They did a great job They were efficient, polite, informative and left my home tidy. They moved the furnace to a better location in my basement. Another company gave me an assessment that was not too truthful. I appreciate The honesty. I signed up for their yearly maintenance service, which I believe is a good value. As I said in the initial review, easy fix. We are also in the middle of a complete renovation on the bathroom and currently the master craftsmen we are using see no issue with the supposed "T that was improperly installed". Where to start. Asking $142.20 just for a quote (it went from $60 to $142 for some reason. Might have to get my credit card involved since this is clearly just a scam.) just to come out and to look at something and then tell me I need the whole thing replaced for $5000 is a simply a scam. They want to dig up the whole first section of a septic tank just so that they can unscrew a pipe and lift up the pump, instead of just reaching into the tank, unscrewing the pipe and lifting up the pump. Avoid David Leroy Plumbing Inc. and go with someone else, they will do the job for 5 times less and they won't be digging up your yard just to unscrew a pipe. Had them out to check on the noise and water hammer at our tank from our well pump. Said they had never experienced this issue before. They checked the tank pressure. Said it was fixed but the issue is back to doing the same thing after 2 weeks. Got charged almost 400 dollars. The work stirred up a bunch of sediment that clogged most of our faucets. To begin, one star is indicated Called this company, Ready & Able, formerly David Leroy, to look at my toilet because the shut off valve was stuck due to lime buildup and the flush valve was not working properly. I have replaced flush valves before, but was concerned that trying to pry the shut off valve open could damage the pipes. David Leroy came out looked at the toilet, stated that ONLY the flapper needed to be replaced and that would be $168.00. A little shocked at the cost I told him that if it's only the flapper, that I can replace myself. In a very indignant and sarcastic tone he responded "then why did you call us, you want plumbing work done but don't want to pay Plummer's price" I told him that I needed the shut off valve replaced and that was the major reason. After letting him know I did not appreciate his tone and what he said about not wanting to pay he decided that he would replace the flapper for free. The shut off valve would cost $270.00 plus $79.00 service call. The shut off valve he would return to do. I paid the $168.00 for the free flapper and the $79.00 for the service call. Two days later the toilet was back to ghost flushing. The flapper did not work which means the flush valve should have been replaced. I will avoid Ready & Able for any future plumbing work and for those who are customers of this company be VERY skeptical if David Leroy shows at your door for any service calls. In summary, AVOID this company; poor workmanship and somewhat overpriced. read more

Do not use David Leroy plumbing if timeliness is important to you. I was waiting on an appointment today. 15 minutes had passed and I hadn't heard anything, so I called their main number. I was told that they are very busy right now and blessed to have a great customer base. I was also told that the appointment time was actually a 1-hour window (which was news to me). Had they communicated this information, I could have planned differently. Every other estimate I have received has been provided by companies that were timely and respectful. I do understand that it's the busy season, but there is nothing to stop their tech from taking a moment to text to say that they are running late. STEER CLEAR!! I recently had these folks come out for a normal seasonal tune up for my 6 year old carrier heat pump system, everything was functioning normally. Minutes after their arrival the man came down from the attic and said casually that he thought there was a leak in my evap coil and gave a rough quote of over 2800 dollars to replace. He issisted on having his "supervisor" (David Leroy Himself) come out and "verify the diagnosis". Upon Mr. Leroy's arrival he proceeded to the attic where I heard him spend very little time verifying and lots of time praising the technician and discussing financing while they believed I was out of earshot. Mr. Leroy later confirmed the quote the original technician supplied but suggested I do a full air handler replacement or better yet a full system replacement quoting 5k and 8k respectively. Needless to say I was skeptical to say the least. Before making such a large investment I decided to have their sketchy " diagnosis " verified by another company . After having F M Berkheimer and Zimmerman to my house who disputed Mr. Leroy's findings after extensive checks, it became clear, there was NO issue. I contacted Mr. Leroy who provided his contact card after his quotes and confronted him the information I had gathered. I requested that he refund the money I had paid for his "tune up" since I had now spent twice as much to check his work, finding nothing. Mr. Leroy refused any type of refund without coming back out to my residence, something I refused to allow after all of the shady dealings up until the current. Mr. Leroy was emphatic that his diagnosis was legitimate and said they test in "special ways" that other company's do not, providing no specifics. He said that I could come with him to the attic this time and he'd show me what was wrong, something both of the other company's had already done. After I made it clear I did not want him at my residence he became upset because I wasn't being "fair" at which point I ended the conversation. Stay away from this company! read more

