I wish I could support a small credit union instead of all the "big banks that are just trying to take people's money" I've already paid close to 100 dollars in fees since I've had this credit union. I told them I didn't want to be able to spend more then I had in my account just reject the charge if there's nothing on the card. Then I got hit with over 70 dollars in fees because it over drafted my account. They wouldn't do anything to help me at all but they reassured me it was taken care of it won't happen again. So today my insurance payment hit my account and they did reject the fee but they still charged me 24 dollars. So I get charged a fee anyway the only difference now is my bills aren't paid. It's kinda hard to help the little guy when they are just as big of crooks as the big guy. As a matter of fact, chase, us bank, bank of America was always able to wave fees and give me another shot. Ok, let me start by saying that I dont do many reviews and that I wanted to give this institution the benefit of the doubt but after trying out their services and working hard on my end dealing with the countless phone delays, lack of communication, and inconsistencies, I can honestly say that I would not trust this bank in handling my money. I believe the worst part of my experience was attempting to take part in several of their financial offerings. Never have I experienced such misdirection and incompentancy in a bank. Mind you, I currently bank with several large institutions as well as local banks and credit unions. I have an excellent credit score and a high income with a very low debt to income ratio. But I believe that this institution does not value the smart financial investor and targets individuals who are in dire straits only to draw them deeper in debt. Shame on you. Your institution does not hold up to level of integrity that is stated on your website. I was hoping to establish a local financial institution in the area I recently relocated to but I will be looking elsewhere. I hope you do not make the same mistake as I did and fall prey to their bad business practices. Perhaps this is why this bank has so many negative reviews. I have closed my account and taken my business elsewhere. There are better choices in Boerne and San Antonio and I would advise you to look elsewhere. If a negative rating system was in place on a scale of -10 to -1, this bank would rate a -7 only because I can honestly say that I experienced a single different institution that was as poorly ran and lacked a diverse offering of financial packages. Now I love RBFCU even more. I had a problem with a University FCU ATM at Wheatsville, I thought it was part of the Co-Op Network of ATMs that I can use, but after I asked to withdraw money, the machine told me there would be a $3 fee. I hit "cancel" because I could just go to another ATM that was free, but the machine spit money out anyhow! It was a good thing I hadn't walked away as soon as I hit "cancel." I tried calling University and they pleasantly said they couldn't do anything, even tho it was their machine, try calling my own credit union. I thought that was a long shot, but RBFCU immediately said they would refund the charge. Nice! read more

STAY far away from this bank unless you like being nickle and dimed for everything. The customer service dept is trained to not help. Dont just take it from me, read all the reviews, there is a reason why they are rated so poorly. Like i said, stay far away from them. read more

I have an account with RBFCU and it's funny that I'll have some figures on "HOLD" with my check card and my balance is depleted with these amounts, yet when the amounts actually get off of hold and clear the bank my balance is less than what occurred when the amounts were on hold. As if they are putting them through double. Stupid me, I don't get a statement and who can read those any way? Cash is the way to go. RBFCU was under investigation a couple of years ago for inacurate records. Should have closed my account then! Definitely closing my account now! read more

PLEASE, PLEASE change to Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. I originally changed from Wells Fargo due to being tired of fee after hidden fee and I was also in the market for a car loan and they advertised low rates. My boyfriend was using them as well & highly recommended switching. So, now I'm happily collecting 10 cents per debit card swipe on my free checking account and paying on a car loan with practically no interest. I also have a credit card balance that I transferred to a 0% MC with them! The reason I'm writing this review however is because I had trouble with another bank (First Commonwealth - HORRIBLE!) saying that a check that I wrote to my brother in Pennsylvania came back as account closed! They were charging my teenage brother $8.50/day until we got it resolved!! RBFCU was so incredible helpful with this situation. They wrote the other bank a letter, called the other bank, and asked to see a copy of the "account closed" stamped check only to find out that the other bank had encoded it with the wrong account number when they sent it in! Needless to say, they were sooo incredibly helpful (main line #, although this branch is great too!) and we got it resolved. So grateful and I LOVE my bank!!! (Who says that!?!) read more

I have been a "member" for 17 years at RBFCU. I have never had really good service from them but over the past couple of years something has changed for the worse. It is annoying that my last three vehicle loans could not be offered for the same low apr as a competitor....S.S.F.C.U. with whom I do not have an account with! Customer service is now terrible and I'm sure they now use call centers outside of the U.S. judging by the strong Indian accent of the person I spoke with recently. He was unable or unwilling to resolve an issue on a transaction a merchant had submitted where funds were removed twice. I had the merchant fax over a letter saying to refund the amounts but that was lost in their system somewhere. Three days later and a day off work and I think it may be resolved? I would suggest banking elsewhere. I am planning to move my account to another bank. read more

