I know that I cant expect any service and protection from them but whats worse is I believe they are going out of their way to cause me harm. Eventually some one will have to answer to the public's out cry and if not maybe its time for tax strikes and general strikes these public servants need to be reminded they are our servants and we are governed only by consent not by rule. Whats funny is they are public servants and very well paid yet I spoke to, Sergeant Chris Mullin insists he is NOT a public servant. I emailed him for a statement on who it is he works for if not the city I am still waiting ;) Separating Policy Enforcement from Peace Officer and disarming Policy Enforcement Officers would be a good start.

Every single time I called in, someone very friendly and welcoming spoke to me. I was then contacted by one of the most caring and helpful officer R. Phillips. He listened attentively to my issues and concerns regarding the welfare of an elderly family member. I was so touched by how caring and understanding of the current situation at hands. He was able to calmly and confidently make me feel at ease and even followed up with great suggestions and advice on how to peacefully handle this sensitive matter. We need more compassionate and selfless officers like this. Thank you so much Officer R. Phillips you are an amazing human being.

For those of you who are not familiar with Vancouver's transit system, in addition to skytrain…read moreattendants, there are occasionally transit cops (commonly known as transit pigs or sky pigs, and for good reason) milling around skytrain stations, under the guise of keeping the public safe. But the real reason they are there is to harass marginalized people, and keep busy by issuing tickets to fare evaders, whether it is justified or not (often the fare gates don't register your tap, your fare sometimes doesn't get loaded onto your card for hours if you pay online, and I have experienced the ticket machines not accepting my money because they had not been updated to reflect the new coins that had recently been issued, amongst other reasons). Also, they are always RUDE! That's what bothers me the most -- the unnecessary RUDENESS! They are power tripping ASSHOLES! My latest experience with a transit pig was on Thursday morning. I tapped my Compass Card on the fare gate, and it opened, BECAUSE I HAVE VALID FARE. There was a sky pig, and as I walked past him to get on the escalator to to get to the train platform so I could catch my train to GET TO WORK, he stopped me and demanded I show him my Compass Card. He swiped it through his card reader, and saw that I had a U-Pass and asked to see my student ID. Annoying, but I understand why he wanted to see my student ID if I have a student pass; it's to confirm if I am a scammer or not. Grumbling, because I had missed he train, I riffled through my purse to retrieve my wallet, to pull out my student ID. I have other cards in my wallet, such as credit cards, a gym pass, library card, etc, and my student ID is not the first thing in my wallet. Yes, I had it, but I don't carry it around in my hand or on a fucking lanyard around my neck -- I had to RETRIEVE it, and it took a fucking MOMENT to do so. As I was pulling out my student ID, which was behind other cards, my government issued ID became dislodged and started getting pulled out of my wallet. The fucking pig then snapped, "I want your STUDENT ID, not your GOVERNMENT ID!" Despite the risk of being tasered (they like to taser people), I yelled back at him that I WAS getting my fucking STUDENT ID. So unnecessary to have made those comments! I showed him my ID, and he took his fucking sweet time scrutinizing it. I was so upset for two reasons: for him being unnecessarily rude and snapping at me, and for being singled out for a fare check, when there were dozens of other people who weren't asked -- either check EVERYONE, or no one, unless there is good reason (they are never around when people push past the gates without paying or following people through -- go get those people!). Also, I had wondered if I were singled out for being Asian, as the sky pig, who was a very tall (over 6 feet tall) Caucasian man had been harassing a young Asian woman when I entered the station, and then started in on me, while he didn't bat an eye at white commuters. Mmmm. I sent in a complaint to the transit police, and to my surprise, I received a response shortly after. However, it was a FAIL response, that did not address my concerns (rudeness and possible discrimination). It said that the reason I was singled out was because I had a student card and therefore was required to show my student ID, and I given a condescending explanation about how I am obligated to carry my student ID if I have a U-Pass. First, I know the policy! I had made it clear that I was not questioning why I had to show my student ID! I was asking why I had been singled out, and had complained about the rudeness. After some back and forth, the guy clarified that when I swiped my Compass Card at the fare gate, the card reader showed I had a student card; OK, MAYBE that may be a valid excuse as to why I was singled out, but then why re-swipe my card if he already knew? Also, instead of being rude and intimidating (as a petite, Asian female, yeah, I am NOT comfortable when a large white man in authority, who has weapons on him, is being aggressive), the pig could have POLITELY said, "I see you have a U-Pass; can I see your student ID?" That would have been a much more pleasant interaction! These fucking transit police are on such a power trip, harassing innocent people and not actually catching fare evaders, such as the bitch who pushed me the other day, as I was going through a fare gate (she missed her bus -- ha ha!). Also, given there is a fucking PANDEMIC, and people are highly encouraged to practice "social distancing", is it really a good idea to be interacting so closely with hundreds of people, touching their fare cards? (I made damn sure to disinfect my Compass Card when I got to work!) Then again, insuring I haven't illegally used a student card is far more important than the safety of the public! Get your priorities straight, Translink! [Yelp collections: Rude!; Planes, Trains, and Automobiles]

You act all tough and big because you don't measure up. A skytrain or transit cop is equivalent to a mall cop. Fail on all counts. I don't care what or who you are. The way you treat some people on the skytrain is disgusting. Saw a "transit cop" screaming at a poor elderly woman about her skytrain fare, because she was Chinese and couldn't speak English. Ok little man. Feel big? Shut up and go home already. We all know you're just a failed police cop. LOL.
