Super rude staff don't waste your time and money here. Went against specific rules about a special limited quantity signed vinyl release and reserved them over phone the day before. Mind the rules stated they weren't even allowed to TALK about the vinyl until day of release. People including myself were camped out for hours just to be met with an incredibly rude staff member, Vic, who told us we were wasting our time and instead of taking accountability blamed it on the customers and artist. read more

I absolutely love this place! Been shopping here for YEARS. I consider myself fortunate to live so close to a record store, which is becoming a rare find these days. They have a HUGE selection of both old and new music. I could spend all day exploring their inventory and still not see everything. Being old school, I enjoy physically owning my favorite music, whether on CD or vinyl. Every time I stop in, I find something cool. Service is great, if they don't have a particular item, they will look it up and order it for you. I will always support them, and I hope they remain in business for years to come. read more

I went in here to see about selling some CDs the lady was not nice she was talking to me crazy asking me why was she waste her day and time and I just think her customer service and her behavior was very rude and I would not recommend anyone going into her store spending your money with someone that is rude. If you're in the Cleveland area, this record shop is worth stopping at. They've been around forever and offer a wide selection of cassettes, CD, vinyl and collectibles. They do not however carry any turntable accessories, which was surprising. Overall a pleasant shopping experience aside from the fact that the shop was super busy. read more

Just recently my nine-year-old told me he was really sick of listening to Hits 1 on x m. He said that I want to listen to the music you listen to Growing Up. So now I've got a kid who is infatuated with Aerosmith ACDC Led Zeppelin and Van Halen which is awesome. This led to a discussion about which music I downloaded as a kid and I had to explain to him that I did not download music as a kid we went to a record store and flip to the records and bought albums. Sometimes you about 45 since sometimes you bought 33 Lp records. I've always given past Record Den but I never made a conscious effort to stop in because I didn't have a record player. Like most people my age most of my albums are long gone thanks to a mother who likes to throw stuff away. So we ended up going to this particular record in and flipping through the album's where we found an Aerosmith album which appeared to be a repressing of the original album which actually I'm okay with and I really wanted it but it was 28 freaking dollars. Well I can appreciate the Resurgence of vinyl $28 was a tad Hefty. my boy however was able to pick up the soundtrack two Guardians of the Galaxy which has some of his favorite songs on there like Redbone. If you are in the mood for deep(er) digging, you should give the Record Den a spin (check out that vinyl tie-in line!). They are a touch removed from the metro Cleveland area we stayed in, but not too far as to prohibit a drop-by to their venerable location. Tons and tons of new stock. Borderline metric tonnage. So if that is your thing, this is probably the most well-stocked store of brand new and recently released/re-issues around. At the time of our visit they still were in possession of very healthy stock of RSD 2018 titles - like almost hard to believe levels of stock. So if you are looking for those and are reading this review in a relatively timely fashion, rip it! I found the used selections average, with nothing particularly standing out to me. There is a lot of layering so digging requires some nimble moves and dedication. If I were guessing I'd say they focus more on new buys and releases that used inventory. There was a cheap bin at the front of the store to dig, but not a traditional dollar bin. I think maybe $3-5 per title there. Pricing was about market average on most things. Nothing super noteworthy (high or low) that gave me the feels. I only got one small item while here. I will say this was the first store I've ever been to that charged me (99 cents) for a store sticker. That was a first. (Meh plus, dudes). All in all, a decent shop. Not sure I'd go back if passing through town though. read more

They have all kinds of formats (vinyl, tapes, CDs, DVDs) and accessories (shirts, incense, record slip or dust covers, CD cases, etc.) and at all price levels--from the cheapest bargains to luxurious wallet-emptying box sets. I don't want to call it a "record store", because it sells so much more. But that is what I knew it as. I have patronized this store since it hid out in Newberry's department store over in the mall, back in the 70's. The owner, a huge Paul McCartney fan like myself, always had the most incredible selection. Whatever you wanted, he would get it. Back before the internet, that was something in itself. Of course, like all good 1970s era record shops, Record Den sold all the stuff you had to have to properly listen to the music of the time: black light posters, incense, and t-shirts. They probably sold roach clips and water pipes at one time, most of these places did. But the best thing about this store is the large selection of "imports". This store still sells vinyl, which as any music lover knows, is superior to the throwaway cd in its flimsy case. The incense, t-shirts and posters are still for sale, along with bins and bins of cds and even cassette tapes. I still visit Record Den when I go home, just to pick up an "import" for old-times sake, even though I can easily find them on the internet. The internet doesn't have the owner, his love for music or an old Abbey Road poster on the wall. read more

I'm a native lake-countyite, so i spent most of my twenties digging thru heaps of vinyl and quality used cd's in this DEN of iniquity(sorry). I live on the west side now, but whenever i visit my east side hillfolk family, i stop in to buy vinyl on the cheap. Ten bucks will get you a handful of decent tunes. i have also found some rare psychedelic gems buried in there. The staff is a delight (same guys for the last 15 odd years). New cd"s are a tad pricy. That's my only complaint. But they do also have deep discount sale items to make up for it. Close to long john silvers for all you rocknroll sea captains. read more

They sure got the selection of metal and prog. And it's the metalheads and progheads that give them their business. It would be nice if they showed us a little respect, maybe play some of that music in the store, recommend some stuff that's up our alley. I listen in the store on yt through headphones before I buy a record or CD. I can't do that if Record Den is blasting gangster music degrading to women and I can't even hear the likes of Jon Anderson's beautiful voice in my headphones. Difficult to move around or easily search through the vinyl section. Not for anyone with dust allergies or physical disabilities. Once I finally found an item, they told me that they don't accept any debit card purchases under $5, which the Visa Merchant page explicitly states is a violation of their rules, as debit cards are not covered under the law allowing minimum credit card purchases. Best record store still standing in Northeast Ohio! Good selection of imports, lots of bargain/cut-out CD's, good selection of vinyl (new and used) and lots of boxed sets and special editions. Friendly and knowledgeable staff makes it worth the trip even if live a ways away. read more

The stock is massive. It's obvious they got huge excess record store stock in past past when you see 30 or the same 45's. It's got movies, cd's, 45's, cleaning stuff. It sells a lot of new vinyl. The problem was quality older vinyl there just wasn't much of it. read more
