Joanie Moser, and it's got a rather large, clean playground area, paved walking path, and a steep slope perfect for sledding! There were kids sledding down even with no sign of snow to come! Impressive, and I can't wait for the next nice day to come back!

The Deets: I had a chance to walk around and enjoy the Shallowford Square park with my mother on Mother's Day. It's a good resource in the middle of Lewisville, across the street from Lewisville Town Hall on Shallowford Road. It is available for outdoor events and it looks well maintained, clean, and neat. The general layout looking like an amphitheater where people can bring their lawn furniture and/or blankets, etc. to see movies and performances shown outdoors, music/concerts and other outdoor entertainment. There is a pavilion in the park and looks like it can be rented through the Town of Lewisville. Alcohol is generally prohibited within the park ("only allowed at events being held with prior written approval by the Town of Lewisville" per the website at this time). The Lewisville Veterans Memorial is within Shallowford Square also. A nice playground is located in the back of this park for kids to use. There are also great celebrations/events held here as well such as the Street Party & Food Truck Festival and also the Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa for example. I do note many signs/painted instructions saying there are no pets allowed in Shallowford Square and it's a bit disappointing. I realize that there are a good number of people out and about that do not clean up after their pets but I remain disappointed that pets that do have responsible owners cannot enjoy this nice open space, so that is my only star off for here. Overall, I find Shallowford Square a nice place to visit in the Town of Lewisville.

I visited the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park last night and it was a sight to see! Beautiful…read morelights and displays. Some areas had holiday music playing. It was a drive thru experience but you were able to stop at the gift shop half way thru. They had various items from local businesses for sale. I would definitely visit again next year!

We *try* to visit Tanglewoof bark park every Sunday with our puppy and his sisters (adopted by…read moreother families). It's always a good crowd, weather permitting. It's fun seeing familiar faces - both human and pup. I like how it's separated into two spaces for both large and small dogs. We've only have wonderful experiences at this dog park :)
