    Veggie tacos
    Deedee C.

I discovered them in the Vancouver Farmer market and was at first hesitant to order the veggie tacos based on the ingredient names. I'm not vegetarian but I'm used to seeing veggie tacos be boring and bland and I'm so glad I still decided to go for it. These veggie tacos pack a lot of authentic flavor and you can taste the fresh ingredients. I ordered all three sauces and it made it even more amazing. I only wish I could have more of it!!! The folks running the stall are also super nice and happy to explain about their food and help with options. I'll definitely be back to try more creations!

Such a beautiful little farmers market experience in Vancouver Just in time for Mother's Day, I…read morefound one of the prettiest bouquets I've seen for only $35 and the quality honestly exceeded my expectations. The flowers looked fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully arranged -- definitely didn't look like a last-minute grab at all. I also stopped at a small plant stand called Hearth & Hollow where I picked up herbs and vegetable starter plants for my mom's new garden beds. They had an amazing deal -- 3 plants for $10 -- and I ended up leaving with nine plants total because everything looked so healthy and well cared for. Perfect little starter garden setup with herbs and veggies ready to grow. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. The overall vibe of the market was really enjoyable: lots of flowers, plants, local vendors, and people out enjoying the day. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because I expected a little more variety in food options since it's a farmers market, and there honestly weren't many food vendors compared to what I'm used to. Still, overall I absolutely loved walking through it and would definitely go back, especially during springtime. Between the flowers, plants, and atmosphere, it ended up being one of my favorite little stops in Vancouver

In the late summer, early fall the fruit and produce is abundant! Juicy peaches, plums, cherries, the last of the blueberries and blackberries, rhubarb, eggplant, tricolored peppers, and beets fill the stalls. everything so colorful and delicious. Was excited to happen upon the Catnip Takeout booth filled with the most adorable handmade, felted cat toys that of course contain catnip. The owner gives you a takeout box and you fill it with the toys of your choice. She had veggies, mushrooms, hearts, eyeballs, bees, round balls, fruit- all adorable! since my house is very spa like with shades of cream, gray and blues, I was excited to find so many options in these colors. My cat immediately began batting the ball around the minute I gave it to her! The nursery here is the biggest and best I've ever seen at a Farmers Market. The variety of plants was impressive and all were healthy and thriving. they also sell sun catchers, perfect for inside a window or in your garden - every garden deserves a bit of whimsy imo. Lots of food carts serving a variety of cuisines. some are within the market, several more line the street on the outside of the market. The gyros caught my attention, the scent of grilled lamb everywhere. it didn't disappoint! I ordered the mega traditional which had extra meat so I could have half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Love that this market is open both Saturday and Sundays until 3pm April through October. Saturday they open at 9am; on Sundays they open at 10am. Parking is on the street, use parking kitty to pay. On a Sunday at 12:30 I had no issue finding a spot close by.

Hey Babe - offered a good cashew cheez. Rangoon Bistro - AMAZING!!! I love Burmese food, we tried two of their dishes, both were FANTASTIC, but spicy! I still ate it, it was so good. I found their pricing to be unique, they asked for $4-$10 per dish. I was very confused at first when they asked me what would you like to pay? I was like, huh?? They said do to Covid, as many our out of work, so they have a sliding scale, $4 is probably their break-even point, and $10 is probably their normal profit point. When he saw my look of confusion even after the explanation, he said how about $8, I said great! I think they have an AWESOME business model especially during this pandemic. I would be eating their ice cream every day!!!! I was super happy to find this farmers market, being both gluten-free and dairy-free can be hard and this place was perfect for me.

Running Sundays from 10-2, this small market features an impressive variety and selection for its size: Missionary Chocolates, Spiritopia Liquors, various food vendors including bakers, coffee, and such, fresh flowers (all the dahlias!), and several produce stands, one of which sold the best dang crispy tart apples I have ever eaten (I didn't get the name of the apples OR the seller, curses!). Both fellow shoppers and vendors were friendly and kind, everyone seeming to enjoy themselves. Parking was pretty challenging (surprise, surprise), but we eventually found a spot, and it was not too terribly far. This is really a neighborhood farmers market, but I had a great time (and wish I lived in the area so I could shop here with regularity).

Situated near a #4 bus stop by the New Columbia neighborhood, the market offers fresh veggies at good prices, bulk foods (including several Bob's Red Mill items), general pantry items, and some houshold needs. Village Market is operated by Village Gardens, so you know that whenever you spend money at the market it is going right back to the community to help create a better food environment for everyone. Check it out!

I'd get the "fancy creamers" on Fridays for our participants' never ending appetite for coffee, snacks for myself and my coworkers, and fresh veggies and fruits to enhance the food we had at the shelter. What started as a trip of convenience became one of my favorite parts about coming to work. In its layout the Village Market has the prettiness of a Whole Foods and the spatial logic of a Manhattan Bodega (minus the Bodega cat). But the fresh and culturally correct offerings on its clean, smartly presented shelves are priced way below anything in NYC or Whole Paycheck. It's a freaking gem of a store. The staff (all of whose names and pronouns are listed below shining, colorful photos of their faces on a wall near the dairy section) display the ideal trifecta for corner market employees: genuine friendliness, helpful knowledgeability, and a pride in their establishment that brooks no bull. Shout out to Mo in particular, who read me cold for being a white boy wearing indigenous Arabic pants and having an Arabic tattoo, but then also taught me a new word and let me practice some of my language skills which had been slacking. Village Market is quality products that I loved bringing to our participants at the shelter, and quality people who care about their work and their community. Since we left the Charles Jordan Center, one of the parts I've missed the most is this place. It seems to me the neighborhood feels richer and lovelier for it, without feeling more expensive or elitist. That's a win.

I especially like having another location to get delicious and cheap apples from the local Kiyokawa orchard (they are great for eating raw as well as drying into apple chips!) I probably won't go here much because I live so far away, but it's nice to know it's there in case I'm in the area (which will be more frequent now that I know Cason's Meat Market is just across the street for my BBQ needs :-) I hope the neighborhood really takes to this idea and helps it grow into a thriving FM that rivals the likes of the Hollywood or Woodstock versions. Once they get one or two large -scale farm stands that offer ALL the veggies you might need (including lettuce, kale, peppers, cucumbers, onions, zucchini, corn, etc), I think they'll really pick up in popularity.
