David is amazing. He is so passionate about what he does. CPR can feel silly and scary, but David is really informative and totally takes off the stress of it, where you can naturally engage and learn. read more

I took my Wilderness First Aid recertification through ReadySF and NOLS Wilderness Medicine this past weekend, and it was thorough, active, engaging and well organized. The schedule, coursework, training interactions and live scenarios with thoughtful students were incredibly valuable. And the location in the Marin Headlands on such a beautiful spring weekend was a bonus! read more

Today's training is wonderful! The instructor is very calm and patient. It is easy to understand. Thank you!

Had a fun time while earning my CPR and First Aid certification. I would recommend to others.

Knowledgeable and great at explaining why we do things. So much knowledge. So grateful to have taken this.

Very informative! Love the demonstrations, I'm geared up to save lives! Thanks again!

Ready SF was the provider for our organization's day-long CPR/AED, First Aid, and EpiPen training in October 2025, led by the excellent trainer Daniel DeKay, and it was fantastic! Would highly recommend. read more

I did my NOLS WFR recert with Ready SF. In my 15-odd years of maintaining a WFR, it was one of the least tedious recerts I've taken. The instructors, Megan and Jennifer, were working from a solid knowledge base and brought great energy to the course. The class location on the Marin Headlands was exceptional! read more

I took a Wilderness First Responder course with Ready SF and it exceeded my expectations in every way, in fact it kind of blew my mind. Instructors Dave and Brandon taught a huge volume of information in a fun and engaging way, and trained us in many critical skills over the course of five days. They are both really great teachers with deep knowledge of wilderness medicine. But what really stood out was the lessons they demonstrated in leadership, teamwork, improvisation, and self-efficacy, and about the positive effect a responder can have by being a calm and hopeful voice amid chaos and fear. I went in thinking I'd learn some useful medical skills, and finished the week with a huge confidence boost and a renewed sense of resilience that I can apply to my everyday life, on and off the trails. I highly recommend any class they teach! read more

I've been taking first aid classes since 1980 capping out at the EMT level. I recently took a WFA call offered by my employer and taught by David. David goes a great job presenting pertinent information in a very assessable way. It's easy to sit through his class and he keeps the discussion focused and fun. Highly recommended. read more

Ready SF was the NOLS provider for my Wilderness First Responder in Feb, '23. A really fun and dynamic course, although short, since it was a hybrid WFR, I learned a ton of valuable skills essential for medical decision making in the back country. CPR/AED and EpiPen training included. We did real field simulations from a host of topics from the classroom and applied scenarios in all sorts of weather, at all times of day and night. These are the sorts of preparedness skills more folks in the outdoors should carry on their expeditions. read more

Ready SF does a wonderful job of combining education, adventure, and fun. They are dedicated to the success of their students to prepare them for the real world and create a safe learning environment. Highly recommend after doing my Wilderness First Responder course with them. Dave and Jess are incredibly knowledgeable and fantastic teachers. read more

I've taken first aid in some fashion every few years since the 80s -in the military, sponsored by various organizations, Red Cross, and even the NOLS Wilderness First Aid through a different provider. I recently took the Wilderness First Responder taught by Ready SF and it was great. This was my favorite and most complete. The time investment is high, but so is the reward. I know more than I ever did about first aid and feel the most capable of applying it in a practical situation. I highly recommend Ready SF for the great job. read more

I organized an office CPR/ AED and First Aid training for group of us. David was very responsive from the very first inquiry till we completed our training. He has a ton of experience working with individuals, small to big teams, and schools. He is a great trainer and makes a long training to be actually fun! We will also be getting Emergency Preparedness training from him. I strongly recommend David to everyone! Ozge. read more

I had the pleasure of attending the NOLS / Ready SF Wilderness First Responder training led by Dave in March '22, and it was literally one of the most impactful learning experiences of my life. Dave has so much experience and tribal knowledge that compliments the core curriculum, and the hands-on scenarios designed by Dave were extremely effective in learning how to apply the analytical and practical skills learned in the classroom. I cannot recommend Dave and Ready SF strongly enough - if you have the opportunity to learn from Dave, don't miss it! read more

I took the WFR (Wilderness First Responder) course with ReadySF. They use the NOLS - WMI curriculum and I was absolutely impressed with how the course was designed and executed by ReadySF. Dave (the owner of ReadySF) and Nissa (a NOLS instructor) were articulate, positive and extremely helpful. Their knowledge of medicine in the wilderness is detailed and brought to life with relevant real-world experiences. The course is set-up so that about half the time is in the classroom - learning the fundamentals of the patient assessment system and the various types of injuries you can be exposed to outdoors. The other half is outdoors in mock scenarios and practice. These mock sessions were invaluable -- and so well executed. In addition to amazing course instruction, the people who take a WFR class are pretty awesome and add to the experience in many useful and fun ways. Overall, this was one of my best learning experiences. My one recommendation for those considering this course: take the time off of work to fully dedicate to the class, and if possible, stay close by so you don't have to deal with traffic and other mundane logistics. It is *intense* and you learn a whole new set of terminology and wilderness practices. It is also fun :) read more