I have an account with RBFCU. I also have my car financed and a loan with them. I pay them monthly on time with auto pay. This month RBFCU decided to take double payments out my account. I spoke with 3 staff members one daily; and was told by each that the refund had been processed. I then called on the 4th day and was finally told my funds had not been returned because another staff member entered my account number incorrectly. That she would get it processed and my funds sould be there in the next 3-4days. I told her that would not work. That I needed the funds asap. After going back a forward with her I finally got her to agree that I could come to the credit union and pick up my funds they took out my account. Beware of this. I need all dollars I work for. read more

awesome bank. no problems so far (knock on wood). only reason i gave a 4 star is that their ATM do not take cash deposits unlike other banks and their call center has limited business hours. You cant contact the specific branch, you have to contact the main call center. read more

I approached RBFCU about an auto loan. They quoted me at 3.1% for 60 months for the 2010 vehicle I was interested in. At this time I was not a member. I switched to a 2011 vehicle and they assured me that the same interest rate would be applicable. I purchased the vehicle and then proceeded to spend 3 separate days in their branch, setting up the account and getting the paper work for the loan finalized. After being placed on multiple holds, having the wrong information processed and offered to me, I was informed that I was now getting approved at a different rate and for a different amount. I was not able to continue to waste my day further to obtain an explanation as to why they told me one story before I was a member, got my money, and then changed the story. I will be promptly closing my accounts and happy to refer ANYONE to literally, ANY other bank. read more

I was recommended by Wells Fargo(my bank) to get a second opinion from RBFCU on a car Lon. They said that they couldn't compete with their interest rates. So I did. I came over here and sat down with a computer screen and spoke via webcam to a banker about a loan. I thought, hmmm impersonable but ok. I did what the asked, emailed a ton of stuff in to a basic email and I waited. A week later I stopped back in the branch and asked for an update. Everyone was clueless. Scrambling around making calls trying to figure out what stage the Loan process was in. I was placed back in a room, back on the webcam and asked all the same questions as before. Where is everything I filled out and emailed in from before??? So here I sit, on my 5th visit to the branch, in front of a webcam, on hold for now 13 min and counting as a new person is trying to figure out what I need to do to finalize this loan. The interest rates are great but the customer service is complete crap!! No one knows what is going on, there is absolutely no 'personal banking' with this bank. And to add to it, you have to sit and scan your paperwork to them because there is not a live person sitting at the desk with you! They ask questions of "did anyone bring a checklist in there?" It's the most unorganized thing I've ever experienced. And it's a complete waste of my time having to come in here several times a week. I would've rather paid a few points higher on my interest rate at my other bank then have to deal with the frustrations of this bank. They may not be able to compete with numbers but at least I get ONE person that deals with my file and knows what is going on! read more

I just started an account with them. Their interest rates are very low so I thought I'd give it a try. Also, you can get 10 cents on every debit card purchase. Initially, they were very friendly but that changed. Now they don't even say hello to me. I'll stand there filling out my deposit slip and they will say hello to everyone else who comes in after me? Also, it is a very small operation and I believe they are very gossipy. So look out! read more

Though being a member since 1998 and due to their credit card services causing an issue; I was charged $696 in fees!!! They were only willing to remove 4 of the fees. They also sat on a business loan application for a year! So much for taking any responsibility, doing the right thing or at the very least showing a long time member any benefit!!!! I just closed my accounts with RBFCU after seven years. I had debits coming out of my savings account, which is linked to my checking. I was under the impression those debits would come out of my checking, but I was mistaken. Nevertheless, I was also under the assumption that since my accounts were linked, that one account would cover the other in the event of overdraft. This is apparently only the case when the circumstances are backwards (checking going into overdraft with money in savings). When I called the customer service line for RBFCU, the agents were rude and humiliating. When I asked to speak to a supervisor about this situation, I received the response of "(scoff)...you're just gonna get the same answer." It was horrible! That person then transferred me to "Lindsay." I told her to please not let anymore debits come through my savings, that it was ridiculous to have debits coming through my savings and, also, ridiculous that RBFCU wouldn't pay those charges out of my linked checking account. I had to ask to speak to her supervisor as well and, believe it or not, I got the same response from her! She placed me on a brief hold and then told me her supervisor was busy and they'd call me back. I never received a call back. I came to a level of acceptance and decided it wasn't worth the effort and I would just absorb the $75 in NSF fees. Then, my bank account was hit once again by a "retry" of those same charges. BAM! Another $75! I walked into the bank branch this time to talk to someone face to face. They were very apologetic and said they can't do anything without corporate approval. PLEASE! IF YOU VALUE HAVING MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, AVOID THIS BANK LIKE THE PLAGUE! THEY ARE NOT THE FRIENDLY SMALL-TOWN BANK THEY USED TO BE! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY VIA OBSCURE LOOPHOLES EVERY CHANCE THEY GET! read more
