Negligent medical intervention 2/4/2026, in the emergency room. Arrived with two support persons,…read moremy patient's voice and concern for complications related to previous surgical interventions were completely ignored. It seems as though Peace Health has many staff members who are not qualified or experienced in emergent trauma-informed patient interventions, nor are they experienced with HIPPA and Privacy Rights, let alone persons seeking care related to pregnancy or pregnancy loss concerns. (I do fall into this category of pregnancy loss-based concerns within a year of surgical intervention. I had emergency surgery 4/27/25 due to an ectopic pregnancy burst.) Multiple staff refused to document my complex medical conditions or consider utilizing appropriate medical rule-outs, which led to an inappropriate referral to the most restrictive mental health inpatient stay. The hospital also failed to verify my insurance carrier and has since charged me in full, creating more financial and psychological stress. It was a common experience for the hospital staff NOT to verify my personal identity before interacting with me or administering harmful medications, and even referring and coordinating transportation to another building. This later resulted in reactive and poorly skilled staff, clearly not trained in non-verbal de-escalation skills, nor were they trained in trauma-informed interventions or how to appropriately assess risk scores from an emotional health perspective. More concerns while staying at the behavioral unit were the exposure to fecal matter, a poorly sanitized milieu, and sleeping conditions that were not suitable for sanitary living. The Behavioral Unit is also not HIPPA compliant. I could view all staff screens and security cameras through the staff office window. Staff are unwilling to engage with patients and treat them like insects. Peace Health's Behavioral Unit policies limit patient requests for basic needs like water, food, and RNs to hourly requests and are subject to dismissal based on the staff member's mood. More so, because the staff was unwilling to engage with the deemed mentally ill, I learned a lot about my fellow inpatients. It would disturb the public to know that the majority of persons in the facility were female, single mothers, and or experiencing post-partum symptoms, and or at risk for human trafficking, or presently being sex-trafficked. There were a few male patients, and they either had military affiliation (PTSD) or were bilingual/disabled. The staff clearly has no appropriate training from the organization; there would have been some sort of standard of care provided. I left Peace Health Behavioral Unit 2/11/2026 deeply traumatized psychologically and physically. I requested to file a grievance on 2/4/26 after being physically restrained with no physical aggression risk or suicidal risk, and was injected with inappropriate medication. I was not allowed a pen, so I requested to write this form grievance with a blue or black marker. Still, to this day, I am calling Peace Health and filling out surveys regarding my horrific experience without any accountability or response to my grievance. I find this to be an unacceptable way to conduct human services. Let alone treat what is considered to be the most vulnerable of us as humans, inpatient care/the most restrictive inpatient unit. I personally left the facility with a raw mouth, patches of dry and flaky skin, and increased physical pain after being physically restrained. I was coughing up green bacteria for a week afterwards, and pus started coming out of my nail beds. I was extremely constipated, I felt malnourished, and dehydrated. The hospital staff and behavioral staff were extremely unhelpful and confusing for my family members, who were supporting as well. Address of Behavioral Unit #1: 770 E 11th Ave Eugene, OR 97401 Suggestion: Immediate Halt to services provided due to HIPPA non-compliance, Unsanitary environment for humans to stay overnight, Physically aggressive staff quick to physically restrain humans, Egocentric medical practitioners of nursing and psychiatry unwilling to consolidate and conduct true diagnostic evaluations and assessments before prescribing old-school psychotropic medication with serious side-effects to pre-existing heart conditions (such as I have). No physical or visual accommodations provided, no alternatives to toothpaste options despite allergens to ingredients. THIS IS AN UNSAFE FACILITY. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF OR LOVED ONES TO BE TREATED HERE UNTIL THERE IS A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACCOUNTABILITY.

