I dislike writing negative reviews and rarely do so. However, I had a hard time finding reviews for MUAs and hope this can help a future bride. I booked Arianna after weeks of research. Her initial rate was $3000, nearly twice the other quotes I received. However, I loved Arianna's work and felt that the steep price point was worth it to ensure high-quality service far in advance. Two months after I signed the contract and paid the deposit, Arianna's assistant Annu emailed me that "Arianna is unfortunately unavailable for your date as she will be traveling that week for another engagement that was confirmed before your booking." I was frustrated and very disappointed. They said that as a substitute, I could work with a team member (Himani) for a nominal 10% discount. This felt completely inadequate given the inconvenience and late notice, and above all, the fact that I was stressed and wasting time dealing with something I thought I'd finished. Keep in mind that Arianna is the owner. Her business is not branded as an agency with multiple stylists. You're booking with Arianna, and I specifically booked based on her portfolio. Even if it was an agency, her rates (as the owner) would be higher than her team members'. When I asked for Himani's rates, they reiterated the total discount provided and said "the rates for our team artists have already been provided to you." I find this hard to believe, but their lack of transparent pricing online makes it hard to know. After weeks of back and forth to get even a slight additional discount, I asked them to just refund my deposit. Ultimately, price was not the deciding factor. I just did not comfortable working with them anymore, especially if something else went wrong in the future. I felt like I was asking for concessions despite the fact that the error was on their end. I understand that honest mistakes happen, but our exchanges made me start to doubt they had double-booked me by accident. It seemed more and more likely that a more lucrative client with a multiple-day wedding had come up. Arianna seems very skilled with hair and makeup. However, I'd caution that if something goes wrong with your booking, her team may not handle it professionally. That's just not something you want to risk with a bridal vendor. Re: owner's response: Arianna, I appreciate the response, but there were many chances to make it better. You did not communicate directly with me at any point, despite responding to my review within an hour of posting. I had to negotiate for additional discounts, they were not openly offered. And while I received my deposit back, I did not get a single response to my email to confirm this or close things out. I made the decision to post this review after a lot of thought. Lucky for me, Arianna was available on my initial wedding date and later on my final wedding date after a postponement (thanks, pandemic). I had many emails with Arianna's team when booking, and coordinating the trial hair + makeup (for me), and day-of hair + makeup for myself and my bridal party. Arianna's admin team was always responsive within a reasonable timeline, and took extra efforts to reach me (text, calls, follow up emails) for anything time sensitive. The most important part of my experience - how absolutely talented Arianna is! Arianna did my trial makeup ~1 month before my wedding and I was so glad I booked that service. It allowed her to run with my initial vision, then allowed me to see what changes I wanted for day-of. Arianna remembered and flawlessly executed my requested changes from the trial look (more of a cat-eye, standard vs subtle lashes, tighter styled updo) on my wedding day. Speaking of my wedding, it was a 95-100 degrees and sunny for my mostly-outdoor wedding! I was worried I'd sweat off some of my makeup, and my hair wouldn't hold the styles nor curls after pictures, none the less making it through the ceremony and reception. I don't know how Arianna did it but my hair and makeup stayed THE ENTIRE DAY. My photographer was also impressed with the long lasting details. My only touch ups were reapplying lipstick, and lightly re-circling the hair framing my face. All this is more than enough reason to trust Ariana to help you feel your best for a special event, but on top of being an incredibly talented MUA - she's also a great person and a joy to get to know. I absolutely LOVED Arianna. I'm not kidding when I say she kept me sane my wedding morning. It started off rough as things went wrong as they do in all weddings but Arianna arrived exactly on time and was super patient with me as I wasn't ready to go. I'm standing on top of a hill shouting about how all brides should get Arianna for their wedding day! Due to some last min changes, my planner recommended I go with Arianna because she would be able to the dramatic South Asian bridal looks I would need. She was prompt in her communication and flexible to meet with even though we couldn't do a trial since it was so close to do the date! First, she understands brown skin. This can't be taken lightly because there is a way to work brown skin that allows you to achieve full coverage without looking orange or ashy or whatever other color that isn't your real skin color. Anyways, she can also take your reference photos and *translate* the look to you. Let's be real, I gave her a photo of a model with much lighter complexion and different eye color yet she achieved that look on me! Second, she's incredibly crafty and creative. When I was debating what type of bindi to use and commented her collection didn't have the pink I liked, she was like 'umm that's not a problem and whipped out her liquid lipstick collection to blend me a perfect color'. Arianna Scott was hired by my sister to travel to her home and do her hair and makeup for her wedding, as well as all of us bridesmaids makeup. She messaged my sister at 11pm the night BEFORE HER WEDDING DAY, telling her she needs to change the scheduled time in the morning because she had another client to get to. She wanted an hour and a half earlier, to come at 7am, and leave earlier. Mind you, a few days before this one bridesmaid decided she no longer wanted her makeup done and asked if that was possible and Arianna told her no, and that she was "bound to the contract". Yet she can change the time the night before? So she comes in the morning and we're all expecting airbrush makeup as we had agreed upon, but instead she does normal makeup and completely rushed thru everyone. She had originally said it would take her 30 mins per bridesmaid, and she spent 15 minutes tops on each of us. And then ran out of time so 2 bridesmaids weren't able to get their makeup done and had to do their own. She then insisted whoever got their makeup done by her still owed her $85 for makeup, even tho she not only rushed but also didn't do the agreed upon airbrush makeup. If I were to review Arianna solely on my trial experience with her, I would give her 5 stars. I loved my look at the trial - skin, hair, eyes, lips, everything! It was exactly how I imagined myself as a bride! Arianna took the time to listen and she was flexible when I had to slightly change our appointment start times for both of my events - I had booked Arianna for both my sangeet night and wedding day. Fast forward to a week later to my actual events -- Arianna brought airbrush foundation for my sangeet night look because I had asked for a lighter hand with the foundation. This is not what we had tried on my skin during the trial, but I trusted Arianna because I was impressed by her work at the trial. Unfortunately, my skin ended up looking too orange and too shiny that night. The next day, my wedding day, Arianna had trouble recreating the trial look. I was not happy with the lip color at all, and despite multiple attempts, Arianna just could not get the color right. (I wish she had wrote down the mixed colors and ratios at the trial!) It wasn't until Arianna had already left that I realized my eyeliner wasn't winged as it had been during the trial. This was a huge bummer. Had I pointed out these details while Arianna was still in the room, I'm sure she would have made an effort to correct, but I honestly didn't notice these things until she had already left. As a bride you're already having a chaotic morning full of emotions, it's hard to notice these details right away. The whole point of the trial is to feel confident that you're in good hands, so you don't have to worry about it the day of. Now that I see the professional photos and videos from my day, I'm very disappointed with the quality of Arianna's work. I wish I had the same experience as others. Unfortunately Arianna is incredibly unprofessional in her ability to coordinate her own schedule. I made my reservation in January for a wedding in June, only to be told yesterday that she double booked me with another party. Her idea of adequate compensation is having my makeup done 6 hours before the wedding with a small discount. This is the second time she flaked out on me. I should've learned the first time that relying on her to show up was a mistake.
