Similar to other reviews on here, we really struggled with Rebecca's services. We hired Rebecca in August 2022 for four rooms, we received the last product today (January 2024) and have an outstanding quality item that she has not committed to fixing.
We chose her primarily because she was a full service firm with project management services. She committed to subcontracting (and project managing) all aspects of the project to complete a cohesive vision, including but not limited to built-ins, a walk-in closet, paint, wallpaper, and stair runners.
Our initial interactions with Rebecca were positive, however, as soon as we paid Rebecca for the services and products her behavior changed significantly. Our contract states she will respond to questions/comments within 3 business days, however we would receive answers only after several attempts of emails over 4-6 weeks. Rebecca frequently canceled appointments and on more than one occasion skipped meetings entirely without notification. She ignored our request for a schedule multiple times. For example, after paying for the walk-in closet shelving, we were left in the dark for months on end as far as whether it had even been ordered, let alone when it would be delivered and installed. Eventually we sought legal counsel due to the high dollar value of the contract, the lack of a schedule, and the lack of communication. Ultimately, we chose to limit her scope to delivering on the materials and design aspects of the project, which was already paid for. We took ownership of all the subcontracted construction and installation portions of the project - a substantial part of the planned scope.
Only after we had our lawyer write a letter to RRI did Rebecca begin to have the remaining products delivered, piecemeal, over the course of nearly six months. While we are relieved to at least have the products we paid for delivered, we had not hired a designer just to order products - we were very disappointed with the lack of project management and 'styling' we expected to receive.
Unfortunately, many of the products received had also quality issues including miscuts, damage, missing parts, and components that were not possible to assemble. The quality of the received items has been poor. For example, we had issues on every room's curtains (some were miscut and she replaced, some I personally re-hemmed). Rebecca has placed little urgency on resolving these issues - for example we still have a table that is unable to be assembled and no clear path to addressing the issue other than fixing it ourselves.
Looking beyond those problems, we've been unhappy with the design selection itself. Our top design parameter was durability, as we have two small children and a dog. Very few of the products appear to be durable or kid-friendly - for example tippy lamps and end tables and expensive wool rugs. Generally the products have not tied together into a cohesive vision - we've removed about 30% of the items from each of the rooms (from curtains that clashed with the room's coloring to wrong colored curtain rods to armoires that are too large for the space). The entry light selected hung so it would cause a 5'6'' person to "duck" - while Rebecca did replace this light eventually, she initially took the stance it was our fault because she put the dimensions in the product selection.
Overall, Rebecca did not meet our expectations and we would not recommend her services. read more
