Some of her best-known works have made it on the cover of Nirvana's concert DVD's and the CD cover art from tons of other bands. She is gifted, creative, and has a natural eye for catching "the moment." As a communications professional, I've worked with a number of photographers through the years. My biggest concern about my wedding was the pictures. I interviewed a photographer, and met briefly with others at the wedding show in Seattle. The moment I met Karen, I KNEW I had to have her at my wedding. Her energy is incredible, and I'm not a "touchy-feely" person (I'm an auditor). She was so much fun, and always had a smile on her face. Karen met my husband and I before the wedding to discuss what we wanted. She was thorough in her questions, and took the time to get to know us. She let us know what she needed from us (i.e. which pictures we thought were important, if it came down to a time crunch, what could we give up, etc.). The day of our wedding, my family wasn't helpful at all. People were complaining, and no one helped me. Karen jumped right in and helped coordinate things so I, as the bride, wasn't doing it all. She always had a smile on her face, but was able to get everyone moving (which is impressive because getting everyone together in my family can be like nailing jello to a tree). Ann was so nice, and having two photographers (FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!) was incredible because we had pictures of both my husband and I getting ready, and shots from the front and back of most parts of the wedding. While Karen was out shooting photos of us after the ceremony, Ann was getting shots of cocktail hour. When we were going through the photos, I was surprised to see so much had happened while we were gone - and we weren't away that long! Karen had the best price, the best package, and the best personality. If you need a photographer, she and Ann are the way to go. To say you won't be disappointed is an understatement. I would have done a lot of things differently with my wedding (photo booth vendor, for one!) but if I could go back and do it again, I would hire Karen and Ann in a heartbeat. Tash is really intuitive, kind, and attentive and always quick to help. When I came across John's portfolio I was really struck not only by his photography style, attention to lighting, and interest in scouting for visually interesting areas to shoot at but also by his talent to capture such great moments, how everyone he photographed seemed so natural and comfortable. I really recommend doing an engagement session with John before your wedding. It really does help make your wedding day go all the more smoothly, since John's already had a day to gain rapport with you (we did a hike together at his suggestion and loved it). We just got our wedding pictures back (the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness of the box they prepared for us is just incredible) and I am so happy and thankful that John has been our photographer. We are so happy with our engagement and wedding pictures and I am so excited about how many beautiful moments he caught, like the look on the groom's father's face when he saw his son and silly things like how the dog and I looked at each other at first sight (with the groom). Of course, we wanted perfect pictures...but we also wanted to feel comfortable with our photographer on our big day. After viewing many websites and contacting many photographers, we chose Siang and Lightphoria because of Siang's personality and his love for photography. Siang is easy to work with and listens to all your concerns and needs. We started off with a couple's session (aka engagement session) where we went around Seattle, taking pictures and breaking the ice. We turned these pictures into a guestbook, which ALL our guests adored and could not stop talking about!! Siang not only made sure he had good shots, but he took the time to develop a photographer/client connection (being socially awkward and all, boy did we take up a lot of his time). Seriously though, many photographers can take perfect pictures by working with lighting and the basic rules of photography 101. But only great photographers can capture those indescribable moments where one glance from the bride or that look in the groom's eyes captures feelings from that day. Siang has captured some of these "moments." When I look at my photos, I don't see just family and friends - instead, I see love, happiness, nervousness and joy. It is these intangible moments that Siang captures so beautifully. You won't be disappointed with Lightphoria or Siang if you ask him to freeze frame important moments in your life. We love him so much that we plan to have him at other special occasions in our life such as anniversaries, the start of our family and our children's birthday. Both the bride and groom love photographs, but were apprehensive of double chins, awkward faces and poses, as well as their first glance being captured on film. Siang knew just what to say, when to say it, and how to make everyone involved feel special and at ease. Siang was probably the only one who knew how to handle the devious flower girls and apprehensive ring bearers in the hot August sun. No double chins any where either! I've also had the pleasure of attending another wedding that Siang photographed. In both weddings the bride and groom felt like the photographs made their weddings seem that much more beautiful and fun! Nothing but rave reviews on his genuine, comfortable approach to wedding photography, not to mention the gorgeous shots. He also put together (possibly as part of the package, I'm not sure), slideshows and picked music for each one. This was truly a blessing as the wedding that I was in, the pictures came after the new groom was already deployed in Afghanistan.
