My new favourite!
I went to Reaper's Realm last night and was it ever fun! I go to as many Halloween events as I can during the October weekends. I had never heard of this one, but luckily, a family I went through Haunt Manor with told me about it. I'm so happy they did. I will definitely be visiting every year from now one.
There are 3 haunted houses and a bus ride. The bus ride is toted as being the highlight of the event, but the houses were amazing too. There was also a live band.
Some things to note:
*Bring cash before you go. I got there early and was able to top up but the on-site ATM is slow. I wanted a t-shirt before leaving but the line-up to the ATM was so long it would have been at least an hour and I had a 2-hour drive home. Bring plenty of cash. The event is 100% cash
*The actors are the best. This haunt had the most actors of any I've seen...anywhere. And they are dedicated. They are in your face and know how to scare you. There are guys walking around with chainsaws and they put it on my back when I was standing on stairs for the coffin ride. I love to be scared so that surprised and delighted me. The chainsaw of course doesn't hurt you but it rumbles and scared me! They also have a knack for making pale faces appear out of the dark. Very creepy. They try hard to get the scares!
*Do the extra coffin ride. It is so cool and cute. The vampire lady working there had an amazing costume. She was so nice. I have RA and she totally helped me in and out of the coffin. So nice and understanding. Also, to note I am very claustrophobic and this is totally doable if you are. It's cute and creepy.
*Come early like the website says. I got there at 5:45 and people were already there. The lineups get VERY long very fast. I was first in line for tickets and the bus. I did have a VIP pass and was done by 9PM. The lineups are long because this event is awesome. The bus ride through the woods is creepy with a couple of surprises that terrified me...and I don't scare easy. The houses are detailed and filled with ghouls and great deco. There is a candy shop, retail shop and other tents. You will also find food for sale.
*Also to note is the cell service is not great out here. But when coming to an event that's probably a plus...live in the moment! But it is remote and spooky. Wouldn't want to be caught out there alone with my map not loading lol. (Service is just slow but I could text my hubby. Sending pix too four tries, just an FYI)
*I thought the price was right. $55 for all the houses, bus ride and VIP. The live band is cool too. And so many monsters running around that genuinely get a scare out of patrons. I love this place and will definitely return again and again. They got a scare out of me and that's not easy! They were also doing a canned food drive for Christmas with a chance to win a prize pack for donating. Super nice! read more