I participated in a first aid weekend! It was awesome! I really appreciate how the instructors made a lot of information totally accessible and memorable. I did this course after a backpack trip I took with a couple people who were having asthmatic issues with smoke from a fire from Tahoe. I also appreciate the role play examples where we got to practice what were learning! I'm stoked to learn more and anticipate doing future courses. Thanks ReadySF for the awesome service to the community! read more

Fantastic training and trainer. Practical, informative and supportive approach to CPR training. Highest recommendation!

My company has worked with ReadySF for First Aid & CPR Training for several years. The instructors and course are always outstanding! Much better, hands-on and practical training compared to others courses we've tried. This is important information that you hope to retain after the training. Going through the drills and practice helps you remember the information better than watching PowerPoint presentations like some other companies use. I was appreciative and impressed how the instructors made the information the most relevant to situations that may arise in our workplace. The course is conversational and they made a comfortable space to be able to ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Several of our employees thanked me for planning the training and mentioned how much they appreciated and enjoyed the class. I also must mention how responsive and helpful David and Holly were in planning the class and following up afterwards. A HUGE thank you to everyone at ReadySF! read more

I just completed a 10-day Wilderness First Responder course with Ready SF, which was sponsored by NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute. Our instructors Dave and Shaun were fantastic! I can't believe how much I learned in this class from them. They've inspired me to learn more about wilderness medicine and risk management. The WFR material was engaging, essential information and the instructors from Ready SF made it fun, too. Our class started out as complete strangers and we enjoyed the course so much we're keeping in touch and planning future hiking trips. You get to meet the most interesting people taking these classes. Students came to the San Francisco class from all over California, including some folks from Utah, Washington and even Australia - so don't let distance be a factor! If you're thinking of doing a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFA) course with Ready SF, I highly recommend them. The classes are definitely worth the cost, and the course I took was held at the Presidio, Crissy Field and the Marin Headlands with gorgeous views of the Golden Gate and downtown SF. You couldn't ask for a better urban location to take a class. If you check out their website - http://www.readysf.com - they also puts on disaster and earthquake preparedness training, and basic CPR classes. And they have scheduled classes, but it looks like you can also work with them to create specialized classes for larger groups and for organizations. Very cool! read more

This is extremely high quality education. I just finished a Wilderness First Responder certification course with Dave and Thea, and I cannot imagine having taken the course with anyone else. They make the material fun to learn, and they teach it in such a way that you learn not only WHAT to do, but WHY you do it that way. By understanding how the human body works, you learn how to see the impact of injury and sickness, and how to intervene when things get serious. By practicing in "real" situations over and over again, you learn by doing, and gain a complete applicable system for dealing with emergency and first aid situations. You will not be bored. You will be engaged and present, soak up the material like a sponge, and be a better person for it. They don't just teach first aid, they teach high quality patient care, serious improvisational skills, and how to be focused and caring in crazy intense situations. We even practiced thrilling and serious "night scenarios" in beautiful bay area settings. This is like ninja training for first aid badasses. I used to be a ninja. Now I am a prepared ninja. I feel 100% prepared to deal with anything I might come across in an urban or wilderness setting. I am very happy with my investment. I am still going over the material daily, just to make sure my learning sticks. I'm hooked like a geek. When I re-certify, I will definitely be doing so via Ready SF. I highly recommend just bypassing the other options and make a B-line straight for these guys. You won't regret it. read more

I just graduated from one of Ready SF's Wilderness First Responder programs, and thanks to the OUTSTANDING teaching and wealth of expertise brought to the table by Dave and his teaching partner, Thea, I feel 100% ready to competently deal with any wilderness medicine situations that crop up on my next trip into the great outdoors. (A lot of the time, that means making smart decisions about when a person needs to be evacuated.) Getting a WFR certification is no easy feat: 80 hours of class time and scenarios are packed into nine days. There isn't a moment where your brain isn't being stretched by new information and skills. It's something of a marathon, but Dave is exactly the person you want putting you through your paces. He's knowledgeable, funny, and makes the entire process thoroughly enjoyable. If you're looking into getting a WFR certification, re-cert, or any sort of disaster management, look no further than Ready SF. You be glad you did. read more

Just finished a Wilderness First Responder class in Marin and Dave Y from Ready SF (in tandem with Liz S from NOLS/WMI) made it a fantastic learning experience. They are good listeners and teachers.
