I am not a designer, however, just a consumer that likes to high-end design my own stuff. I have a designer for certain things but do lots myself. I'm that type that has to (gasp!) Pay for my own samples! I have consistently been annoyed by the 'to the trade only' dead ends on everything. Even my spouse is a professional wallpaper hanger but when trying to buy some wallpaper he often gets that trade = designers and architects only, not installers. It gets really old. And, um, they are trade. Is this how designers stay in business? I respect good designers a lot but find this practice dated and frustrating. I inquired with KDR locally when trying to price/buy a certain sofa. I knew several specific designs I was looking for and had my own material. Generally I end up having to purchase online because locally I hit these "to the trade only" dead ends but this time, I was going to try KDR since it appeared on their site that they sell furniture to consumers. After inquiring, I get asked questions like "are you remodeling or updating decor? Do you have a designer? Where did you find the sofas?" I thought these were strange questions. I just want a sofa and obviously I found them in the manufacturer's catalog but why does this matter? I emailed and asked for a quote, answered the questions and again asked for a quote and never got a quote. I was told she needed to "check with my designer before proceeding". In comparison, I called 3 North Carolina stores and had a quote immediately with no questions asked. Back to the interwebs.

From the start, Ajdin has been incredibly patient and helpful throughout this entire process. You can tell that he actually cares that you're happy with the product and is not trying to oversell anything. When we decided on a slab outside his inventory, he personally went with us (30 minutes away) to examine the slabs we were going to purchase and help us choose the best ones. This is not required or custom of other companies that we have gotten bids from. You don't get a "salesy" vibe with him, just honest advice and opinions. E&B has been a phenomenal company to work with, and I cannot say enough good things about them. We would choose to work with this company and Ajdin 100 times over. Here is just a part of the final production. I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful production for our slab.

He kept us in the loop about when he would get started and return our items and was genuinely interested in our satisfaction. Unlike another shop we called that couldn't even get to us for 3-4 months, this shop's lead time was only about a month. We already have our completed pieces back about two months before the other place could have started our project. He does make you buy fabric through him but having worked with an upholsterer before who let me source my own, I actually prefer Tim's method. Unless you're in the trade, you probably don't know how to judge whether you're picking something appropriate for your needs or not. Ordering through the shop, you know you're getting something these craftspeople are willing to stand behind. (Side note: He carries the same fabric line Joybird uses. I was able to match up several of my existing Joybird samples to his books and ended up using one of them on our project.) He will also pick up and deliver your pieces back home. There was one minor snafu when they were bringing one of the pieces into the house that resulted in some minor but very repairable damage. Tim brought his carpenter along with a bunch of tools to our house and fixed it on site. He clearly felt worse about this happening than we did. What matters most is that it was addressed in a timely fashion. It's nice to find someone in any trade who actually cares about doing good quality work. All of our pieces got new (and very needed) fabric, foam and padding. Two of the three got brand new legs and the carpenter had to add supports for them to the frames. The other piece got its original legs re-stained - which was badly needed. The shop retained original details as requested. When I am ready to have other pieces in my home done, I will gladly send them back here. My only "complaint" is that I'm still trying to adjust to my ratty old broken down furniture feeling so new. :)

Forty minutes later I arrive at the place and they were closed, even though their website says they are open on Thursdays. Turns out, this place is in a run down area of town that when you exit your vehicle, you definitely want to be aware of your surroundings. The store front was all dirty and dusty. Could hardly see thru the glass with all the dirt. Quite frankly, after seeing where they were located and the condition of their store front, I was kind of glad they were closed. What kind of business says they are open for business but actually they are not.

Andy's certified carpet cleaning is by far the best we have ever expierenced. Most companies are in and out work from a truck, and the try to upsell their products. Andy comes in, measures the areas gives you a firm price and talks about extras up front. He clean a 21 foot sectional, making in look and smell brand new. He started promply at 9:00 we walked trough did the measuring and told me the price and stuck to it. He did not finish until 4:00 p.m. working straight through. The best job ever! He is a great guy, very commited to doing great work. Unlike many other companies did not tack on 3% surcharge for using credit card. Highest recomendation I can give a service company.

Salesperson commented that I was short so maybe top loading wasn't the best idea. I opened several washers; my hand was several inches from the bottom of the tub. OMG Went to Lemke's thinking the only answer was a pricey washer/dryer combo. When I told John about my dilemma, he said "try this" and tapped a GE top load agitator washer. I could reach the bottom!
