Our daughter has been attending weekly 30-minute lessons at Atlanta Swim Academy for nearly six…read moremonths, and the progress has been remarkable. She started at the Trigger Fish level, advanced to Sea Lions, and just recently graduated to Manta Rays. The academy's structured approach--requiring specific skills to be mastered at each stage--has clearly paid off. She's athletic and attentive, and the instructors have done a fantastic job channeling those strengths into steady improvement. Each level seems to take her about 5-6 weeks to complete, which speaks volumes about both her effort and the academy's teaching methods. With only two levels left after Manta Rays, she's well on her way to being ready for our HOA's competitive summer swim team, which runs six intense weeks with six tournaments. The difference in her confidence and ability in the water is easy to see. Honestly, I may not be able to swim away from her when she chases me in the pool next summer! Watching her master the different strokes has been exciting, and I'm grateful for the academy's clear progression system and supportive environment. Atlanta Swim Academy has been a wonderful investment in her growth, and I highly recommend it to any family looking to build strong swimming skills in a fun, structured way.

We had our kids' birthday party at the indoor pool at Rountree Recreation, and unfortunately, I…read morewould not recommend having a party here after the experience we had. The woman overseeing the party area was incredibly rude and confrontational with us throughout the party. Our guests obviously didn't all arrive at the exact same time, so some kids were swimming while others were getting food. We made sure the kids dried off before coming into the eating area, but she repeatedly became upset with us and insisted that the children needed to either ALL be swimming or ALL be eating and could not go back and forth between the pool and party area. It made what should have been a fun, relaxed birthday party feel stressful from the beginning. The most upsetting part involved one of our 11-year-old guests, who wears pants while swimming for religious reasons. She made him get out of the pool because his pants had pockets and told us they were a safety concern because they could "weigh his legs down." We explained that this is how he regularly swims, that he was comfortable and capable in the water, and that this attire was important to him. Instead of handling the situation discreetly and respectfully, it turned into roughly 15 minutes of back and forth while this poor child stood there embarrassed and uncomfortable. My daughter became so upset seeing her friend excluded from her birthday party that she started crying because she felt terrible that he couldn't participate. We eventually got the situation resolved and he was allowed back in, but by then the damage was done. A child should never be made to feel singled out or embarrassed like that, especially over something connected to his religious practices. The entire experience was so uncomfortable that we actually chose to leave before our reserved party time was even over because we were simply done dealing with the hostility. I completely understand that a public pool needs rules, especially when it comes to safety. What I do not understand is why those rules couldn't have been communicated to us respectfully, reasonably, and with some compassion, especially when dealing with children. We came here to celebrate our kids' birthdays and make happy memories with their friends. Instead, we spent a large portion of the party feeling like we were being scolded and monitored, and one of our young guests was made to feel embarrassed and singled out. We will not be returning, and I would strongly encourage other parents considering a birthday party here to ask very specific questions about their party and swim policies before booking.

If you are looking for a facility that will nurture and uplift your budding young gymnasts, I would…read morestay from away from this establishment. Their instructor (Cassie) doesn't have the basic common knowledge on how to communicate with toddlers/young kids. The owner (Jason) has made it crystal clear that issues within his gym are not high on his priority list. He will soon find that customer relations are what keep a business afloat. On Wednesday October 11th, my 3 (almost 4) year old had her first class, she was beyond excited. The week prior was a trial class to see if this sport would be something she was interested in. Once the class let out, she came out to get her shoes and her instructor came out to give her some feedback. This instructor stooped down to my daughter's level and mimicked/mocked her stutter when she gets nervous or overly excited. A slight hiccup that has presented itself about 2 months ago. The look on my daughter's face was a that of shame and embarrassment. I immediately turned my back on the instructor and left. My daughter now feels like her instructor made fun of her. Tried calling the facility three times that night, no answer. Called the next day and finally got through. Laura, who works in the administrative office, was the only person i had the chance to speak to. I'm sure meant well and unfortunately my wrath was unleashed on her but with that being said, nothing has been done to rectify this. Laura even mentioned "maybe Cassie (the instructor) was having a bad day." Excuse me, but that should have no bearing on how well she performs her job. She also mentioned that these instructors don't have children and don't have experience like parents. I was floored by this statement. Why on earth has this gym hired inept instructors. I have been far more gracious than I needed to be. Jason has had two days to reach out about this incident and there has been zero contact. No offer of the $100 fee being refunded, no mention of any disciplinary actions or apologies. Though I have no desire to return to this gym, I hope Jason can learn from this experience so this doesn't happen to another little girl.

There's no email communication whether what kids need to bring or plans for the day prior of the camp week. It's ok I'll figure out. Get there on our first day , first time ever. No hi , no smile, no instructions, no telling of where to go. It's ok- I'll figure it out again. Drop them off inside the gym area. It was free for all. No one give any instructions to those kids nothing. I hang around for a while and gave up to go back to work. I did notice no sight of a grown adult. That's ok - I should see some when I came back . Got a phone call ...my kids doesn't have lunch (for half day Camp) I said there no telling whether I need to bring lunch. I only got them snack and water assuming it's half a day. Again no further instructions, no apologies for poor communication. Second day still see no soul of a true adult supervise this place. Zero. It's like this place run by a mad mad angry high school girls who's doesn't want to be there to work. Still no hi , no bye , no smile, no how are you, hi kids , nothing. Got a phone call- my 5y/o son fall in to ball pit and hurt his ankle. Again no sign of an adult supervisor as any other gymnastics place should have the person who can determine the seriousness of injury. No the girl who gave me a call no nothing , except he hurts and crying. I can't tell whether he need an immediate emergency care or just ice , nothing. I came to get him as soon as I can just to be told by my 10y/o daughter who Also at the same camp that one of the young staff was being mean to my 5y/o son who his ankle obviously in pain. She force him to get up without helping him and rush him to get out of the pit so other kids can jump in. Again no sign of a full grown adults. No sorry he hurts himself and hope he feel better. Nothing. Base from my only two days experience and traumatized they gave my kids. I won't be back and won't recommend this pace to anyone. Oh and this place is filthy dirty. I walked in just to be freed by a wet little shorts sitting in the middle of the hall way by the front door. The chairs and the computer area, cubby areas were filthy.

The environment is welcoming for a little one who is easily stressed. We have Coach John, who I can't say enough positive things about, his patience soars to the sky. My son has had many whining episodes with tears and purely wanting to quit but Coach John never gives up. He has a way with children to make them excited about learning. He has gained my son's trust and always finds a way to make him successful. There is nothing more rewarding as a parent watching my son get out of the water beaming with pride because he accomplished a skill that he thought was unobtainable. I was surprised to read the post on here describing a terrible trip to Crystal River, Florida. We were on the same trip and had a completely opposite experience. We had a memorable and fantastic time. I appreciated the time that Coach John and the owners of Sharkie's prepared us with a well thought out itinerary and for insuring that we had all the equipment necessary. On the day of each activity, I knew exactly where to go and never had to run out to get something we forgot to bring. The particular weekend we visited was the annual Manatee festival so the area was quite busy. I appreciated the block of rooms set aside for us so I didn't have to worry about hotels being full. Coach John was thorough to explain everything to be expected that our son didn't shed a single tear out of fear. His expertise and passion for scuba has made my husband and son excited to participate in the sport. I always say, we are grooming the next Jacques Cousteau. Sharkie's has taught my son valuable life lessons to enjoy and respect the water safely. I can't say enough about this facility, the staff, and the owners. They are such a great part of our community.
