My preference is to usually let the artist do whatever they feel will look best once shown my outfit, and she made me feel so put-together without making me look overdone for the cocktail-attire fundraiser I was attending. She uses airbrush foundation, which I love because it's lightweight and could last for two days if I needed it to. She provided me with a sample lip color to last me through the remainder of the night, and was a pleasure to work with. I'm not really a hair and makeup girl and…read moreI knew I would feel really uncomfortable having lots of people comment on my outfit, which is to be expected if you're the bride. I knew I would be super stressed trying to do it myself, even though I had a small and fairly casual wedding, therefore, it was the one thing I was willing to splurge on. So I chose Hanna based on 1) the pictures of women here and on her site looked like actual, lovely women and not weird dolls and 2) 5-star reviews. My experience: My wedding was plagued with rather insensitive visiting in laws (example, showed up two hour late for our wedding breakfast, and then "joking" that I was rude for running out the door to get my nails done. Also texted us at 8:00 am the day AFTER our wedding - ummm, honeymoon anyone? to find out where we were going to meet them for breakfast...anyway). So unexpectedly, I was a bit stressed and a few minutes late coming back for my make up appointment by the time Hanna arrived (SHE was exactly on time). I had e-mailed some ideas to her previously and all of our communications were pleasant and prompt. But in person was even nicer. Instantly in her presence on that stupid stressful day I started to relax, she was calm, smiling and ready to work. Even though I made us start late (so sorry!!) she didn't give me any grief for it and got it all done on time. I needed that so much. And she's just a nice person. She kept chatting in a soft voice to my curls while she was pinning them up..."Okay curl, you tell me how you would like to sit, okay, like that? Oh you look nice now"...it was crazy soothing. In the end, I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup that I really should have taken some cards for her to hand out to the crowd. But most importantly, my groom, who always sees me sans makeup, really loved it. The look stayed put all night and the best part was that when I finally unpinned my hair, she had done something that made it look cute down too - so bonus, two more days of wedding hair awesomeness before I washed it out! The only thing I would have done differently would be to spring for the trial run, so that the day of my wedding I would have been excitedly anticipating the look, instead of being kind of worried it would be weird (it was so not weird!).

I was looking for a natural glam for my engagement shoot and that is exactly what Shyn delivered. Scrolling through the instagram photos you can see how diverse their clients are and how the makeup looks on each variety of skin tones. Being Asian, it was important to me to find someone who knew how to work with Asian hair and specifically do makeup on Asian eyes. If you are Asian, you know what I am talking about. Our natural hair sometimes struggles with curls and our eye lids and shape can be a struggle for a non experienced MUA. Being new to this process and having never gotten my makeup done before by someone other than a sales person at Sephora and this was a real treat. When you arrive, Shyn takes the time to make sure she has prepped your skin thoroughly before starting with the makeup. She even takes the time to create your own foundation concoction which will match your skin color perfectly. To me, flawless skin is a must for every bride and bride-to-be. As a surprise for her 13th birthday, we hired Ryann to come to the house for a 2 hour "new teen makeup tutorial" for our daughter and her best friend, it was a HUGE hit! Ryann was funny and fun, and did two great looks on each of them, a casual, age appropriate look, and then went big glam for a fancy look. When life returns to normal, we will definitely be having her back to do something for dances and proms, or other big nights. Then Denise claimed it's because the shampoo I use "stripped" my hair despite using professional quality products I told her I have been blonde many times before never had a issue like this ever and I don't believe this was the cause. Then she ghosted me too! Take your business elsewhere! I am out 433$ looking like a yellow egg head with mess ups! All I wanted was a refund to use towards having it get fixed by a well rounded salon!

I am glad she gave me my money back as I paid almost $300 for my color to fade within a few days. It was clear she just wanted me in and out of her chair and didn't explain to me that I'd need to come back for many touch ups. I even asked her when I should schedule my next appointment and she said 8 weeks. I also asked her if the shampoo and conditioner I have would be good for my hair and she said yes. I'm thankful I got in with another hairstylist who knows what she's doing and talked me through the process to fix this nasty mess.
