I called Kleinschmidt to upgrade my gutters and downspouts. Their salesman came out; he looked at my house thoroughly and carefully and developed a plan which he emailed to me promptly. Gutter colors were slightly limited because I'm getting bigger gutters, so we chose what we thought was best from the swatches he had.
Fast forward: their foreman arrives to do the work. He looked at my brickwork and trim, and actual sections of the gutters he was going to install, and said, in essence, "Are you comfortable with this?". Well, no, I wasn't. With actual pieces of gutter stock, I could see it wouldn't look very good. No one's fault, but swatches just aren't the same as real pieces. The color I need isn't available now due to all the shortages, but may well be in the spring. I asked if I could wait till then.
I had signed a contract, and I agreed to the initial color choice. Kleinschmidt's would have been perfectly within their rights to have said nothing at all and simply install what I had ordered. Instead, they chose to walk away from a guaranteed job and hope I call them back, because they thought it was best for me. Again: walked away from a sure pay check because they thought it was better for me.
Of *course* I'm going to call them in the spring. Their level of personal service and integrity is increasingly rare and I wouldn't do this project with any other company, period. These people aren't good, they're great. read more
