I've had some mental health issues for as long as I can remember, and during my last pregnancy I struggled with it a lot. Working with Dr. Thompson was completely different. She took my mental health into serious consideration and made sure I knew how important it was for me to take care of that as well as my physical health. She is also the reason why I started seeing a therapist; as she heavily recommended it at the beginning of the pregnancy and that on top of my medicine management made the whole experience so much healthier mentally than my first pregnancy. I absolutely love Dr. Thompson and I'm excited to have her as my OB/GYN for years to come! Also, her nurse was incredible as well! Deliana (not sure how to spell her name, hopefully I got that right! Haha) also got back to me quickly about any questions (even stupid pregnant ones) I had.

The appointment felt very rushed, and I was diagnosed with PCOS almost immediately, before I felt a thorough evaluation had been completed. An abdominal ultrasound was not offered, and there was very little discussion about the diagnosis, potential symptoms, or other treatment options available. The only treatment presented was oral contraceptives, which were provided as office samples. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the samples were expired on the day I was supposed to begin taking them. That was very concerning and reflected a lack of attention to patient care and professionalism. Throughout the visit, I felt that many of the symptoms and concerns I mentioned were dismissed rather than fully addressed. I understand that medical professionals rely on their expertise, but I would have appreciated a more thorough evaluation, better communication, and a discussion of alternative options. Based on my experience, I would not return to this office.

I really wanted to like Dr. Carmichael. She's probably fine for routine gynecological care, but her…read moresupport for menopausal women is very limited. She'll confirm menopause with a blood test and may prescribe estrogen patches or creams, but going to the root of an issue is a step too far. Menopause isn't just one organ system, it can affect mood, joints, sleep, brain fog, bones, vaginal health. Dr Carmichael only focuses on hot flashes/night sweats, which means other symptoms get overlooked. I requested specific labwork for joint pain, fatigue, and brain fog, but her assistant called to say I should ask my PCP instead. When I tried to ask more questions, I was told that was all she had to say. Funny my PCP asked with to get with my OBGYN to run the labwork. Is the problem running it or a limitation interrupting it, because she was completely dismissive of comprehensive or progressive menopausal care. I've since read other reviews from women who've had similar experiences and were very frustrated, which makes me feel even more confident that this wasn't just me. A recent poll found: 32% of women ages 45-54 are worried their provider is not knowledgeable about menopause and 36% of women in that same group are concerned about being dismissed or misled by their healthcare provider. This is the experience I had with Dr Carmichael.

My friend sees another Dr, so I know that if my Dr isn't available to deliver my baby, I'm still confident in the other Drs in the practice. My doctor is Dr. Michelle Heintges and I can't say enough great things about her! She takes the time to get to know you and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and understood. I prepare my questions in advance of each appointment we've discussed my birth preferences throughout the entire pregnancy. Parking for each appointment has been easy & although my husband cannot go to each full appointment (due to COVID regulations), he has been welcome (after temp checks and waiting in a separate area) at each ultrasound.

It all started on a hot night in July, I home alone and I thought I peed on the floor, then I thought of some Hollywood movies where there woman's water breaks and said to myself "that's me!" I was early. At 32 weeks I called my hubby and away to Las Calinas Medical Center. They said it may not of been my water. I also was on antibiotics for an infection. A nurse checked and realized my water had really broken. The Dr. met us and was kind, but concerned. She let me try to have a natural birth for the first 24 hours. I was on Pitocen and it wasn't happening fast enough. Luckily, the Dr. at 24 hours said I would need a C-section. She assured me it was going to be okay. And while operating on me made a comment to welcome my baby girl into the world which was very sweet. I can't recommend this OBGYN enough. Also, through out my pregnancy I had kidney stones, and an infection. I was well taken care of with this Dr. and her team!