**BEWARE, *Soft Targets*! (i.e. ladies, elderly and immigrants) Had a bad experience with this company. Told them I"m getting a strange residue/dust particles in my kitchen faucet. David Leroy rep (Plumber No. 1) came out 5/15/19, and 'immediately' upon looking at my tap water, said: "that's hard water, just lookin' at it, that's hard water!' I shrugged, let him continue, he proceeded with his hard sell of a $3,000 'soft water unit' (%$#!) that would take care of the problem. I didn't 'buy' his assessment; after conferring with multiple neighbors who had no signs of residue, nor did they have a soft water unit in their basement. Plus I thought he jumped to this pretty quick, w/o looking closely at my faucet/etc. Phoned them, expressed my doubt. They offered to have the reps supervisor come out and re-do; but at this point, I"m already feeling, your company has already revealed its 'business strategy'. Had Plumber No. 2 come out from another company. TOTALLY different experience. HE immediately said, that's NOT hard water, there's more to it. Spent almost an hour detaching aerators to faucet, opening hot water tank, inspecting bathroom faucet, etc etc. Very personable, very concerned, very honest - admitting that he couldn't say for certain and he narrowed it down to a few theories, plus advised me to get water company to test it. Now, here's the real kicker, after he opened up my faucets, much residue came out, leading 'me' to believe some small piece or hosing part may have failed and broke down, inside kitchen faucet. Plumber No. 2 said to continue to monitor it, because his other theories are still on the table and if the residue returns, we'll have to address those other theories. I'll take Plumber No. 2 any day of the week over DAVID LiEROY! David LiEROY charged me $69 service fee - that's my hard-earned money that I'm spending for his 'SKILL' set. Instead it bought me a sales pitch. I'm mad at myself for phoning DL first, as they are always listed as the BIG company, popping up at the top of Google "plumber" searches!! Well, hear this: BIGGEST is not always BEST; and certainly not always HONEST. *You really have to wonder how they came to be the "biggest." Now excuse me while I give my 5-star rating to Plumber No. 2 ... (And DL, save me your 'please call office to discuss...' reply because I already called yesterday and rec'd no call back.) (Oh and do your due diligence, because there are other reviews buried here where others have encountered this.) I called David LeRoy Plumbing because of their good reviews on Yelp. Our hot water heater stopped working, and our previous plumber had retired. We also had a toilet where water constantly ran. I was going to buy a kit (around $25) and fix it myself, but I figured why not kill two birds with one stone. Eric came out and quoted $241 for fixing the toilet, which is OBSCENE. I argued the cost, but he was already there. He charged $500 total for both jobs. The toilet only needed the aforementioned kit, and the water heater two thermostats - maybe 45-60 minutes tota work. I wasn't feeling great and said go ahead, but regretted it. I left a message for a manager the next day about the charges and never got a call back. AVOID. read more

I would highly recommend David LeRoy Plumbing based on the wonderful service provided by Greg and Kurt! We woke up on a Saturday morning to about 7 inches of water in our basement. Plumbing Supervisor Greg Timothy came out within a half hour of our Saturday phone call. He thoroughly evaluated the situation, gave us a temporary fix, and waited to see that it was working for us. He then explained what caused our problem and how it could be fixed and said he would either return himself or send someone at the first of the week with the replacement equipment we requested. He was true to his word and returned with Kurt to put everything in order for us. Greg's professional knowledge and his true concern for our needs were paramount. Not impressed with what these guys just tried to pull. My parents are elderly and woke up one morning without heat. I suggested David Leroy Plumbing because I had a decent experience with them a few years ago with a water heater replacement. Well, a guy came out and immediately diagnosed a cracked boiler, and proceeded to slap them with an 11 THOUSAND DOLLAR estimate for a brand-new oil furnace. Yes, seriously. Odd, since the furnace itself isn't even 10 years old. So, my parents had a second guy come out from a smaller company (he has 40 years of experience). Pays to get a second opinion! Lo and behold, NO cracked boiler, and parts and labor to fix the issues was around $300! This kind of deception really pisses me off. You guys are taking advantage of the elderly and pushing insanely expensive repairs that do NOT need to be done. How do you sleep at night?? read more

Very Disappointed! My water heater quit working on the weekend. I called Leroy Plumbing and was told that the service call would cost $139.00 due to a weekend call. I agreed and a service tech arrived and diagnosed the problem as a bad bottom thermostat but recommended replacing both at the same time. When he gave me a price it came to over $650.00 including the service call. At that point I said for that price I may just consider replacing the entire tank. The Tech said that he thought that was a better plan. Bottom line the cost of both thermostats and heating coils at Lowes were omly $20.00. It took thirty minutes for a friend of mine to replace them.We come to discover that it wasn't the thermostats at all but the top heating coil. I'm sure the tech would have figured that out later but who knows what the final cost would have been. I called the office to express my displeasure and then decided to post my complaint. read more

