Anyone familiar with the Akita breed knows they can be strong-willed and have very distinct personalities. Our boy definitely lets you know when he's unhappy about something. While he has never bitten anyone, he is very vocal and communicative when he doesn't like being handled. Despite his temperament, the team at Lucky Paws has always treated him with patience, professionalism, and care. They understand his personality, work with him calmly, and consistently do a great job grooming him. It's not easy finding people you trust with a large breed dog, especially one with a mind of his own, but we've never had concerns leaving him in their care. After nearly 7 years, we're grateful for the kindness and dedication they've shown our dog. We highly recommend Lucky Paws to anyone looking for experienced groomers who truly care about the animals they work with.

We have found it difficult to find a knowledgeable groomer for our year old Pomeranian, Bandit…read more He's our first Pomeranian and his adult hair is coming in, taking over the fluffy puppy fur. It has been difficult figuring out how to explain to groomers what we want. Pomeranians require special care as damaging their undercoat can cause serious skin issues. Wylie, the owner, greeted us and spent time explaining options that demonstrated her knowledge of Pomeranian grooming. While I was a bit conservative on Bandit's first visit, he came out gorgeous and I understand better now how he should be cut. Pomeranian owners, run from any groomer that greets you asking if you want to shave your baby to make him look like a stuffed animal. Not saying a teddy bear or lion cut is bad if that's your thing, but beware of extreme styling that damages the undercoat.

The woman who owns and runs the place (it's just her and sometimes a helper on the weekend) was very nice, and sweet with my dog when I brought her in. This is the only reason she gets any stars. She asked me if my dog would need a haircut at all, besides a sanitary, and I said no. She has short hair and we don't ever cut it. However, when I got her back, I noticed at home that her hair on her belly and part of her back leg had been shaved, and not well. See the picture I've included. It looks like she realized halfway through shaving my dogs belly that she wasn't supposed to, and there's a strip on her belly that's shaved, with the other half of the belly not shaved. She also shaved all around her nipples and part of her back left leg. If this was a mistake, I wish she'd just owned up to it when I picked her up. Instead, she kept quiet and left me to discover this on my own. I won't be bringing my dog back here.
