I've been using Ray's Guns exclusively for years. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and unintimidating to deal with. The selection is impressive for a smaller gun store, and they have a good mix of new, as well as used guns to chose from. Love all the people working at Rays. The environment is great and you feel welcomed. They have a great selection of handguns and rifles, suppressors as well. I much prefer smaller shops to huge ones. There are few gun shops around here and the largest one is typically just wanting to open your wallet right away or just get the hell out. Transferred a firearm (handgun) to them because Bud's Gun Shop has them listed as fairly close to my house. They refuse to honor WV CCW permit so I'm forced to wait on background check (currently over a day when if they simply honored my state CCW I could've signed forms and left). I am new to the area and have been meaning to stop by Ray's as I pass their business every day. Well, I gave myself a good reason to stop in when I made a mistake re-assembling my Glock. I was in the market for a Sig P365. I decided to come check out this gun store because I've been visiting the various shops in the area, and I had not made my way to this one yet. The man behind the counter was very helpful and showcased the variations of P365 models while answering my questions. I left with a new pistol with case and two 10-Round magazines as well as some 12-Round magazines and a little less than 200 each 9mm. The lady behind the counter was really weird when I asked for a photocopy of the transactions to keep for my records. I have no idea why it would be bad for me to have a copy of my transactions for my records? The paper and the ink would cost all of $1 to produce a copy which I would gladly pay. As a responsible firearms owner, I like to keep all documents of everything I do that's related to firearms. One star gone for that weirdness, but all-in-all it was pretty good. read more

The word I'd use to describe them.... SELFISH. I needed to do my finger prints for a silencer I bought at a shop in PA since that's my state of residency. The SilencerShop app had them as my closest kiosk to do my fingerprints. They told me unless I buy it from them I can't use their machine even though they're closer to my house. So much for being in this fight together to protect our rights and freedoms. I'll happily take my business elsewhere. read more

Customer service is clearly not top of mind at Rays. Rays selection is terrific; one of the best in the immediate area. Likewise, FFL transfer fees are very fair, if not very good for the area. Prices are fair, if not about the norm. They score well here for sure. Unfortunately, customer engagement sucks. I'm currently in the market for a new 1911/2011 and giving consideration to upscaling the purchase (STI, Nighthawk, Ed Browns, etc.). This being no insignificant expenditure, careful evaluation, discovery and inspection are par for the course. Recently, when perusing various pistols at Rays, my purchasing intent was somewhat rudely challenged. If I've learned anything via decades of high tech sales, customer satisfaction is paramount. You want a loyal customer folks, not a one time purchase. Tragically (yes, every sales loss due to inept and rude sales interaction is a tragedy), Rays lost a potential high dollar sale. When a customer request is to explore merchandise, apart from misuse (let alone abuse - what, do people drop and throw around their firearms?), you put on your most charming smile, ensure safety, hand over the platform, and ask how you can be of assistance. In fairness, I guess I'd give them 2 1/2 stars, but since I can't give half stars, and customer satisfaction is everything, gotta swing low for this one. It would seem Rays is far more interested in your money, than customer satisfaction and ongoing, repeat business. read more