Cannot recommend. Very disappointed with owner's failure to stand behind his work with a warranty on his service and his general lack of customer service acumen. If you do use them, know that the work may not be guaranteed as they will not stand behind their work under certain circumstances. Circumstances that you might not be made aware of until half way through the project. The plumber was a very nice young man who had recently completed his formal training according to the owner. He did eventually fix the leak after a couple trips back to the office and redoing the job due to a mistake he had made. They couldn't fix/replace the shower knob so they left the faucet without the knob. The owner told me to just use the stem protruding from the cartridge to control the water. He also told me that he would have never accepted the job had he known the faucet brand (older faucet from 1973). Now it was my fault, not his? Lastly, I was told that the faucet cartridge was no longer available but 'lucky' me, they just happened to find one that was laying around the shop (great, old brittle seals?). After the plumber left, I went to Fagers and bought a new knob. I also asked if they carried new replacement cartridges for my faucet and the parts guy reached under the counter, without getting up from his chair, producing the new cartridge! I was struck by the owner's somewhat arrogant attitude and blatant lack of customer satisfaction acumen. Real customer service is tested by how unsatisfied customers are treated. I mistakenly thought I was dealing with a professional outfit but got the same service (but more expensive) as if I used Craigslist. All It would have taken to satisfy me, despite the replacement cartridge issue, was a 30-day warranty on their labor and a functional faucet knob! But here we are:-( read more

Do not use these guys. They grossly overcharge for either their parts or their labor which is why they don't break it down on their invoices. They will also try to upsell you on every appliance they see and recommend they should do work to it. The one guy was literally trying to tell my wife our water softener that was less than a year old needed replaced. Then expect a phone call months later trying to get you to agree to have them come over and do annual servicing to your other appliances like your heat pump. For any work you should at least get another estimate and you will quickly see how expensive these guys are. The work they performed was ok, but they are more concerned about getting as much money and work out of you as possible and it really makes me question whether some of the work they performed was even needed in the first place. First, I tend to review people more positively than negatively so keep that in mind. I contacted this company even though they are about 30 minutes away because they had 7 perfect 5 star reviews. My gas hot water heater stopped working. After hours of youtube videos and internet sites, I determined that most likely the gas valve circuit board had gone bad--no clue how to fix that. I called this company and was told on the phone I'd get charged for a service visit because 30 minutes away isn't local--fair enough. Two plumbers show up. Very friendly. Once we get down into my crawl space, I get numerous statements about how my water heater is a whirpool, not a rheem, and that rheem is the best. "I don't know too much about whirpools." Okay...Next, one of the technicians pulls up the same things I had found on the internet to his ipad. He begins suggesting things like "the guy on here says if you let it sit overnight." Then the other technician begins suggesting I change things out like some nozzles and other plumbing stuff in the crawl space. To their credit, they did call the water heater company for me and find out that it was under warranty. I ordered the new part and was told it would arrive Monday. I asked, "so no hot water til Monday?" "Oh I can have hot water today if you want," he said. I looked confused. He explained that it would just require installing a new hot water heater. ??? Are you kidding me? He then told me he'd have to charge me an additional fee for a diagnostic test since they had spent so much time at my house (55 minutes). In the end, I had a $169 fee with no hot water. He said not to worry that he would cut me a break on Monday when the part arrived, that he could fix out some valves and other things and really save me some money. Upon arrival in the beginning, no one ever said they would be charging any more than the service fee. I was told on the phone that all work would be quoted in the beginning if I needed to pay anything more than the service charge for the drive. Monday the part came, I went on youtube.com, replaced the valve, and it works fine. The tech did try to show me how to replace it by showing me with the old one before he left. Don't think this company is dishonest or anything like that--seem like very good people and the techs were extremely nice to me and my family. I used their service last week and I really want to share my experience with them. First of all, I was misrepresented by their agent when they told me they charge for quote fee only if the plumber comes during out of service hours. Since I was using plumber for first time, I was little worried about their cost which is why I checked this before hand. After plumber came they charged me an exorbitant rate of $375 to change my kitchen faucet. I asked them the time to fix it and it would be between 1-2hours. It was too expensive for me and when I declined their service the plumber gave bill for inspection fee. He was adamant that it needs to be paid and I called the customer service again to raise my concern. The manager who took the call not only did not hear my concern but was very disrespectful which was what prompted me to write this review. I will pay the $69 fee as I do not want my credit history to be affected. I called another service Roto-rooter who offered a free quote option and their quote was $225. The plumber from Roto-rooter who came was very courteous and even offered to fix another leak issue at my house for no additional cost. Please be wary of this firm as they are really pricey.
