I would suggest that the serve mention that when taking orders so we know. Just because it's at the very bottom of the menu I didn't notice it until I asked for a dessert menu. The food was so good! We had Mexican jambalaya, Carne asada plate, tacos Dorado, enchiladas with both sauces, parillada, enfrioladas (bean enchiladas) tacos de pescado, Don julio flight, multiple drinks and churros. The churros were really good although we wish there was a non filled ones too and to have the optionof if we wanted it dressed up because churros are already super sweet with the cinnamonand sugar dusted but caramel and whip cream was added along with a strawberry filling. We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. Overall the service was great and quick. I would definitely come back here.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

E Carbon is set inside the Westin but is a separate business. Now a 100 years old, this was once the Hotel Sainte Claire (1926). I'm amazed just being in this building. Now let's talk about the fantastic service. Both at dinner and for breakfast I was received warmly, I was even recognized by my waiter though I had only dined once. That familiar greeting hit me very finely as I'm away from home and missed my wife and dog. I suggest the Uova Piacre Benedecttina for breakfast. It's a form of Eggs Benedict and sits well with a cappuccino.

Then, they said they could seat us right away at a small corner table right by the main door. It ended up being tight but at least we didn't have to wait. It also wasn't an ideal spot because we'd get hit by a gust of wind every time the servers came in/out of the main door to tend to the guests seated outdoors. For drinks we got the strawberry agua fresca (seasonal), witch's brew (seasonal), and the Benjamin. The witch's brew was too strong for me, but the Benjamin was good and the alcohol taste wasn't too intense which is what I prefer. We shared the tres salsas + chips, ceviche tostada, pink tacos (braised spare rib), and salmon tacos. The ceviche tostada and salmon tacos were my favorites. Ceviche tostada was light, fresh, and flavorful, and the salmon in the salmon taco was cooked very well. The tres salsas + chips were ok, the chips were similar to Fritos and the salsas were on the watery end which made the flavors feel muted. The pink taco was decent - braised spare rib was pretty tender but I liked the salmon taco more. Service was wonderful, friendly, and they checked in frequently. Ambiance is lively and nicely decorated.

The staple letdown is the tortillas. The wonderful white/blue corn taste has been sucked out of them. Use your taste buds or take these reviews seriously. Ha but nicely made churros. The inside-out non-traditional chiles rellenos are odd and lack flavor too, Actually, in Texas, I made rellenos with my family. At Luna there's an underwhelming flavor and no satisfying last bite taste at the stem. I convinced myself their tacos are better. Better but not great. Finally there's the mediocre guacamole that should be called a "better than the store" dip. After everything said, the pitted mortar the guac is served best describes this place: Odd, "presented authentically" at the expense from any home I've eat at across the border - or at a hole in the wall here in SJ.