The staff are caring, competent, and provide strength-oriented patient empowerment. They have helped me through good times and challenging times and put up with me when I was not at my best. AND THE WORST 'HEALTHCARE' AS WELL-though I'm hesitant to even call it that. I did not at all feel like Jan cared about my *personal* needs. She was warm and friendly enough until I asked her to order some tests that I wanted, or to think outside of her narrow thoughts. I was only asking for a comprehensive thyroid panel-we aren't talking expensive hypochondriac things. When I told her that a topical medication she prescribed was causing dryness and irritation, she dismissed my concerns and told me to keep using it. I took my son to see Dr. Copperman for a specific concern and he told my son that his issues were his own fault. His blaming alienated me, shamed my son and did NOTHING to address the concern we came in for. I have NEVER been treated this way before by anyone. His care was so terrible that I sat in the car crying from anger. I asked for a referral for my son, and was handed a list of providers and told they would send over a referral. When I called to follow-up, the referral told me they weren't accepting new patients. I called the clinic back but no one was available to help me. 3 days later they returned my multiples calls and said they'd send it through to another. That one ALSO was not accepting new patients. And then it happened a third time. Finally, I started calling around and then asked the new clinic to call for a referral and it took a week to receive it! As if that wasn't enough, the front office told me that I did not need to make a co-pay for a visit. I told them, are you sure? I usually do. They told me no, and refused to take any payment. When I was then billed for it, I called to find out why and was placed on hold, or hung up on, and never got an answer. When I went in for the next appointment, they told me at the appointment that I had to pay a $100 deposit to be seen since I was delinquent on my bills. DELINQUENT. It was a $20 co-pay. I was there for an appointment and had no other choice if I wanted my son to be seen.

I would give ZERO stars, if possible. Dr. Jane Neary was my doctor at McKenzie Family Practice for…read morea couple of years, and she is the absolute WORST! I've seen some bad doctors throughout my life, but I have yet to meet anyone who has the level of disrespect, apathy, incompetence, and laziness as Neary does. She should not be allowed to even "practice" medicine. She misdiagnosed me at least twice (can't even properly identify rosacea). If she couldn't find what was causing a health issue, she wouldn't look into it any further. She would just shrug her shoulders. She clearly does no research, doesn't keep up on current medicine, and doesn't ask her colleagues for their professional medical opinion. Basically, she wants you out of her office as soon as possible. The last straw for me was when I made an appointment with her, asking for help because I had lost a lot of weight due to a very stressful, traumatic life experience. I basically wanted to get some labs done to ensure that my health was still in relatively good condition, find a healthy way to gain the weight back, and I also explained to her what I had been going through. She immediately tried pushing anti-depressants on me... Just a band-aid to the issue (for which I was seeing a psychologist to work through). I have tried 4 different anti-depressants in the past, only to find that they made everything worse, including my health. I respectfully relayed this information to Neary, and she was instantly angry that I didn't want to take the anti-depressants. I told her how sick they made me, and she said in a very cold, unprofessional, and disrespectful manner, "Well you look sick already!". After that appointment, I was rightfully upset by what had happened. My doctor was supposed to be my advocate, not a mean jerk. I am better at writing what's on my mind than speaking it, so I wanted to calmly collect my thoughts and politely relay them to her. I let her know that I felt disrespected during the appointment and that I need to be able to openly communicate with my physician in a respectful, safe, and compassionate environment. After that, she immediately dismissed me from her practice without any advance notice. She knew I was in the middle of seeking treatment, but rather than apologize for her incredibly unprofessional behavior or make the situation right, she left me out on my own with no primary care physician. She also made a point to accuse me of having an eating disorder when she knew damn well that I do not and never have had one... Especially since part of the reason I made the appointment in the first place was to ask about a going to nutritionist so that I could put weight back on in a healthy way. I've never been so insulted by a so-called "medical professional". Stay far, far away from Neary. She is an absolutely awful person and negligent "doctor".

Beyond being very knowledgeable, easy to talk with and amazingly kind, Dr. Gilchrist also provides a level of care that is incredible. He has dropped off prescriptions for me, been proactive with insurance issues and worked diligently to find me other providers, such as physical therapy, who are equally good. Concierge care may require new thinking at first. Paying a subscription rate on top of insurance can seem prohibitive, but when given the level of care and contact, it's actually quite a bargain. Dr. Gilchrist has seen me several times a month, as well as offered referrals, text consults and encouragement, all within my monthly cost. No copay, no additional fees, and of course all services that he refers too work with insurance as usual. It's an easy win- and genuinely adds to my health and well being to be part of his concierge practice. I would encourage anyone to get in and see Dr. Gilchrist! He's the absolute best!
